Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the structure and composition of mangrove forests in Hatusua State, Kairatu District, West Seram Regency. And vegetation analysis was carried out by collecting data on the type, number, diameter and height of trees. In this research, the path method was used by carrying out a 100% inventory. The measuring plot area for the vegetation growth level of Seedlings, Saplings and Trees is 20 m x 20 m, a total of 46 plots for a total area of 1.84 ha. The research results show that the mangrove forests in Hatusua State can be divided into two from inundation, namely the middle zone and the distal zone, where in this mangrove forest there is no proximal zone because there are no mangroves that face the sea. The stratification of Hatusua State's mangrove forests is simpler than that of mainland natural forests. Mangrove trees in Hatusua Country can reach a tree height of 15 – 25 meters, which are dominated by Rhizophora apiculata, Heritiera littoralis, Parmentiera cereifera, and Intsia bijuga. The Hatusua State mangrove forest diversity index value of 1.37 seedlings, 2.30 saplings and 1.36 trees is categorized as medium because the value 1 <H' < 3.

Abstract

Agarwood (Aquilaria malaccensis) is a non-timber forest product commodity that has a high selling value. Indonesia is the largest agarwood producer in the world. By the end of 1990, Indonesia could produce more than 600 tons of agarwood annually.  The research was carried out in the nursery of the Forestry Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Patimura University. This research was carried out from February to May 2024 to determine the effect of shade on the growth of gaharu seedlings (Aquilaria malaccensis). The percentage of shade supports the growth of (Aquilaria malaccensis). The experimental design used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments, namely no shade, 50% shade, 65% shade, and 75% shade. The research results show that gaharu seeds are a semi-tolerant type, or a type of gaharu tree that can grow in open and shaded areas.

Abstract

The problem of waste at tourist attractions has from the past until now is still a hot topic in the world of tourism. Starting from pollution of marine ecosystems, air pollution, to direct impacts on human health. To create tourism that can guarantee the preservation of nature and culture, a sustainable tourism concept is needed. The aim of this activity is to clean the coastal area of Isau Island (Seven Islands) from existing rubbish, provide an example for tourists (visitors), especially local and domestic tourists, to keep the area clean and beautiful and prevent plastic waste from entering the sea and can disrupt marine ecosystems. The implementation method used is the participant method. Where participants are subjects involved in activities as participants in providing responses to activities carried out and supporting the achievement of goals and are responsible for their involvement. And the types of waste found on the coast of Isau Island Beach (Nusa Itu Resort) Pulau Tujuh Pasanea, Central Maluku Regency, there are seven types of waste materials including plastic, metal or aluminum, cloth, glass and ceramics, metal, paper and cardboard, rubber, other materials. . Plastic is a type of waste material with the highest density value. The high density of plastic waste with less efficient waste management patterns makes Isau Island Beach easy or vulnerable to environmental pollution.

Abstract

Dusung is traditional land management in Maluku by planting various plant species in the same area. Factors such as intensive land management, selection and combination of plant species, vegetation structure, topography, soil, and others influence the economic and ecological productivity of dusung. Ecological productivity affects the biomass content, which indicates the potential for carbon absorption in the land. The method used in this research is direct measurements in the field of several carbon pools specifically for aboveground biomass. Data collection was guided by Indonesian National Standards (SNI) 7724-2019 concerning field measurements for estimating forest carbon stocks. The research result showed that the diversity of vegetation species in Dusung Rutong Village at all growth levels in the moderate category tends to be low, dominated by fruit plants such as Durian (Durio zibethinus). Tree-level species diversity is moderate because the community controls the species that grow on Dusung land. The total aboveground carbon stocks in Dusung Rutong Village are 106.424 tonnes/ha, consisting of trees 100.673 tonnes/ha, undergrowth 1.708 tonnes/ha, litter 1.124 tonnes/ha, necromass 0.042 tonnes/ha and bamboo (Schizostachyum brachycladum) 2.877 tonnes/ha while the potential for equivalent carbon dioxide (CO2) absorption of 390.221 tonnes/ha.
