Abstract

Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) is one of the competencies that must be trained from early childhood to university so that students can compete globally. The facts show that the competence of students in Indonesia is still classified at the LOTS level. Therefore, various efforts are needed to improve the competence of students so that the level of competency they have can increase. This research aims to increase student HOTS in Waves and Optics courses through online lectures using the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model. This research was conducted in 5 meetings, from April 19 2022 to May 31 2022. The research subjects consisted of 27 students who took Waves and Optics lectures in Class IV-B, in the Physics Education Study Program, University of Mataram, Academic Year 2021/2022. The research instrument for obtaining HOTS score data is an essay test given at the beginning of the meeting and at the end of the meeting. The increase in HOTS scores is calculated using the N-gain test. The results showed that the average HOTS score of students in the initial test was 55, while in the final test it was 79. The N-gain score was 54 which is included in the medium category. Thus, it can be concluded that online lectures using the Project Based Learning model in the Waves and Optics course increase the HOTS scores of prospective physics teacher students.

Abstract

Entrepreneurial attitude needs to be developed as early as possible so that students have the provision of life skills in the future. Students are expected to become job creators or entrepreneurs when they graduate from school so that students can quickly respond to changes. The purpose of this study was to analyze the science learning based on the Sasak tradition to develop students' entrepreneurial attitudes. The research method used is literature review derived from articles in national and international scientific journals. The results of the literature review show that entrepreneurial attitudes that can be developed include: achievement motivation, taking advantage of opportunities, being creative, innovating, committed, responsible, and independent. One of the science learning models that can facilitate the development of students' entrepreneurial attitudes is the 6E learning cycle model (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, Exhibit, Evaluate). This model can be related to the traditions of the Sasak tribe, such as weaving typical Lombok cloths that utilize the concept of substances and their characteristics, and making traditional snacks using conventional biotechnology concepts. An entrepreneurial attitude can be developed at each stage, especially at the Exhibit stage, students can exhibit products that have a selling value, such as Sukarara woven cloth and jajan poteng reket. Thus, science learning based on the Sasak tradition is expected to be a strong foundation for further education and to shape the entrepreneurial spirit of students so that they become a generation of superior and character.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the mastery of learning outcomes in the cognitive domain of students in Waves and Optics lectures using PhET simulation media. This pre-experimental research is a quantitative descriptive study. The research subjects consisted of 14 students in class IVB who took the Waves and Optics course in the Even Semester of 2023. The lectures were held in 6 meetings, from 16 February to 30 March 2023. The research instrument used a written test in the form of an essay which was given after the lecture had used PhET simulation media. The percentage of completeness of students' cognitive learning outcomes is obtained by dividing the total score by the maximum score multiplied by 100%. Students are declared to have completed their learning outcomes (individual completeness) if they have reached a score of 75 as the limit for mastery of the material, while classical completeness in this study determined that a class is said to have completed learning if in that class there are more than 80% of students who have completed their studies. The results showed that the average student score was 81 (grade conversion was B+). The lowest score is 70 (grade conversion is C+), while the highest value is 90 (grade conversion is A). Of the 14 students, there were 2 students whose learning outcomes were declared incomplete. Thus, the percentage of students' cognitive learning outcomes in the Waves and Optics course is declared classically completed by 86%. PhET simulation media can be an alternative learning media to help students master the physics concepts of waves and optics

Abstract

Education in the 21st century currently requires students to improve higher-order thinking skills (Higher Other Thinking Skills), one of which is creative thinking skills. A good conceptual understanding will support higher-order thinking skills, especially creative thinking skills. This study aims to reduce students' misconceptions about the concept of vibration and waves with CCM CCA and to improve students' creative thinking skills. Subjects in this case amounted to 29 students. Students' creative thinking skills are measured from the results of tests carried out 2 times, namely in the form of an initial test (pretest) and a final test (posttest) which refer to indicators of students' creative thinking skills. Items in both tests are equipped with response answers (reasons for answering questions) and all test items are equipped with several answer choices that indicate the level of certainty of answer responses. The method in this research is descriptive quantitative. The results of the study show that the CCM CCA learning model can reduce students' misconceptions about vibration and wave concepts and improve their creative thinking skills.
