Abstract

There is a serious problem of stunting in Indonesia, specifically stunted growth due to malnutrition during a child's growth period. This condition not only affects physical health but also affects cognitive, emotional, and mental aspects. Therefore, specific measures are needed to overcome this problem. With the aim of overcoming developmental delays, this service explores the potential of the TOR BISCUIT innovation as a Breast Milk Supplement (MP-ASI) for stunted children aged 12-18 months. The service uses a case study approach and combines quantitative and qualitative methods. The service's sample included 77 stunted children who received cookies, and the military also conducted face-to-face interviews with parents in the target service area, specifically the Belawan region. This undertaking not only aims to explore the effectiveness of TOR BISCUIT Innovation as MP-ASI but also aims to provide concrete and effective solutions to tackle the problem of stunting in Indonesia. By applying a combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches, it is hoped that this service can provide a comprehensive picture of the impact of providing these biscuits on growth and development of stunted children. It is hoped that the results of this service can provide a solid basis for governments, health organizations and communities to implement effective and sustainable interventions to reduce stunting rates. in Indonesia. In this way, it is hoped that Indonesia's young generation can grow and develop optimally, thereby better contributing to the country's progress.

Abstract

The number of patients who come to the emergency department makes nurses have to sort patients quickly and precisely according to priority. It requires knowledge and attitude in terms of segregation of patient type and emergency in triage, so that patient care can be more optimal and directed. This study aimed to find out the correlation between nurses’ knowledge and attitudes of triage. The research used a correlation research method with a cross-sectional approach. The study was carried out at the emergency room of Dr. H Kumpulan Pane General Hospital in Tebing Tinggi City, Rantau Prapat General Hospital, and Tuan Rondahaim Simalungun General Hospital from January to August 2020. The samples of this study were 46 nurses in charge at the emergency room of Dr. H Kumpulan Pane General Hospital in Tebing Tinggi City, Rantau Prapat General Hospital, and Tuan Rondahaim Simalungun General Hospital, taken by total sampling. Abstract

ABSTRACT Surgical site infection (SSI) is a major postoperative complication that increases morbidity, mortality, and healthcare burden. The implementation of the Surgical safety Checklist (SSC) is considered a key preventive strategy, yet its effectiveness remains debated. This study aimed to analyze the association between SSC completeness and SSI, as well as other clinical factors, among surgical patients at RSUD Panyabungan. A cross-sectional design was applied with total sampling of 873 surgical patients from January to April 2025. Data were obtained from medical records and analyzed using multivariate logistic regression. The incidence of SSI was 5.6%. Compliance with SSC was relatively high: Sign In 79.4%, Time Out 80.6%, and Sign Out 80.3%. Bivariate analysis revealed that incomplete SSC in all phases was significantly associated with increased SSI risk (crude OR 6–19; p<0.001). Additional factors such as ≥2 comorbidities (OR 7.02; p<0.001), and emergency surgery (OR 2.99; p=0.006) were also associated with SSI. In the final logistic regression model, independent predictors of SSI were: complete Sign In as a strong protective factor (AOR=0.057; 95% CI: 0.027–0.120; p<0.001), ≥1 comorbidity (AOR=3.075; 95% CI: 1.803–5.246; p<0.001), and emergency surgery compared to elective procedures (AOR=4.274; 95% CI: 1.612–11.335; p=0.003). This study highlights the strong association between Sign In completeness and lower SSI risk, and emphasizes the need for optimizing perioperative management among patients with comorbidities and those undergoing emergency surgery. Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the determinants associated with the mental health condition of final-year undergraduate students at the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business, UIN Sumatera Utara, in 2025. The research employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 278 respondents selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through standardized questionnaires and analyzed using the chi-square test. The results showed that the majority of respondents (68.0%) were categorized as experiencing severe mental health disorders, 21.2% experienced mild disorders, and only 10.8% showed no symptoms of mental health problems. All independent variables—namely resilience level, coping strategies, social support, financial pressure, and academic pressure—were statistically significantly associated with mental health status (p < 0.05). Students with low resilience were more than twice as likely to experience severe mental disorders compared to those with high resilience (OR = 2.648; 95% CI: 2.404–2.879). The risk was also higher among students with weak coping strategies (OR = 2.959), low social support (OR = 2.908), high financial pressure (OR = 1.947), and high academic pressure (OR = 1.601). These findings emphasize that the psychological condition of final-year students is influenced by the interplay of various internal and external factors and highlight the need for holistic interventions to improve mental well-being within Islamic higher education institutions.

Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that affects the quality of human resources and remains a major public health challenge in Indonesia, including Dairi Regency, which has a prevalence of 28.6%. In Siempat Nempu Hulu Subdistrict, the prevalence increased from 15.36% in 2022 to 21.17% in 2023, indicating that the implementation of stunting reduction policies has not been optimal. This study aims to analyze the implementation of stunting reduction policies through specific and sensitive nutrition interventions. This research used a qualitative approach with a case study design. Eight informants were selected purposively, comprising health office officials, health workers, village officials, posyandu cadres, and families with children under five. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and document analysis, and the data were analyzed thematically based on Edward III’s policy implementation theory, which includes communication, resources, implementers’ disposition, and bureaucratic structure. The results showed that inter-institutional communication was well established but not fully effective at the community level. Resources were available but not optimally utilized, implementers showed good commitment, and the bureaucratic structure was established but still faced coordination and socio-economic challenges. It is concluded that policy implementation has not been optimal, thus requiring strengthened communication, community empowerment, and improved resource utilization.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the perception, preparedness, and adaptation strategies of the community residing along the Deli Riverbanks in Aur Village, Medan, against the threat of recurring floods. This area is a densely populated settlement with high vulnerability to annual river overflows. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews with 11 informants, field observations, and documentation. The results indicate that community perception has undergone risk normalization, where small-scale flooding is perceived as a natural seasonal routine, thereby decreasing emotional vigilance. Regarding preparedness, the study reveals an absence of a formal Early Warning System (EWS) and limited standard evacuation equipment. However, the community has developed informal preparedness based on local knowledge and observations of natural signs. Adaptation strategies are implemented structurally through the construction of two-story or stilt houses and socially through the strengthening of social capital in the form of inter-neighbor solidarity and mutual cooperation (gotong royong) practices. This study concludes that community resilience in Aur Village is primarily supported by collective experience and strong social bonds rather than formal government infrastructure support.
