Abstract

A construction company in Karangpilang received a Pressure Vessel project. This project is delayed from the predetermined date so that a fine of 0.2% is imposed every day. So it is necessary to analyze project scheduling in order to get the maximum time and cost in this project. The methods used in this research are Time Cost Trade Off (TCTO), Precedence Diagram Method (PDM) and crashing. Acceleration is carried out on critical trajectories namely Marking/Catting, Rolling, Fit-Up, Welding, NDT, Primary Blasting and Top Coat. This study uses alternatives to increase over time and additional manpower. In this study, the maximum time and cost results were obtained with an alternative of 25% additional manpower. The resulting accelerated duration is 51 days faster than the actual duration, with costs incurred of Rp. 199,616,473, -, resulting in a decrease of 70% from the actual duration cost of Rp. 286,961,745, -. S curve analysis shows that the accelerated duration can be completed faster than the actual duration because the project can be completed on December 27, 2021. Where the accelerated duration is closer to the planned duration, namely November 26, 2021.

Abstract

In this study, the design of a Single Girder Overhead Craneincludes Girders using Honeycomb beams, end Carriages, runway rails using Honeycombbeams and supporting columns. The next design will be analyzed the strength of the construction made to calculate the maximum stress, deflection, and buckling. The analysis process will use the FEM (fenite element methods) approach using FUSION 360 software. Comparing the simulation results is carried out on the stress yield values, and deflection. From the results of the design and analysis, the dimensions of the Main Girder, End Carriage, Runway Beamand column construction have met the requirements.

Abstract

UT Surabaya has a warehouse for storing spare parts needed either during heavy equipment maintenance work or customer demand in purchasing spare parts. This warehouse still does not maximize the existing capacity, seen from the many spare parts that are not arranged. This is due to the lack of shelf storage capacity due to the demand for many spare parts. In addition, the placement of spare parts that are not organized according to their group creates one of the problems, namely oil leaks that hit other spare parts. Seeing these problems, it is necessary to design a warehouse rack supported using the Ulrich Method by making three design concepts for selecting the most appropriate concept and in accordance with warehouse needs. Making design and structural strength analysis using Fusion 360 Software based on Finite Element Methods. The selected concept is design concept 2 with structural strength analysis of the rack frame obtained the results of allowable deformation of 1.37 mm for manual calculation and software displacement analysis obtained the maximum value that occurs 0.3670 mm with ASTM A36 material deformation allowance of 23.87 mm. The maximum stress value of 45.82 MPa in software analysis and 45.64 Mpa in manual calculations with ASTM A36 material allowable stress limit of 166.667 MPa. Then the maximum safety factor value of 5 is obtained, which means the machine frame is safe to use. total

Abstract

Pandemi Covid-19 yang ditetapkan oleh WHO pada tanggal 9 maret 2020 merupakan dorongan terkuat program pengabdian masyarakat ini dilakukan. Sektor ekonomi, sosial, dan pendidikan pun terdampak akibat pandemi Covid-19, khususnya di Indonesia. Sebelum vaksin atau terapi pengobatan ditemukan untuk melawan Covid-19, masyarakan hanya bisa melakukan pencegahan pemutusan rantai penyebaran virus dengan memahami dan melaksanakan protokol kesehatan yang dianjurkan pemerintah. Anjuran pemerintah untuk menerapkan pola hidup bersih dan tetap dirumah berdampak pada sebagian kelompok masyarakat untuk membeli bahan pokok dan alat kesehatan khususnya masker dan hand sanitizer dengan berlebihan. Pembelian dalam jumlah masif menyebabkan ketersediaan barang tersebut menjadi sedikit sehingga mengakibatkan harga jual menjadi mahal. Sesuai dengan permasalahan tersebut, “Tim Pengabdian Masyarakat PPNS” melakukan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat berupa Pelatihan Pembuatan Hand Sanitizer di lingkungan SMK Negeri 4 Surabaya dalam menyikapi Pandemi Covid-19 untuk sekolah berkelanjutan. Metode dalam penelitian ini dengan cara observasi dan sosialisasi tetang wabah pandemi Covid-19 terhadap Kepala Sekolah, Guru serta Karyawan SMK Negeri 4 Surabaya, yang kemudian dilanjutkan dengan kegiatan pelatihan secara offline dan daring. Kegiatan ini diakhiri dengan evaluasi kegiatan serta memberikan rekomendasi sarana sekolah untuk memutus penyebaran rantai Covid-19.  Pelatian ini berdampak positif terhadap lingkungan SMK Negeri 4 Surabaya, perubahan ini terlihat dari protokol kesehatan yang berlaku di sekolah, serta dari segi ekonomi dapat menekan alokasi dana untuk pembelian produk hand sanitizer.

Abstract

Berbagai kerajinan tangan dapat dikembangkan di masyarakat, salah satunya kerajinan tangan berbahan komposit yaitu menggunakan resin sebagai bahan utamanya. Metode pengecoran atau manufaktur bahan komposit ini memiliki variasi sesuai dengan resin yang digunakan atau peruntukkan komposit itu sendiri. Metode manufaktur ini dapat diaplikasikan oleh masyarakat dengan mudah, sehingga komposit yang dihasilkan dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai kerajinan tangan yang memiliki nilai tambah. Pelatihan metode manufaktur material komposit sebagai kerajinan tangan ini diberikan kepada Komunitas Riverside, Desa Suko, Kecamatan Sukodono, Kabupaten Sidoarjo. Pada prinsipnya pelatihan ini mengaplikasikan metode pengecoran sebagai dasar teknis aplikasi kerajinan tangan berbahan komposit. Pelatihan dilakukan dengan memberikan pengetahuan dasar tentang bahan resin dalam bentuk ceramah atau presentasi, kemudian dilakukan praktek metode manufaktur material komposit tersebut sehingga menghasilkan kerajinan tangan yang bernilai tinggi. Hasil kerajinan tangan berbahan komposit yang dihasilkan antara lain adalah gantungan kunci, bros, dan magnet hiasan kulkas.

Abstract

A ship tank’s ventilation pipes protector, called PS60, is produced by an investment casting process using CF8M material. Shorter time production for PS60 products, occurred due to the rise of PS60 demand, resulting non class casting product quality. Reported that 15% of PS60 defective products were shown from each production group. Porosity defects are the most common defects found. Recalculating riser’s, runners’s, and ingates’s dimensions, then remodeling designs a mold gating system done in order to reduce the percentage of defective products and increase production capacity. Remodeling gating system and casting simulation done by ProCast 2018 software using New Advanced Porocity Module (NAPM). The casting simulation output was porosity defects location and percentage, which were further analyzed. The product produced using a mold Gating system with a new layout, had 314.73 cm3 of empty part in the mold cavity which was identified as a porosity defect which was 4.58% of the total volume of the cast product. The total value of  the porosity after remodeling decreases by 2.39% from the existing product. 93.3% of the cavity inside the product is categorized as macroscopic porosity defects that are centralized in the riser and pouring basin areas, where in the casting product finishing process, these areas will be removed. Modification of the Gating System in PS60 mold escalates twice of PS60 capacity production than the origin.

Abstract

Calcium silicate boards (CSB) are being explored in the maritime industry due to the mechanical strength and its resintance to humidity. The common CSB comprises fiber, silica sand, and portland cement. Clamshell is one of marine waste, who has a high calcium carbonate (CaCO3) content. Coconut fiber, a natural fiber known for its high strength and durability, presents sustainable solutions for enhancing the material properties of CSB. This study explores the forming mechanism and mechanical properties of the CSB in the usage and varied volume fraction addition of coconut fiber with the varied portion replacement silica sand using clamshell powder. The bending test was performed, and the experimental results were analyzed using ANOVA, to understand the effect of the mixture composition on the bending strength of the CSB. The addition of volume fraction coconut fiber significantly improve the bending strength of the boards, while the replacement of silica sand using clamshell powder gives various result. The maximum bending strength was 13.87 ± 0.64 Mpa by 0% clamshell powder replacement in  9% coconut fiber, and significantly drop at 8.26 ± 2.20 MPa by 50% clamshell powder with 50% silica sand. In fully portion replacement of silica sand, in which the addition of 100% clamshell powder, with 9% coconut fiber, the bending strength measured at 10.29 ± 1.31 MPa. The highest results exceeding the minimum requirement in ISO-8336 category A and B (saturated condition) , class 3 (>13 MPa) standards for interior wall installations. This study providing a more robust and eco-friendly materials alternatives that supports non or maritime industry needs in while resolve the environmental issue.

Abstract

Concrete technology has significantly advanced and remains an interesting research topic. The demand for cement usage rises significantly due to concrete usage in various sectors. Cement production leads to air pollution issues and causes a greenhouse effect, even in the modern filtration era. Fly ash is an industrial waste that has been identified as a viable substitute for cement due to its pozzolanic properties. Silica Sand is sandblasting waste, where added value is needed. This study investigates the effectiveness of fly ash substitution in the cement portion of cementitious composite materials as an effort to minimize cement usage. Using sandblasting waste is an effort to implement 3R activity (reduce, reuse, recycle) for maritime waste.  Compressive and tensile tests were evaluated in the variation of fly ash substitution for cementitious composite reinforced by coco fiber and wiremesh model. The results show that a 40% fly ash substitution gives the highest compressive strength of 32.98 MPa and the tensile strength of 5.90 N/mm². The best model composition provides the increments of compressive and tensile strength compared to the control specimen at 43.60% and 12.60%, respectively. ANOVA tests confirmed the significance of the enhancing effect as the presence of fly ash, both for compressive and tensile strength. Additionally, static analysis simulations using Fusion360 software were performed and indicated that the cementitious composite lawn table prototype’s design is safe and has good formability, as a safety factor performed 2.26, exceeding the required value of 2.00. This result explicates that fly ash and waste materials can be effectively used in cementitious composites for practical applications.

Abstract

Effective machinery and supporting systems significantly influence production capacity, precision, and workflow continuity. In several companies, the lifting of hardened furan sand is still performed using forklifts, leading to delays and reduced efficiency, particularly during night shifts. This condition highlights the need for a more reliable material handling system. This study aims to design a conveyor system capable of transporting hardened sand to the sand crusher machine as an alternative to forklift-based handling. The conveyor is designed to match the height and spatial constraints of the existing sand crusher and can be operated without forklift assistance. The design process includes problem identification, product requirement definition, concept development, and concept evaluation. The results indicate that the second design concept provides the best performance, with a maximum stress of 60.729 MPa, supported by six structural frames, and a total manufacturing cost of Rp 37,923,000. The proposed conveyor system offers a more efficient and practical solution for material handling in sand-processing operations.   Keywords: Manufacturing industry, production efficiency, conveyor system, sand crusher
