Abstract

 Abstract : The purpose of this study is to know the ability Profile Junior high school students in Problem Solving Competency Test Laboratory (UKL) On Activity Fair Biology (PRB) in 2016. The research was conducted at the campus of the University of Riau FKIP Biology Education and Junior High School in Pekanbaru that follow Fair Biology ( PRB) in July and October 2016. the sample in this study were all participants Competency Test Laboratory (UKL) totaling 47 people.Techniques in the determination of sample is total sampling. Data collection instruments used in the form of question and answer sheets UKL student participants. The measured parameter is the analysis of items, based on cognitive abilities and psychomotor student.The results show the ability of junior high school students in solving Competency Testing Laboratories based on a set of cognitive domains I shows the criteria are not well with the average of 13.7% and II showed less criteria set well with the average of 24.7% and for psychomotor on set I showed sufficient criteria both with average 42.15% and II showed less criteria set well with the average of 38.5%. The conclusion of the research is the competence profile junior high school students in solving Competency Test Laboratory (UKL) on the activities of the Fair Biology (PRB) in 2016 was less good.

Abstract

Abstract:This research aimed to produce comic media with guided inquiry models based on scientific literacy on circulatory system in humans for grade VIII junior high school students. It had been done in SMPN 4 Pekanbaru and the Faculty of Teacher Training and Biology in University of Riau on April of October 2019. This typeofresearch was a Reseach and Development (R&D) study using the ADDIE model which consists of five stages namely analyze, design, development, implement, and evaluate. This research only reached the development stage by conducting validation by validators and limited trials in stages I and II. The data obtained were analyzed statistically descriptive. The evaluation of the developed comic media includes 6 aspects, namely aspects of comic content, aspects of linguistic / communication, aspects of presentation, aspects of overall appearance, aspects of guided inquiry, and aspects of scientific literacy. The results of the average validationwith a guided inquiry model based on science literacy gained a score of 3.47 in the very valid category. The average results of the limited trial phase I get a score of 96.42% with a very good category and a limited trial phase II get a score of 94.28% with a very good category. Based on these data it can be concluded that the development of comic media with a guided inquiry model based on scientific literacy in the material of the circulatory system in humans for grade VIII junior high school students gets very valid and very good categories so that it is appropriate to be used as a source of learning and can be implemented in the learning process at school.KeyWords: Comic Media, Guided Inquiry, Scientific Literacy, the Material of Circulatory System In Human

Abstract

Abstract: Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK) is a conceptual framework that shows the relationship between the three realms of knowledge required by the teacher: technological knowledge, pedagogical knowledge, and content knowledge. The purpose of this research is to develop a workbook for the strengthening of content knowledge for science teachers of SMP. The workbook was developed from the essential indicator of Teacher Competency Test (UKG). Stage design, development, internal validation and simulation workbook trials conducted in Biology Education Laboratory FKIP University of Riau. External validation and limited trials were conducted at MGMP IPA Pekanbaru City. Workbooks are validated with four aspects of technology knowledge ie format, content, illustrations, and language. The result of the validation of all aspects shows that the workbook is in a very valid category. Workbooks can be used as learning resources by teachers to improve the professional competence of teachers in teaching and learning.Key Word : Science for SMP, Content Knowledge, Workbook

Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to develop the Student Worksheet (LKPD) based onscience literacy for seniorhigh school gradeX of the topic of biodiversityin April-December 2019. The research was conducted in twoplaces, namely to Strudent Worksheetvalidation was conducted at the FKIP UNRI Biology Education Campus and Student Worksheetlimited trials were conducted at SMAN 1 Pekanbaru. This type of research refers to the R&D research approach using the ADDIE model developed by Dick and Carry. The subject of this research is the subject matter of Biology inseniorhigh school gradeX KD 3.2. The developed LKPD consisted of3meetings with a time allocation of 1 meetingfor 45 minutes. The parameters of this study include the results of the validation of the development of student worksheetby the validatorand respon assesment by student. The assessment is doing withvalidation sheet and a questionnaire. Data analysis is descriptive qualitative and quantitative. The results of this study indicate that student worksheetthat have been developed are in the very valid category with an average score of all aspects of 3.53. The value of the answers to all aspects the valueof the results of a limited trial phase I and stage II in all aspects obtained an average score of 3.39 with a very good category. Based on the results of the validation, the results of the first trial, the results of the second trial and the revisions that have been made,student worksheet is good and feasible to be used as a reference at school learning to increase students knowledge and understanding for the topic of biodiversity.KeyWords: Student Worksheets, Science Literacy, Biodiversity

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to describe the science literacy of science textbooks for junior high school grade VII based on 4 dimensions, namely science as the body of knowledge, scienceas a way of thinking, science as a way of investigation and science and its interaction with technology and society and describe scientific literacy in practice questions the repetition on the seventh grade science book of SMP based on the 2015 PISA framework is competency and knowledge aspects. This research uses a qualitative approach with a content analysis method. The subject of this research is the science textbook class VII published by Erlangga Curriculum 2013. The research data obtained from the results of scientific literacy analysis of books using scientific literacy level analysis instruments based on 4 dimensions of scientific literacy and scientific literacy about repetition exercises using scientific literacy analysis sheet instruments based on 2 aspects of the PISA 2015 framework. Data analysis uses descriptive statistical methods. The results of data analysis showed that scientific literacy in the category of science as an investigation has the highest percentage with a score of 45.48%. The results of the scientific literacy analysis data in the multiple choice test questions show that the aspect of knowledge has a higher percentage than the competency aspect of 86.44% with very good criteria. Whereas the results of the retrial essay practice questions have a higher percentage of 61% with good criteria.KeyWords: Science Literacy, PISA 2015 Framework, Natural Science textbooks for Junior High School, Test questions on tests

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to produce modules with guided inquiry models based on quality scientific literacy. This research was carried out in the Biology Education Laboratory of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Riau and the state junior high school 4 Pekanbaru in April-October 2019. The type of researchused is Research and Development (R&D). Module development implemented refers to the ADDIE model with the stages of Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation. This research was only carried out until the Development stage by conducting validation by a validator and a limited trial phase I by Biology Education Students of Teaching and Education Faculty of University of Riau, and a limited trial phase II by students of state junior high school 4 Pekanbaru. The assessment of the developed modules includes 5 aspects, namely the module format and graphic aspects, presentation techniques, the syntax of guided inquiry models, indicators of scientific literacy dimensions, and language assessment. The results of the average validation with the scientific inquiry based guided inquiry model was gained a score of 3.58 with a very valid category. The average results of the limited trials phase I and II was gained a score of 3.67 with a very good category. Based on these data it can be concluded that the modules with guided inquiry models based on science literacy that have been developed arecategorized as quality modules and can be used on a wide scale.KeyWords: Modules, Guided Inquiry Models, Scientific Literacy

Abstract

Abstract: The research was held with purpose to develop classroom-based assessment on biology science for 7th grade Junior High School. Classroom-based assessment include paper and pencil test, attitude assessment, performance assessment, product assessment, project assessment, self-assessment and portofolio assessment. The development was conducted at Biology Education University of Riau and the limiting test at SMPN 1 Pekanbaru. The research held on January until April 2014. Research and Development with ADDIE model was implemented in this research. Subject of this research consisted of four Basic-Competency on the 7th grade Junior High School. Validation sheet was used as the data collection instrument. This validation sheet was filled by the internal dan external validator. Collected datas were analyzed by descriptive statistics. Average results of the validity of class-based assessment are: 3.6 for the paper and pencil test, 3.7 for attitude assessment, 3.9 for performance assessment, 3.7 for product assessment, 3.8 for project assessment, 3.7 for self-assessment and 3.8 for portofolio assessment. On the last stage of the research, a limiting test was held by using self-assessment questionnaires on the 7th grade Hang Lekir of SMPN 1 Pekanbaru and the number of students is 35. Based on the research’s results, the development of classroom-based assessment on biology science for 7th grade Junior High School student was done with the ADDIE model that consists of some phase, start from analyze, design, develop, and the last is implementation in a limiting test. Based on the results of validation, classroom-based assessment could be implemented with the field test.Key words: biology science junior high school, classroom-based assessment, development

Abstract

Abstract: This research was conducted to determine the bacteria characteristicsof oil sludge waste in the area of PT Pertamina, Lirik district and its potential toproduce student worksheet designs with subject characteristics of bacteria in class XSMA KD 3.5 and 4.5. This research was conducted from December 2018 to March2019 at the Microbiology Laboratory, Faculty of Medicine, University of Riau. Thisstudy used two stages the first stage of research using qualitative descriptive todetermine the characteristics of bacteria in oil sludge waste. The parameters of thisstudy are characteristics of bacteria isolated from samples of oil sludge waste in LirikDistrict through macroscopic observations (colony shape, colony margin, colony color,and colony elevation), and microscopic (gram stain and cell shape). Phase II researchis the design of student worksheet teaching subject that uses two stages, those areanalysis and design stages. The results showed that the bacteria found had thecharacteristics of round, irregular, and filamentous. The elevations found are raised,flat, and umbonate. The margin of the colonies found were flat and lobate. The colors ofthe colonies found were white and yellow. The most common form of cells found wasrods, the most common gram found was gram negative. And the most common cell colorfound is purple. The results of this study can be used as a learning resource in the formof a student worksheet design for the subject characteristics of bacteria class of X inHigh School.Key Words : Isolation, Characteristics, Worksheets

Abstract

This study aims to improve student’s science literacy skills by using 5E Learning Cycle model. The treatment was conducted collaboratively for the topic ‘Structures and functions of plants’ involving Biology lectures, pre-service teachers, and the science school teachers of SMPN 21 Pekanbaru in August 2018. The focus of the observation was on science literacy and learning activities of students, both individually and in groups. Science literacy including scientific, procedural and epistemic knowledge was measured through worksheets. While the aspects of explaining scientific phenomena, evaluating and design scientific investigations, interpreting data, and the evidence were measured using an assessment sheet performance. Curiosity, scientific argumentation and environmental awareness were measured using the observation sheet. Learning activities carried out inside and outside the classroom had a positive impact on literacy skill science. The data showed the students individually or in groups could answer questions in the worksheet, more actively engaged, more enthusiastic and more curious when observing, identifying and grouping plants using real objects around school environment. Some questions arose from students when identifying corn and carrot plants about vegetative and generative structures. Overall, the implementation of 5E Learning Cycle model can improve students' scientific literacy in learning science at SMPN 21 Pekanbaru.

Abstract

Learning assessment in the Independent Curriculum aims to provide an overview of student learning progress in cognitive, skill, and attitudinal areas. Diagnostic assessment is a preliminary step that must be conducted before teachers design learning activities. Problem identification in the field indicates that teachers at SMPN 1 Mempura face challenges in developing quality diagnostic assessments tested for validity and reliability. Therefore, SMPN 1 Mempura requires assistance and training in implementing the Independent Curriculum, specifically in the design, implementation, and evaluation of diagnostic assessments. The service activities were conducted over six meetings, totaling 32 learning hours. These activities followed structured steps: preparation, implementation, evaluation, and measuring success through indicators. This training was deemed successful in enhancing teachers' understanding and practical skills in compiling and analyzing diagnostic assessments, which are crucial for implementing the Independent Curriculum effectively.
