Abstract

This study aims to analyze the signs and meanings in the poetry anthology Museum Penghancur Dokumen by Afrizal Malna using Roland Barthes' semiotic theory. Frizal Malna is a poet known for his writing style, which often uses everyday objects as symbols to express social and human realities. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a literature review approach. The research data consists of the text of the poetry anthology, which is analyzed through three levels of meaning: denotative, connotative, and mythical. The results of the analysis show that at the denotative level, these poems use various simple objects that are familiar in everyday life, such as erasers, glue, scissors, rulers, and paper. At the connotative level, these objects become symbols of loss, alienation, social wounds, and emptiness in modern life. Meanwhile, at the mythical level, this poem forms a grand narrative about humans who are often trapped in social systems and the Indonesian nation that has not yet completely escaped the shadow of colonialism. Thus, this work presents social criticism and deep reflection on the condition of modern humans.

Abstract

This study aims to examine social and spiritual values in the poems of Iyut Fitra through the sociological approach to literature. Using a descriptive qualitative method and content analysis, fifteen poems were analyzed based on thematic relevance and symbolic strength. The findings reveal four main patterns: social patriotic, narrative social, realist social critique, and reflective religious. These patterns represent the poet’s ideological journey from collective social struggle to profound spiritual reflection. The results indicate that Iyut Fitra’s poetry functions not only as an aesthetic expression but also as a medium for social, moral, and spiritual reflection, emphasizing the poet’s moral responsibility toward humanity. Thus, his works serve as both a mirror of social reality and a vehicle for moral and spiritual awareness.

Abstract

Background. Richard Eliezer's confession after the verdict in the Rosi program on Kompas TV attracted public and media attention. This confession contains complex dimensions in terms of legal, social, and psychological aspects that deserve further analysis. The discourse that occurs in this program reflects the dynamics of power and ideology that influence public perception. Purpose. This research aims to analyze the critical discourse of Richard Eliezer's confession after the verdict in the Rosi program on Kompas TV. This analysis will explore how the language and narratives used by Richard Eliezer and the program presenters shape public perception of his case and identify the ideology and power operating behind the discourse. Method. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. The method of analysis in this research is description and interpretation. The data of this research is taken from the discourse of the news video of Richard Eliezer's expression after the verdict of the murder of Brigadier Yoshua. Results. The results showed that Richard Eliezer's confession was structured with language that sought to construct his image as a victim and seek public sympathy. The program presenter played an important role in reinforcing this narrative through empathetic and supportive questions. The ideologies identified in this discourse include attempts to redefine justice and challenge existing power structures. Conclusion. That the discourse in the Rosi program related to Richard Eliezer's confession after the verdict shows efforts to reconstruct self-image through the strategic use of language and narrative. The discourse not only reflects the power and ideology operating but also directs public opinion towards a particular interpretation of justice. This analysis provides a deeper understanding of how the media can influence perceptions and shape social reality.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menelusuri maksud dan makna yang terkandung dalam antologi puisi Impromptu Terzina karya Ewith Bahar dengan menggunakan pendekatan semiotika. Kumpulan puisi ini terdiri atas karya tiga baris (terzina) yang diciptakan secara spontan, namun mengandung simbolisme yang kuat serta refleksi mendalam terhadap kehidupan. Melalui metode kualitatif dengan analisis deskriptif, penelitian ini berupaya mengungkap tanda-tanda linguistik dan makna tersembunyi di balik pemilihan diksi serta citraan yang digunakan oleh penyair. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa Impromptu Terzina memuat tiga tema pokok, yaitu cinta, spiritualitas, dan sosial. Tema cinta menonjolkan ketulusan serta keabadian rasa; tema spiritual menggambarkan proses refleksi dan perjalanan batin manusia; sedangkan tema sosial mengandung kritik terhadap menurunnya kesadaran literasi dan intelektualitas di tengah masyarakat modern. Dengan gaya bahasa yang singkat, padat, dan penuh simbol, Ewith Bahar berhasil mengubah bentuk minimalis tiga baris menjadi media ekspresi estetika dan filosofi kehidupan. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memperluas apresiasi terhadap puisi kontemporer Indonesia serta memberikan kontribusi pada pengembangan kajian semiotika sastra.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggali makna yang tersirat dalam beberapa karya puisi terpilih dari Antologi Empedu Tanah (2019) yang ditulis oleh Inggit Putria Marga dengan menggunakan pendekatan pragmatisme, khususnya melalui pandangan William James dan Kenneth Burke. Pendekatan ini menekankan bahwa makna dan kebenaran dalam puisi ditentukan oleh dampak nyata yang ditimbulkannya pada kehidupan, moralitas, dan kesadaran pembaca, bukan hanya oleh keindahan dari bahasanya. metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan menganalisis beberapa puisi dalam konteks sosisal, psikologis, dan filosofis yang terkandung dalam karya tersebut. hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa setiap puisi tidak hanya menawarkan keindahabn Bahasa, tetapi juga menyampaikan pesan etis, kritik terhadap masyarakat, serta refleksi spiritual yang mendorong pembaca unruk bertindak dan merenungkan kehidupannya. kebenaran dakam karya-karya itu bersifat pragmatis, yang artinya tergantung pada seberapa ampuh teks tersebut dalam mengubah perspektif, perilaku, dan empati pembaca terhadap realitas kemanusiaan. oleh karena itu, teori pragmatisme sangat relavan untuk memahami lapisan-lapisan makna yang tersembunyi dalam sastra modern, khususnya puisi-puisi kontemporer Indonesia yang kaya akan simbolisme, kritik sosial, dan nilai-nilai etika.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the psychological dimensions and symbolic values in the poetry anthology Hidup Tetap Berjalan dan Kita Telah Lupa Alasannya by Ibe S. Palogai through the analytical psychology framework of Carl Gustav Jung. Poetry is understood not merely as a product of the poet’s imagination, but also as an expression shaped by social conditions and layers of personal unconsciousness that generate collective symbols. Employing a descriptive qualitative method and intensive reading techniques, this research analyzes 40 poems in the anthology and categorizes them into Jung’s four archetypes: persona, shadow, anima, and self. The findings indicate that the shadow archetype is the most dominant, reflected in strong social criticism, existential anxiety, and inner tension toward modern realities. The persona archetype appears through distorted identity symbols and representations of social masks. The anima archetype is expressed in emotional closeness, dreams, and memories that signal a need for inner healing. Meanwhile, the self archetype emerges in the poet’s deep reflections on meaning, connectedness, and the pursuit of wholeness. Overall, the anthology can be interpreted as a psychological journey toward individuation—the process of understanding, integrating, and discovering the true self. This research offers a novel contribution to literary psychology studies as the first analysis to map all Jungian archetypes within this anthology.
