Abstract

Abstrak: Beban ganda pekerja perempuan wilayah pesisir bukan hanya bersifat fisik, melainkan juga psikologis dan reproduktif. Minimnya akses terhadap informasi kesehatan, rendahnya literasi reproduksi, serta absennya ruang aman untuk berbagi pengalaman semakin memperkuat ketidaksiapan mereka dalam mengelola kesehatannya secara mandiri. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran dan pemahaman perempuan pekerja sektor informal di wilayah pesisir perbukitan terkait pentingnya menjaga kesehatan mental dan reproduksi sebagai bagian dari keselamatan kerja. Metode yang digunakan adalah edukasi partisipatif dengan sesi diskusi reflektif. Kegiatan dilaksanakan pada 23 Juli 2025 dengan melibatkan 40 peserta perempuan pekerja sektor informal. Evaluasi dilakukan secara kualitatif menggunakan pertanyaan terbuka sebelum dan sesudah kegiatan. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman dari 12 orang (30%) peserta yang sadar akan pentingnya pengelolaan stres dan pemeliharaan kesehatan reproduksi sebelum intervensi menjadi 30 orang (75%) setelah kegiatan. Peningkatan kesadaran ini juga diperkuat dengan kutipan langsung dari peserta. Kegiatan ini memberikan dampak pemberdayaan bagi perempuan sektor informal dan dapat direplikasi di wilayah serupa.Abstract: Women workers in coastal areas face a double burden that encompasses not only physical demands but also psychological and reproductive challenges. Limited access to health information, low reproductive literacy, and the absence of safe spaces for sharing experiences further reduce their capacity to manage health independently. This community engagement program aimed to enhance awareness and understanding among informal sector women workers in coastal hill regions regarding the importance of mental and reproductive health as integral components of occupational safety. A participatory educational approach was implemented through reflective discussion sessions. The activity, conducted on July 23, 2025, involved 40 women workers from the informal sector. Evaluation was undertaken qualitatively using open-ended questions before and after the intervention. Findings demonstrated an increase in understanding, with 12 participants (30%) initially aware of the importance of stress management and reproductive health rising to 30 participants (75%) post-intervention. This improvement was substantiated by direct participant reflections. The program contributed to the empowerment of informal sector women and holds potential for replication in similar contexts.

Abstract

Background: Balancing dual roles as a professional and a student is a significant challenge, especially for women in the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) field. Resilience is crucial for managing these responsibilities while ensuring workplace safety.Objective: This study examines the lived experiences of women pursuing postgraduate education while working full-time in OHS, focusing on factors contributing to resilience.Method: A qualitative phenomenological approach was used to explore participants' experiences. Two postgraduate students from Universitas Gadjah Mada, aged 18–45 years and actively employed in OHS, were recruited through purposive sampling. Semi-structured interviews were conducted via Zoom, addressing challenges, coping strategies, and institutional support. Data were analyzed using Braun and Clarke’s thematic analysis, with validation techniques including member checking and triangulation.Results: Four themes emerged: social support, adaptive coping strategies, self-efficacy, and institutional flexibility. Emotional support from family, practical assistance from colleagues, effective time management, self-reflection, and accommodating workplace policies were key enablers of resilience. These factors collectively supported participants in balancing dual roles while maintaining workplace safety.Conclusion: This study highlights the importance of targeted support systems to enhance resilience among working students in demanding fields like OHS. Insights from this research provide a framework for institutions and policymakers to address challenges and promote safer, healthier workplaces.
