Abstract

Buleleng Regency has many old and unique temples which are very interesting to study. One of them is Sari Temple in Selat Pandan Banten Village, Sukasada District. In addition to the unique shape of the building, this temple also has a ritual ethic that distinguishes it from temples in general. The purpose of writing this article is to examine the forms and values of ritual ethics in this temple. By using the methods of observation, interviews and documentation studies, the authors examine the existence of Sari Temple and the ritual ethics of the temple. Based on research results, the sacred building at Sari Temple is still in the form of bebaturan which has been maintained until now. The community agreed to maintain the original form of the temple because apart from preservation purposes, it is also because of the community's belief that has been passed down from generation to generation to always maintain the originality of the temple. Apart from being related to the shape of the building, this temple also has ritual ethics, that are worship is carried out without using bells, not using gongs and performing dances in the main area of the temple and not being allowed to offer four-legged animals (suku pat). All of this is a form of implementation of religious teachings and the people's efforts to continue to carry out the traditions from generation to generation.

Abstract

Buahan Village, as one of the villages on the outskirts of Lake Batur, since old time has local wisdom that has positive implications for the sustainability of Lake Batur. This research aims to examine local wisdom so that the ancestral heritage can be understood and implemented in daily life, so the preservation of the lake can be maintained. The type of qualitative descriptive research using observation methods, in-depth interviews and analysis of various relevant literature was used in this research. Based on the research results, it shows that the community in Buahan Village is making efforts to preserve Lake Batur through local wisdom, including through the establishment and preservation of sacred buildings as the sthana of Ida Bhatari Dewi Danuh who is believed to be the owner of Lake Batur. Buahan Village also has regulations on the use of lake borders which are still implemented today so that if you look at the conditions around, the border area of Buahan Village has very few buildings compared to other villages around Lake Batur. The preservation efforts carried out by the community have had positive implications for the lives of the people, both from a spiritual, intellectual and emotional perspective. This research draws the conclusion that the efforts to preserve Lake Batur carried out by the community in Buahan Village are indirectly a form of self-realization that humans are part of an ecological community that cannot possibly live without nature, so nature really needs to be preserved.

Abstract

Water holds a highly significant position in the lives of Hindus, not only as a basic necessity but also as an essential element in religious and social activities. However, over time, the quality and quantity of water in Bali have degraded, including in the villages of Medahan and Keramas in Blahbatuh Subdistrict, Gianyar Regency. This research aims to rediscover the values of deep ecology ethics in the efforts to preserve the water sources in these two villages to ensure that the water sources remain sustainable and can be passed down to future generations. This research uses observation, interviews and documentation studies to collect data, as well as qualitative descriptive methods to present research results. Based on research results, it was found that Medahan and Keramas villages have numerous water sources that are socially and spiritually significant. The community preserves them through the construction of sacred sites, the instilling of beliefs about the importance of water sources, the installation of warning signs, and communal efforts to clean the water sources. These water conservation actions, practiced and passed down by the community, are closely linked to the principles of deep ecology ethics, which urge humans to respect nature and recognize the rights of nature as equal to human rights. This ethic asserts that all living beings possess intrinsic value and are deserving of moral consideration. The implementation of deep ecology ethics emphasizes love and reverence for nature, akin to love for God. This research shows that the preservation of water sources in Medahan and Keramas is not only an ecological action but also a spiritual expression that reflects harmony between humans, nature, and God.
