Abstract

(Title: The Dynamics of Puppet Culture Towards The World of Reality in Wayang Pesisiran). The world of puppetry is so attached to Javanese society where the changes of the times does not detract from the existence of puppets in Javanese people's lives. This study aims to describe the characteristics of coastal puppets and the dynamics of puppet culture towards the world of reality in coastal puppets using qualitative approaches. The data source used is a video of coastal puppets and interviews to Ki Kartono. Data is collected by means of listen, record, and interview. The data analysis used was the qualitative analysis of Miles &Huberman (1992). Based on the results of research, coastal puppet shows always begin by introducing the mission of the show and introducing the main characters in the play to be told. The cultural dynamics of puppetry towards the world of reality in coastal puppets contain at least six dynamics, namely: a) religious; b) greetings; c) the territory of the country; d) socio-cultural; e) the growth of life (kasampurnaning dumadi); and f) employment. The dynamics that occur in the world of puppetry indicates the dynamic in Javanese puppetry in an effort to continue to maintain its existence in modern times today. Keywords: cultural dynamics, the world of reality, wayang pesisiran

Abstract

A song, as a form of art, offers learning opportunities for its listeners through the messages conveyed by the songwriter. The song "Anak Lanang," composed by Daru Jaya, also known as Ndarboy Genk, and Hendra Kumbara, is a Javanese song that reflects the experiences of boys and the social life of the Javanese community. This study employs qualitative research and utilizes the theory of critical discourse analysis developed by Teun A. Van Dijk. It has two main objectives: first, to examine the macro, micro, and superstructure levels of the song; and second, to explore the gender ideology, social cognition, and social context embedded within it. The theme of masculinity is identified as the macro structure. The superstructure of the song consists of the elements that shape its overall comprehension. The microstructure addresses the linguistic aspects that illustrate how language conveys social criticism and builds the song's meaning. The social cognition present in this song reflects the narrative of an individual’s journey, showcasing a boy's life alongside the associated social paradigms. Additionally, the social context highlights elements of masculinity and the challenges faced by boys, which resonate with Javanese listeners due to the relevance of the story to their own lives.

Abstract

The limitations of deaf students in hearing significantly impact the minimal reception of information from their environment. This encourages deaf students to utilize their visual senses more by reading. This study aims to create a mobile learning product based on a multisensory approach to learning to read descriptive texts to improve the descriptive text reading skills of deaf students. This study uses a research and development method by adopting the Four-D model as a procedure for developing the product. The subjects in this study were deaf students, 2 media experts, 2 material and language experts, and an Indonesian subject teacher. This study's data were from observations, interviews, and questionnaires. The data analysis technique used a qualitative descriptive approach and a quantitative descriptive approach. This study has produced mobile learning based on a multisensory approach to learning to read descriptive texts that is feasible and practical for deaf students. In addition, this mobile learning is equipped with visual, tactile, and interactivity elements that support the multisensory principle that can be implemented in learning to read descriptive texts. This study concludes that mobile learning is very effective in helping deaf students understand the material and overcome the limitations of learning resources. This research implies that mobile learning can help overcome the limitations of learning resources for deaf students and is very effective in supporting the improvement of reading skills.
