Abstract

The institutionalization of hybrid work has intensified financial consultants' reliance on digital engagement to sustain productivity under Flexible Work Arrangements (FWA). However, this process is still predominantly understood through quantitative, variable-based measures. This study aims to explore how digital engagement constructs financial consultant productivity within FWA practices in the Indonesian futures and brokerage sector. Using a descriptive qualitative case study design, data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews, passive participatory observation, and documentation study involving five financial consultants from Indonesian futures and brokerage companies, analyzed through reflexive thematic analysis and Miles & Huberman’s interactive model, with Job Demands-Resources (JD-R) Theory serving as a sensitizing framework. Four themes emerged: (1) digital engagement as a constructive process shaping professional identity, (2) productivity as a layered integration of market analysis and client communication, (3) digital transparency as the foundation of client trust, and (4) JD-R duality experienced differently across managerial and operational levels. These findings suggest that financial consultant productivity in hybrid work is constructed through active interaction and contextual meaning-making rather than a standardized measurable output, offering a basis for organizations to design FWA policies grounded in individual digital readiness and structured digital boundary management.

Abstract

This study examines changes in financial reporting transparency before and after the implementation of an Accounting Information System (AIS) and its implications for managerial control in a project-based environmental consulting firm. Using a qualitative comparative case study, data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed thematically. Findings show that manual reporting created delays and limited monitoring, while AIS adoption improved integration, timeliness, and cost oversight. The findings contribute to the AIS literature by highlighting financial reporting transparency as an integral component of managerial control in project-based organizations

Abstract

This study aims to examine and analyze the effect of augmented reality (virtual try-on) on purchase intention through customer satisfaction for Maybelline cosmetic products on the Shopee marketplace. The study applied an explanatory quantitative approach, and data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire. The sample was selected through non-probability sampling with a purposive sampling method involving 212 female respondents who had seen, known, or purchased Maybelline cosmetic products on Shopee and had used the Shopee BeautyCam feature. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modelling-Partial Least Square with Smart-PLS 3.0. The findings show that augmented reality has a positive effect on customer satisfaction with a coefficient of 0.899, t-statistic of 36.597, and p-value of 0.000. Augmented reality also has a positive effect on purchase intention with a coefficient of 0.777, t-statistic of 14.899, and p-value of 0.000. Customer satisfaction positively affects purchase intention with a coefficient of 0.193, t-statistic of 3.671, and p-value of 0.000. Furthermore, customer satisfaction mediates the effect of augmented reality on purchase intention with a coefficient of 0.173, t-statistic of 3.702, and p-value of 0.000. These results indicate that an interactive, realistic, and novel virtual try-on experience can increase customer satisfaction and strengthen purchase intention toward Maybelline cosmetic products on Shopee.

Abstract

Introduction: This study examines how website design and brand awareness influence purchase intention among Shopee users in Surabaya, Indonesia, given the intense competition among e-commerce platforms and the need to understand key drivers of consumers’ buying decisions. Methods: A quantitative explanatory design was employed using an online questionnaire survey. Respondents were Shopee users residing in Surabaya, aged 17–40 years, and had made purchases on Shopee within the last year. The sample was selected through purposive sampling, and the analysis applied Structural Equation Modelling–Partial Least Squares (PLS-SEM) by assessing both the measurement model (reliability and validity) and the structural model (path significance and explained variance). Results: The findings show that brand awareness has a positive and significant effect on purchase intention (O = 0.656; t = 6.763; p = 0.000), while website design has a positive but non-significant effect (O = 0.172; t = 1.806; p = 0.072). The model explains a moderate proportion of variance in purchase intention (R² = 0.588), indicating that brand-related factors play a more decisive role than interface design in shaping purchase intentions on an established marketplace platform. Conclusion and suggestion: Overall, the results indicate that brand awareness is the key factor influencing purchase intention among Shopee users in Surabaya, while website design shows a positive but non-significant effect. Therefore, strengthening brand awareness should be prioritized, supported by maintaining an adequate website design to ensure a positive user experience. Abstract

Problematic social media use and procrastination have become major behavioural challenges among Generation Z students. However, previous studies have primarily focused on the direct effects of Emotional Intelligence, while the psychological mechanism underlying these relationships remains insufficiently understood. This study aims to examine the effects of emotional intelligence on problematic social media use and procrastination, investigate the mediating role of self-control, and compare the structural relationships between male and female students using Multi-Group Analysis (MGA). A quantitative explanatory approach was employed using data collected from 226 Generation Z respondents through a structured questionnaire. The proposed model was analysed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) and MGA. The findings indicate that emotional intelligence does not significantly reduce problematic social media use but significantly reduces procrastination behaviour and positively influences self-control. Furthermore, self-control significantly reduces both problematic social media use and procrastination behaviour and mediates the relationships between emotional intelligence and both behavioural outcomes. This study contributes to the literature by demonstrating that self-control serves as an underlying psychological mechanism linking emotional intelligence with adaptive digital behaviour among Generation Z. The findings provide practical implications for educational institutions to strengthen emotional intelligence and self-control in promoting digital well-being.

Abstract

Background: Indonesia’s digital platform economy has expanded market access for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), yet prior studies have not sufficiently examined how algorithmic opacity interacts with capital constraints to produce differential visibility outcomes for MSMEs. Purpose: This study explores how algorithmic governance shapes MSME fragility and resilience in Indonesia’s digital platform economy by examining visibility dependence, unequal platform literacy, capital-based exposure, and collaborative adaptation. Method: Using a qualitative exploratory case-study design, this study draws on semi-structured interviews with MSME owners/managers operating on major Indonesian e-commerce platforms. The data were analyzed through iterative thematic coding, constant comparison, and source triangulation across participant accounts and supporting contextual documents. Results: The findings reveal five major themes: algorithmic opacity as a source of visibility fragility, cognitive stratification in MSME adaptation, capital fragility and unequal platform exposure, collaboration as collective resilience, and the need for fair platform governance and inclusive digital policy. These findings indicate that MSME resilience is not determined merely by access to digital platforms, but by sellers’ capacity to interpret algorithmic signals, mobilize resources, participate in collaborative networks, and operate within transparent and accountable platform ecosystems. Conclusion: The study shows that MSME resilience is shaped not only by digital adoption but also by sellers’ capacity to interpret algorithmic signals, mobilize resources, and participate in collaborative networks. This study contributes by positioning cognitive stratification as an analytical lens explaining how unequal platform literacy mediates algorithmic governance and MSME vulnerability.
