Abstract

Garbage or waste is a major problem currently happening, this problem has become a serious problem, especially in big cities, not only in Indonesia, but throughout the world. Many developed countries have made various efforts to overcome these problems, but have not had a significant impact. The purpose of this research is to: 1. Make an environmentally friendly incinerator that produces charcoal and liquid smoke. 2. Expected combustion results as planned. Data collection uses 2 ways, namely: 1. Direct observation, review and find out what is needed in the process of making incinerators. 2. Literature study, collecting relevant and appropriate data, by looking at previous research related to the manufacture of incinerators as waste burning devices. The conclusions of the study are: 1. The results of the manufacture of an incinerator using a drum capacity of 200 liters with a height specification of 0.98 meters and a width of 0.58 meters. 2. The results of physical testing of this incinerator are capable of producing charcoal and liquid smoke. 3. Testing the resistance of the incinerator from the heat generated by the combustion process is very good because the drum is coated with clay, while leakage at the top cover of the combustion chamber occurs because the gasket is not heat resistant.

Abstract

The earth's surface consists of 71% water, water itself has unique characteristics, both physical and chemical. The Kampar river basin has a direct influence on the quality of groundwater (wells) for the residents of Kampung Baru Salo Hamlet. This is because this area is directly adjacent to the Kampar river, ground water (wells) in every house of the residents of Kampung Baru Hamlet is used for daily needs such as consumption, bathing and washing. Along with rapid population growth, the need for clean water is also increasing. This is one of the problems that occurs in Kampung Baru Hamlet, namely the lack of groundwater (wells) that is clean and suitable for consumption. The research carried out by the author discusses how to design a portable water purifier that is efficient and uses easily available materials. This design was carried out using the Nigel cross method. Data collection was carried out by giving questionnaires to 25 respondents who experienced difficulties with clean well water (fit for consumption). Abstract

Efficient facility layout plays a critical role in improving operational performance, learning effectiveness, and occupational comfort in vocational education workshops. This study examines the redesign of a motorcycle engineering and business workshop at a public vocational high school in Indonesia using the Systematic Layout Planning (SLP) method. The existing layout exhibited inefficient material flow, excessive travel distances, and poor spatial organization, leading to fatigue among students and reduced instructional productivity. A qualitative descriptive case-study approach was employed, supported by direct observation, process mapping, and activity relationship analysis. The SLP procedure was applied through the development of Operation Process Charts, Activity Relationship Charts (ARC), Activity Relationship Diagrams (ARD), and block layout alternatives. The proposed layout demonstrates a substantial reduction in inter-facility travel distance and improved logical sequencing of learning activities. The findings confirm that SLP is an effective and adaptable approach for optimizing educational workshop layouts, contributing to improved operational efficiency and a safer, more conducive learning environment.

Abstract

This research aims to design a biomass waste shredder using the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method to create a product that aligns with the needs and desires of users. The QFD method is employed to identify user requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and produce an optimal product design. The study involved 20 respondents from the Universitas Pahlawan Botanical Garden team as subjects to collect data on needs through closed questionnaires. The results indicate that consumers desire a shredder with key criteria, including speeding up the shredding process, high durability, safety in use, as well as ease of mobility and storage. The designed shredder product features several advantages, such as: An inlet feeder for biomass waste, six cutting blades with a bolt system, wheels for easy transportation. Through the House of Quality (HOQ) matrix, consumer needs were successfully translated into priorities for the development of the product's technical features. Compared to other shredders, this shredder has competitive advantages in functional aspects, user safety, and design. This demonstrates that the application of the QFD method is effective in producing an innovative, functional shredder design that meets user preferences. The findings of this study are expected to serve as a reference for the future development of shredder products.
