Abstract

Speaking requires someone to be linguistically competent in terms of well articulating the sound, having sufficient vocabulary, and mastering structural and or grammatical grammar. Speaking is complex because speakers are involved in a rapid and dynamic process incurring a high element of doing various things at the same time. Games are a structured form of play, usually undertaken for enjoyment and sometimes used as an educational tool. Games are distinct from work, which is usually carried out for remuneration, and from art, which is more often an expression of aesthetic or ideological elements. In Talking Ball Game, students can value ability speaking like pronunciation, vocabulary, fluency, grammar, and able to make students fun in the games. It is very important for students. In games, students have the opportunity to use the language after learning new vocabulary. And Talking Ball Game is also able to improve the situation in class. Abstract

Kontribusi Sosial di Madarasah Ibtidaiyah Darul ‘Ulum dengan tema: “Memberikan Edukasi akan Pentingnya Melanjutkan Pendidikan pada Siswa/i Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Darul Ulum di Desa Sidomukti Kecamatan Mayang Kabupaten Jember”. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan oleh 20 mahasiswa pertukaran mahasiswa 2 dan 1 orang dosen pembimbing lapangan. Kegiatan ini berfokus kepada siswa siswi Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Darul ‘Ulum, Ledok, Desa Sidomukti, Kec. Mayang, Kab. Jember, Jawa Timur. Mahasiswa berkontribusi dibidang pendidikan yaitu dengan memberikan edukasi terkait pentingnya melanjutkan pendidikan dalam bentuk pengembangan potensi minat dan bakat peserta didik melalui kegiatan mewarnai, menari, dan bernyanyi. Kemudian memberikan alat-alat tulis sebagai hadiah. Metode pelaksanaan Pengabdian Masyarakat yang dilaksanakan pada tanggal 01 Desember 2022 - 03 Desember 2022 adalah sebagai berikut: survey lokasi : kegiatan ini dilakukan oleh mahasiswa PMM2 yang berkomunikasi secara langsung kepada kepala sekolah Madarasah Ibtidaiyah Darul ‘Ulum. Kegiatan ini dilakukan untuk mendiskusikan dan survey lokasi apakah membutuhkan kontribusi sosial di sekolah tersebut. Diskusi kegiatan dan kontribusi yang akan dilaksanakan selama satu hari.

Abstract

Abstrak Kosakata adalah dasar untuk belajar bahasa asing. Tanpa kosa kata, siswa tidak akan mampu mengungkapkan dan menyampaikan pendapatnya, serta tidak akan mampu memahami orang lain. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan penguasaan kosa kata siswa dengan menggunakan aktivitas icebreaker. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas I SMP HKBP Sidorame yang berjumlah 32 siswa. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam dua siklus. Setiap siklus terdiri dari perencanaan, tindakan, observasi dan refleksi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan data kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Data kuantitatif diambil dari hasil skor kosakata pada pre-test, post-test I dan post-test II, sedangkan data kualitatif diambil dari angket dan hasil observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada peningkatan pada penguasaan kosa kata siswa. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari nilai rata-rata pre-test siswa yaitu 40,78 dan nilai rata-rata pada post-test I adalah 64,84. Pada post-test II, skor rata-rata meningkat menjadi 82,34. Selain itu terdapat 2 siswa atau 6,25% dari 32 siswa dinyatakan lulus Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM) pada pretes, sedangkan pada postes I terdapat 12 siswa atau 37,5% dari 32 siswa dinyatakan lulus KKM. dan 25 siswa atau 78,12% dari 32 siswa dinyatakan lulus KKM. Selanjutnya, hasil observasi dan angket menunjukkan bahwa siswa memberikan respon positif terhadap penggunaan ice breaker dalam pembelajaran. Ice breaker mampu meningkatkan penguasaan kosa kata siswa. Kata Kunci: Aktivitas Pemecah Kebekuan, Meningkatkan, Penguasaan Kosa Kata Abstract Vocabulary is the basis for learning a foreign language. Without vocabulary, students will not be able to express and convey their opinions, and will not be able to understand other people. This research aimed to find out the improvement of students’ vocabulary mastery by using icebreaker activities. This research was conducted by using Classroom Action Research (CAR). The sample in this research were the first graders of SMP HKBP Sidorame which consist of 32 students. This research conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, action, observation and reflection. The data was collected by quantitative and qualitative data. The quantitative data was taken from the results of vocabulary scores in pre-test, post-test I and post-test II, while qualitative data was taken from questionnaire and observation results. The results showed that there was an improvement on the students’ vocabulary mastery. It can be seen from the mean score of the students’ pre-test which was 40,78 and the mean score in post-test I was 64,84. In post-test II, the mean score increased to 82,34. In addition, there were 2 students or 6,25% from 32 students passed the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM) in the pre-test, while in post-test I there were 12 students or 37,5% from 32 students passed the KKM and 25 students or 78,12% from 32 students passed the KKM. Furthermore, the results of observation and questionnaire showed that students gave positive responses to the use of ice breaker in learning. Abstract

  Tesis ini berfokus untuk mengetahui bagaimana blended learning di SMA HKBP Sidorame mempengaruhi kemampuan berbicara siswa. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan desain penelitian kuantitatif eksperimental. Penulis tertarik dengan variasi hasil tes bicara antara kelas kontrol tanpa blended learning dan kelas eksperimen desain penelitian kuantitatif. Sementara kelompok kontrol tidak menerima instruksi pembelajaran campuran, kelompok eksperimen menerimanya. Penilaian berbicara berfungsi sebagai alat pengumpulan data. Penulis menggunakan sampel sebanyak 10 siswa kelas XI IPA dan IPS SMA HKBP Sidorame, dimana kelas eksperimen terdiri dari 5 siswa IPA sing blended learning dan kelas kontrol terdiri dari 5 siswa IPS. Sebuah tes diberikan untuk mengumpulkan data. Untuk kedua kelas, tes terdiri dari pre-test dan post-test. Rata-rata pretest untuk blended learning adalah 33,6, sedangkan rata-rata untuk pembelajaran tatap muka adalah 46,8. Posttest pembelajaran dan posttest blended learning keduanya memiliki skor rata-rata 80,4. Uji-t digunakan untuk menganalisis data. Hasil perhitungan menunjukkan bahwa t-observed (16,261) lebih tinggi dari t-tabel (2,678) pada taraf signifikansi (a) 0,01 dengan derajat kebebasan (df) 9. Artinya ada pengaruh yang signifikan Blended Learning metode keterampilan berbicara siswa. Jadi, hipotesis nol (H0) ditolak dan hipotesis alternatif (HI) diterima.   Abstract This thesis focuses on determining how blended learning at SMA HKBP Sidorame affects students' speaking abilities. This research was conducted in a experimental quantitative research design. The author is interested in the variations in speech test outcomes between the control class without blended learning and the experimental quantitative research design class. While the control group did not receive any blended learning instruction, the experimental group did. Speaking assessments serve as the data gathering tool. The author used a sample of 10 students from class XI IPA and IPS SMA HKBP Sidorame, where the experimental class consisted of 5 students IPA sing blended learning and the control class consisted of 5 students IPS. A test is administered to gather data. For both classes, the test consists of a pre- and post-test. The pre-test average for blended learning is 33.6, whereas the average for face-to-face learning is 46.8. The post-test in learning and the post-test in blended learning both have an average score of 80.4. A test-t was used to analyze the data. The calculation results show that t-observed (16.261) is higher than t-table (2.678) at a significance level of (a) 0.01 with degrees of freedom (df) 9. This means that there is a significant effect of the Blended Learning method on students' speaking skills. So, the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (HI) is accepted.

Abstract

Although English is now being learned in every stage of education, but students always get problem to learn it. This research study explores the use of simple translation for English language improvement among 3rd-grade students at the elementary school level. Adopting a qualitative approach with a survey method, the study aims to investigate students' perception of simple translation and describe its implementation in the classroom. The findings reveal a positive perception of simple translation, with some students expressing a liking for its effectiveness in enhancing their English language skills. These findings highlight the potential benefits of incorporating simple translation into language learning activities. The study provides insights into the types of activities and the teacher's role in implementing simple translation. These findings contribute to the understanding of language learning strategies for young learners and inform the development of effective pedagogical approaches for English language improvement at the elementary school level.

Abstract

Bimbingan belajar merupakan salah satu kegiatan yang mampu meningkatkan kemampuan peserta didik, sekaligus melatih pola pikir siswa untuk bisa mendapatkan ilmu dan pengetahuan lebih banyak lagi. Namun tak semua siswa mampu memperoleh bimbingan belajar ada juga yang tidak dapat menerima bimbingan belajar karna dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor. Untuk mengatasi masalah itu kami dari tim PKM SD SWASTA TRI SAKTI Lubuk Pakam mengadakan bimbingan belajar gratis guna meningkatkan literasi dan numerasi peserta didik.Tujuan dari dari kegiatan PKM ini untuk meningkatkan kemampuan peserta didk dalam bidang literasi dan numerasi sekaligus mengasah kemampuan peserta didik untuk bisa lebih berkembang lagi. Dari kegiatan ini kami memperoleh hasil peningkatan literasi dan numerasi peserta didik di SD SWASTA TRI SAKTI Lubuk Pakam, Hasil rata rata yang kami peroleh sebesar 30,76% - 41,17% literasi dan numerasi peserta didik meningkat. Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the types of language styles as part of linguistics. Here the focus of the study is language style. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach and the research design is observational analysis. The data is in the form of novel text and the data source is the novel The Little Prince by Antoine and Library Research. This research is based on the theory of Gorys Keraft 2020. In this researcher the author uses the novel The Little Prince by Antoine. Researchers found several problems, namely 2 problems, the first is which language style is the most dominant, the second is what types of language styles are found in the novel. In this novel, the most dominant language style is contradiction with 21 data with a percentage of 30%. There are four types of language styles used in the novel The Little Prince by Antoine, namely the first is comparative, the second is affirmation, the third is satire, and the last is contradiction. The number of sentences is 70 data in the novel The Little Prince. In research findings there are percentages and frequencies in the essay, in the first type of language style comparative 16 frequency and 23%, second affirmation 15 frequency and 20%, third satire 18 frequency and 25%, fourth 21 frequency and 30%. the total number of data is 70 and the percentage is 100%

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of Peer Reviewing techniques in teaching writing abilities. This research aims to see whether Peer Reviewing Technique impacts students' ability to write narrative text. This investigation was carried out using experimental quantitative research. The research subject was SMP Negeri 1 Sei Rampah. The researcher applies the Peer Reviewing technique to the VIII-1 experimental class, which consists of 30 students; the control class uses the conventional VIII-2 method, which consists of 30 students. There are 60 students in this study, divided into two classes. The researcher chose two classrooms as samples to investigate the effectiveness of Peer-reviewing techniques in improving writing skills. Data was collected by giving tests to determine whether students understand the content. Both the experimental class and the control class were given two tests, namely: pre-test and post-test. The average pre-test value in the experimental class was 66.9, and the post-test was 81.3. The average value of the pre-test in the control class was 67.2, and the post-test was 76.8. It was found that the average value of the experimental class was greater than the control class. The t count > t table results in a significance level of p = 0.05 (4.42 > 2.048). The null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected, while the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. In other words, from this research, it is known that peer review techniques can influence the students' narrative text writing ability. It can be concluded that there is a significant effectiveness of using peer review techniques towards students' narrative text writing ability.

Abstract

This study was intended to determine the significant effect of Task-Based Group activities on students' collaborative behavior in reading class. The objectives of this study was to find out whether there is a significant effect of Task-Based Group activities on students’ collaborative behavior in reading class of Eighth Grade at SMP HKBP Padang Bulan Medan, used a quantitative experimental research design. The population of this study were eighth grade students of SMP HKBP Padang Bulan Medan, grades VIIIA and VIIIB. The number of students is 40 students as a sample for each class consisting of 20 students. Students were divided into two groups, namely the experimental group and the control group. The experimental group was given treatment (Task-Based Group Activities), while the control group was taught conventional methods. The instrument used to collect data is a multiple choice test. Data were analyzed using the t-test formula. The results of the analysis show that to be served is higher than t-table (5.81 > 1.27) at a significance level of 0.05 with degrees of freedom (df) 38. This means that the use of Task-Based Group Activities in the teaching and learning process has succeeded in influencing student learning scores, especially in class reading descriptive text.

Abstract

The study examines how the Listen-Read-Discuss method affects students' success in reading comprehension. An experimental quantitative design was employed in this investigation. Pupils in grade X at SMA HKBP Sidorame Medan, totaling 40, made up the study's population. Each class averaged 20 pupils. The experimental group and the control group were each made up of two students. While the control group received traditional instruction, the experimental group received instruction using the Listen-Read-Discuss strategy. A multiple-choice test that was split into a pre-test and a post-test was the instrument utilized to gather the data. The t-test formula was used to assess the data. The analysis's findings indicated that the Listen-Read-Discuss strategy has a significant impact on students' reading comprehension achievement when tobserved is higher than ttable (4,65 > 2.0) at the level of significance of 0,05 and the degree of freedom (df) of 38.
