Abstract

Casting is a manufacturing process that uses molten metal and molds to obtain a product that is closer to its final geometry. The quality of casting products is influenced by several factors and one of the important factors is the mold. The sand that is often used in making molds is resin coated sand, since this sand will bond to one another if it is heated. The research focus is determine the effects of grain size and heating temperature of resin coated sand on the mechanical properties of the mold which include compressive, shear and tensile strength. This study used an experimental method with large parameters of resin coated sand and heating temperature. From the test results, the highest compressive, shear and tensile strength values are Produced by sand with grain size less than 300 µm are identified.. The high heating temperature makes the bonds between the sands stronger and the strength value is higher..

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic condition that has hit the world has had a significant impact on various sectors. Health facilities need information system support in their services. Breaking the distribution chain can be done by maintaining a physical distance. However, in reality, people are still indifferent. There is a possibility that the patient is infected but shows no symptoms or is lying to the point of endangering medical personnel. In addition, there is a stigma in the community so that they are afraid to go to health facilities. Even though it cannot be denied that in certain conditions patients should still have their conditions checked by a doctor. The development of this online registration system aims to reduce the risk of contact between patients and medical personnel. The real-time queue monitoring feature helps patients to wait in line anywhere, so they are not in the patient's waiting room. This system is able to provide real-time queues for examinations in all polyclinics. This can reduce public anxiety about coming to health facilities. Abstract

Along with advances in science and technology in creative industry, the production process no longer relies on manual creativity, but develops and expands the application of technology to simplify and accelerate the production process. One example of the creative industry sector that applies technological developments is the miniature industry. A new technology that is starting to be in demand among miniature manufacturers is the Fused Depositition Modeling (FDM) technology. It is a method using solid base rapid prototyping technology with an extrusion process and is a solution to the above problems. Polylactic Acid (PLA) is one of the materials used by miniature manufacturers, because this material is included in the aliphatic polyester group which is made from α-hydroxy acid and has degraded properties, making this material relatively safer for health and the environment. The research focuses on the mechanical properties of FDM technology with PLA filament materials, especially tensile and bending strength. This study used an experimental method with reference to the FDM machining parameters with a variation of the fill density from 0.1 to 1.0. Based on the results of experiments and tests that have been done, the tensile strength values are 29.063 - 36.215 MPa and the bending strengths are between 42.520 - 80.315 MPa. Therefore based on the test results it can be concluded that the fill density parameter affects the tensile and bending strengths produced by FDM technology with PLA material.

Abstract

The search for the shortest path of the waste collection process is an interesting topic that can be applied to various cases, from a very practical basic problem to a complex automation system development. In a dense settlement, the waste collection system can be a challenging process, especially to determine the most optimized path. The obstacles can be circling streets, impassable roads, and dead-end roads. A wrong choice of method can result in wasteful consumption of energy. A possible method to solve the problem is the traveling salesman problem using ant colony search optimization, considering its relatively fast optimization process. Therefore, this paper proposes an application of ant colony and traveling salesperson problem in determining the shortest path of the waste collection process. The case study for the optimization algorithm application is the path UGM Sekip Lecturer Housing is considering. Firstly, the data was collected by measuring the distance between points. Then, the paths were modeled and then compared with the actual route used by waste transport vehicles. The last step is implementing the ant colony optimization and traveling salesman problem by determining the cost function and the parameters. The optimization process was conducted several times, considering the random generator within the algorithm. The simulation results show the probable shortest path with a value of about 752 meters so that the use of fossil fuels in waste transport vehicles can be more efficient. The results show that the algorithm can automatically recommend the minimized path length to collect waste.

Abstract

The development of the materials for construction more rapidly. It is characterized by the increasing number of manufacturers that produce materials that has the same strength, but with a lighter weight and better durable. One ingredient that is getting a lot of use is light-weight steel. This research aims to determine the resistance of light-weight steel corrosion surrounding sea water. The testing is done by taking a light-weight steel 3 different brands, then testing to determine the layer thickness zincalume each brand. Further corrosion testing with a variety of media corrosion from seawater from three different sources, from North sea of Indonesia represented by the West Coast of Aceh, from South of Java Island represented Samas Beach, and from North of Java island represented Port of Tanjung Mas Semarang with sea water content variation dilution 10x, 50xand 100x. The results show that the condition of sea water from 3 sources test results showed no difference in the rate of mild steel corrosion layer zincalume meaning. Zincalume coated with 10 micron layer can improve the corrosion resistance of light-weight steel in sea water environments up to 4.9 compared without coating. Three brands mild steel A, B and C with zincalume layer thickness between 10 to 20 microns did not show differences in the corrosion rate of light-weight steel which means at various concentrations of sea water dilution.

Abstract

The performance of the gutter brooms sweeping system was studied by conducting an experimental sweeping test. The test is carried out by operating a sweeper system to sweep plastic, paper, and leaf waste. The test results show that at a broom rotation speed of 150,6 rpm, the sweeping of plastic obtained a 100% sweeping success rate with the three settings for the height of the broom, while the sweeping of leaf waste obtained a 100% sweeping success rate at the broom position ± 0 mm touching the road surface and the sweeping of paper waste obtained a 100% sweeping success rate at the broom position ± 15 mm pressing the road surface. The comprehensive system of the gutter brooms type of road sweeper vehicle prototype can show sweeping performance with a 100% success rate, although the success rate of the sweeping is uncertain for different sweeping situations.

Abstract

Splitting merupakan salah satu tahapan proses produksi bambu laminasi. Splitting dilakukan dengan mesin pembelah bambu untuk mengubah batang bambu menjadi bilah-bilah bambu. Dalam proses splitting, komponen booster bergerak maju-mundur di sepanjang rel untuk mendorong bambu yang terletak pada bagian penopang sampai ujung bambu bertumbukan dengan pisau pembelah sehingga batang bambu terbelah menjadi bilah-bilah (bamboo strips). Pada mesin pembelah bambu terdapat track roller bearing yang berfungsi sebagai guide roller. Salah satu komponen penting dalam rangkaian track roller bearing adalah poros. Kasus kegagalan komponen berupa patahnya poros track roller bearing telah dijumpai pada mesin pembelah bambu yang terdapat di sentra kerajinan bambu, Rosse Bambu Yogyakarta. Kerusakan komponen mesin tentu menghambat berjalannya proses produksi bambu laminasi, oleh sebab itu dilakukan analisis kegagalan dalam penelitian ini dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui faktor penyebab kegagalan yang dialami oleh poros track roller bearing pada mesin pembelah bambu sekaligus sebagai upaya antisipasi untuk menghindari terjadinya kasus kegagalan yang serupa. Analisis kegagalan dilakukan dengan melakukan pengujian komposisi kimia material dengan metode Atomic Emission Spectroscopy (AES), pengamatan visual dan pengamatan skala makro terhadap permukaan patahan yang terbentuk, pengujian metalografi untuk mengetahui struktur mikro material poros track roller bearing yang patah, dan pengujian kekerasan Vickers. Permukaan patahan poros tampak terang dan berbentuk granular menunjukkan karakteristik patah getas. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa material poros terbuat dari baja karbon tinggi AISI 1080 yang telah menerima perlakuan quenching dengan nilai kekerasan material sebesar 311,59 HV sehingga material bersifat keras dan getas. Sifat tersebut mengakibatkan poros tidak mampu menahan beban kejut yang diterima saat proses pembelahan bambu berlangsung. Kesimpulan yang diperoleh yaitu kegagalan yang terjadi disebabkan oleh faktor pemilihan material dan perlakuan panas yang dilakukan tidak sesuai untuk aplikasi poros track roller bearing pada mesin pembelah bambu.

Abstract

The hydraulic system is a power transmission system by using the compressive energy of the fluid into mechanical energy to obtain a power greater than the initial power released. The press machine is one of the pieces of equipment that apply the hydraulic system. In the process of making laminated bamboo, the bamboo gluing technique is assisted using a press machine. Based on observations, the press machine used is a manual press machine, so the pressing process is not efficient. This study aims to increase the effectiveness of pressing laminated bamboo. The results of the study found that the press machine has 4 hydraulic cylinders so the pressing process can be carried out at several points simultaneously. The results of the hydraulic system analysis diagram show hydraulic cylinder moves in 16,9 seconds with a pressure of 100 bar, so the pressing process is fast. Mathematical calculations produce data, a hydraulic gear pump with a displacement of 13 cc/rev, electric motor power of 3,7 kW, hydraulic cylinder diameter of 63 mm, cylinder rod of 35 mm, rod of 400 mm, and a hydraulic tank capacity of 12 liters.

Abstract

As one of the heavy equipment, an excavator is used to facilitate construction work and streamline time and energy. Hydraulic excavators are widely used in construction, mining, quarrying, and forestry applications. A hydraulic excavator is a type of heavy equipment that has several functions such as digging, loading, lifting, scraping, grading, braking, etc. One of the products which is developed by the Mechanical Engineering Department of Vocational School (SV-UGM) is the Mini Excavator. Mini Excavator has a function as excavators in general. A smaller size makes it easier to operate and apply in the field are more compact and do not require a large area. This equipment is expected to be the right teaching aid in supporting the learning process of students of the Heavy Equipment Management and Maintenance Engineering Study Program in the Mechanical Engineering Department. For the learning process to be optimal, the equipment used should be optimal. Therefore, in this research, the design and construction of the Traction Drive System for Backhoe Type Hydraulic Excavators will be carried out and some testing will also be conducted to know the performance of the mini excavator

Abstract

Panti Asuhan dan Pondok Lansia "Al Maa'uun" merupakan lembaga sosial yang berperan untuk memberikan pelayanan kesejahteraan sosial bagi masyarakat. Panti Asuhan Yatim dan Pondok Lansia Al Maa’uun telah berdiri sejak tahun 2019 bertempat di dusun Bakalan, Sapuran, Wonosobo, Jawa Tengah. Kegiatan yang telah dilakukan adalah bercocok tanam berbagai sayuran dan pengolahan carica. Kegiatan bercocok taman yang dilakukan tidak selalu menghasilkan panen yang baik. Permasalah diantaranya adalah hama penyakit pada tanaman yang penanggulangannya sangat sulit diatasi. Program pengabdian pada masyarakat ini difokuskan pada usaha untuk meminimalkan serangan hama dan meningkatkan produksi tanaman adalah dengan penggunaan green house untuk tanaman buah melon, khususnya pada pembuatan sistem perpipaan menggunakan sistem PJC. Pemasangan selang drip dilakukan sebelum penanaman dengan tujuan untuk mengalirkan nutrisi dari fertikid nutrisi melalui pipa utama untuk sampai ke tanaman. Selang drip dihubungkan dengan selang penetes (drib tube) yang dipasang di sepanjang selang cabang.
