Abstract

Lamawolo village in Ile Ape Timur sub-district, in Lembata district, was one of the villages that was affected by the landslide that occurred on April 5, 2021. Residents of the entire village, totaling 303 people and generally working as field farmers, were evacuated to SMPN 1 Nubatukan, Lewoleba city. While in the refugee camps, they do not carry out life activities or professions as they do in their hometowns. This situation causes boredom, psychological pressure and has the potential to cause mental disorders. Responding to these conditions, this activity was carried out with the aim of being one of the trauma healing methods. The method used was process skills. The types of training carried out were processing coconuts into VCO, various types of handicrafts, processing corn into chips, and making cassava chips. The activity was carried out for 3 days, from 26 to 29 April 2021. The participants involved in the activity were 26 people consisting of teenagers and adults. The results of the activities obtained are the production of VCO oil, corn chips and handicrafts from coconut shells. The participants were actively involved and enthusiastic about participating in the activities. Participants stated that this activity has helped overcome boredom, forget the trauma of the disaster and have the enthusiasm to start a new life after the disaster.

Abstract

A training activity on making virgin coconut oil (VCO) has been carried out for the GMIT Petra Binilaka women's group, Oeltua village, Taebenu sub-district, Kupang district. This service aims to improve the welfare of the people in Petra Binilaka and can improve the ability and skills of the GMIT women's group to process coconuts into virgin coconut oil (VCO). VCO making training is carried out using the fishing method. This service activity was carried out at the Petra Binilaka Congregation for the women of the GMIT women's group, most of whom were housewives. The target of community service to be achieved is to invite the GMIT Petra Binilaka Women's group who lives in V Binilaka hamlet, Oeltua Village, Taebenu District, Kupang Regency to process coconuts into virgin coconut oil (VCO). The result of the training is that the Petra Binilaka GMIT Women's Group has the ability to process coconuts into virgin coconut oil (VCO) and has an understanding of the benefits of VCO oil from a health and economic perspective and can improve the quality of GMIT women's service programs in the congregation. Abstract

Abstract: The process of extracting secondary metabolite compounds from plants through extraction. One of factor that influences the success of extraction is the type of solvent used. This study aims to determine the effect of solvent type on the contents of secondary metabolite compounds and the antioxidant activity of Lino (G. koordersiana Burret) bark extract. This research began with taking lino bark samples, extraction, phytochemical screening, content analysis and antioxidant activity tests. The research results showed that the yields for ethanol, methanol, ethyl acetate and n-hexane extracts were 42.15%, 41.65%, 0.98% and 0.62%, respectively. The phytochemical test results of ethanol and methanol extracts contain alkaloids, flavonoids, phenolics, triterpenoids, saponins and tannins. Meanwhile, ethyl acetate extract contains phenolics, triterpenoids and tannins and n-hexane extract contains triterpenoids. The results of analysis of secondary metabolite on the contents for ethanol, methanol, ethyl acetate and n-hexane extracts showed different results. Antioxidant activity test results for each ethanol, methanol, ethyl acetate and n-hexane extract with different IC50 values. Antioxidant activity of ethanol, methanol and ethyl acetate extracts has antioxidant activity in the very strong category. Meanwhile, n-hexane extract has antioxidant activity in the inactive category. The results showed that the type of solvent affected the levels and antioxidant activity of secondary metabolite compounds from Lino (G. koordersiana Burret) extract.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the practicality of Student Worksheets (LKM) using Moloku Kie Raha's local potential project-based learning in the Inorganic Chemistry II course. The research population was 26 students in the fourth semester of the 2022-2023 academic year in the Chemistry Education study program, Mathematics and Natural Sciences Education department, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Khairun University. All sample members are used as the population (saturated sample or total sample). Data was obtained through a student response questionnaire during class learning with indicators of the novelty of the material presented, the attractiveness of the LKM display, motivation to learn, the ability to learn more independently, and the ability to learn cooperatively. Data analysis was carried out using a rating scale, transformation of qualitative data into quantitative, and percentages. The research results show that the percentage of practicality of LKM using Moloku Kie Raha local potential project-based learning is 87.2% and is categorized as very practical. The conclusion of this research is that the LKM based on the Moloku Kie Raha local potential project is very practical and suitable for use in Inorganic Chemistry II lectures.

Abstract

Madu Timor merupakan salah satu komoditi hasil hutan di pulau Timor yang dikenal oleh masyarakat di luar pulau Timor sebagai salah satu jenis obat herbal. Belum banyak informasi ilmiah mengenai  penggunaan madu dan sarang lebah madu oleh masyarakat Timor. Penelitian ini untuk mengetahui penggunaan madu lebah dan sarang lebah madu oleh masyarakat pulau Timor, dalam kaitannya dengan penanganan kesehatahn secara tradisional. Metode penelitian yakni survei di lima kabupaten dalam wilayah Pulau Timor, dengan menggunakan angket sebagai instrumen penggalangan pendapat responden. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa madu lebah yang dipanen oleh masyarakat untuk dijual dan juga digunakan sebagai obat yaitu dari lebah jenis Trigona sp, Apis cerana dan Apis dorsata. Yang merupakan lebah liar. Jenis penyakit yang diobati menggunakan madu lebah yaitu: sariawan, panas dalam, mag, sakit lambung, batuk dan flu, dan penyakit dalam. Cara penggunaan yakni diminum. Sarang lebah digunakan oleh masyarakat di Timor Tengah Utara sebagai obat batuk, pilek dan penyakit dalam. Cara penggunaannya adalah sarang lebah direbus dan dikonsumsi, dapat dokonsmsi langsung atau dimasak bersama dengan sayur.

Abstract

High school students in Indonesia, in today's development, have a final assignment before completing their senior secondary education, namely conducting scientific research, writing up research results and presenting them. General conditions show that female students still have difficulty conducting research which includes research ideas or topics, steps for conducting research and writing research results. In response to this condition, research training was created for class The method used is competition. Female students are invited to conduct research, collect data and analyze data in their respective places of residence during the holiday period. As a result of the activities obtained, as many as 35 female students took part in the competition. It appears that the participants dug up information, conducted interviews with sources, namely parents in the villages, then wrote down the results of their studies and pictures of traditional medicinal ingredients.  From the results of the competition, a scientific seminar was held with the theme; Traditional Medicine of the NTT Community; Chemical Content and Activity. The top four competition participants were selected as presenters, and discussed by Natural Materials Chemistry experts in the scientific seminar forum. It was concluded that through research competitions and seminars, it had become a means to train female students to carry out scientific research in their living environment, related to traditional medicine and present their research work.

Abstract

Salah satu isu krusial yang dihadapi sektor pertanian saat ini adalah meminimalisasi dampak lingkungan tanpa memengaruhi hasil pertanian. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut adalah dengan penggunaan pupuk organik cair (POC). Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh waktu dan metode fermentasi terhadap kandungan unsur hara yaitu karbon, nitrogen, fosfor dan kalium (CNPK) dalam POC dari limbah air kelapa tua, limbah kulit buah-buahan yaitu pisang kepok, nanas dan semangka, serta molase. Metode fermentasi yang digunakan yaitu aerob dan anaerob, dengan waktu fermentasi selama 21 hari. POC yang diperoleh dari hasil fermentasi menggunakan kedua metode tersebut diamati parameter fisiknya berupa aroma dan warna, sedangkan untuk parameter kimianya akan diukur pH, kandungan C-organik, nitrogen, fosfor dan kalium. Hasil yang diperoleh dibandingkan dengan standar pupuk organik berdasarkan Indonesian Standards No. 261/KPTS/SR.310/M/4/2019. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan beberapa parameter yaitu aroma, warna, kadar C-organik dan kadar nitrogen telah memenuhi standar yang berlaku, sedangkan nilai pH, kadar fosfor dan kalium belum memenuhi standar yang berlaku. Rata-rata hasil yang diperoleh memperlihatkan metode fermentasi POC secara aerob memberikan hasil yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan metode fermentasi secara anaerob.

Abstract

Isolation and characterization of secondary metabolite compounds from the bark of the Niko plant (G. koordersiana Burret) aims to determine the type of secondary metabolite compounds and the characteristics of secondary metabolite compounds. The methods used are extraction, chromatography and spectrophotometry. A total of 500 g of Niko bark powder, macerated with methanol solvent, obtained a thick extract with a yield of 52.09%. The results of phytochemical tests showed that the methanol extract contained alkaloids, flavonoids, terpenoids and saponins. The results of fractionation by column chromatography using methanol eluent: ethyl acetate (1:3) obtained 20 fractions. The results of TLC for each fraction obtained 4 fractions with a single spot, namely fractions 11, 12, 15 and 16, where fractions 11 and 16 had Rf 0.3 and fractions 12 and 15 had Rf 0.7. Fraction A is fraction 11 and 16 with single spot concentrated and obtained extract of 2.09 grams (8.93%) and fraction B is fraction 12 and 15 obtained extract of 2.74 grams (11.53%). The results of characterization by UV-Vis spectrophotometry for fraction A obtained two absorption bands at wavelengths of 280 and 235 nm. Fraction B obtained two absorption bands at wavelengths of 280 and 245 nm. The results of the characterization using Infrared spectroscopy of methanol extract of Niko bark (G. koordersiana Burret) showed the presence of -OH groups at wave numbers 3383.14 cm-1 and aliphatic C-H groups (stretching) at wave numbers 2983.88 cm-1, carbonyl C=O groups at wave numbers 1741.72 cm-1, aliphatic C-H groups (bending) and alcohol C-O groups at wavelengths 1244.09, 1045.42 and 1033.85 cm-1. Based on the results of the UV-Vis and IR spectra, both isolates contain the same compounds.

Abstract

The G. koordersiana Burret plant, especially its bark, is used by the Sumba community to treat wounds, ulcers, and liver. This study aims to determine the effect of solvent types on the antibacterial and cytotoxic activity of G. koordersiana Burret extract. The research methods used were maceration method, antibacterial test, and cytotoxic test of G. koordersiana Burret bark extract. The results showed that the yield of ethanol, methanol, and n-hexane extracts were 42.15%; 41.65%; and 0.62%, respectively. Ethanol and methanol extracts had antibacterial activity against E. coli and S. aureus bacteria, while n-hexane extract did not show antibacterial activity against both bacteria. Cytotoxic tests showed that the LC50 values ​​of ethanol, methanol, and n-hexane extracts were 61.35 ppm; 758.58 ppm; and 2,494,181.19 ppm, respectively. Ethanol and methanol extracts had antibacterial activity and were toxic, while n-hexane extract did not show antibacterial activity and was not toxic. The antibacterial and cytotoxic activities of ethanol and methanol extracts showed the presence of secondary metabolite compounds of the alkaloid, phenolic, flavonoid, tannin, triterpenoid, and saponin groups, while n-hexane extract contained triterpenoid compounds that had no inhibitory power against bacteria or cytotoxic activity.

Abstract

Panas Bumi di desa Atakore kecamatan Atadei kabupaten Lembata, dikenal juga sebagai dapur alam Karun, karena warga setempat melakukan pengukusan makanan di dalam lubang-lubang yang dibuat di permukaan tanah panas bumi. Uap air panas yang selalu keluar di permukaan lubang panas bumi, tidak dimanfaatkan selama ini. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk melatih para pemuda desa Atakore memproduksi air tawar melalui kondensasi uap air dari lubang-lubang dapur alam. Air yang dihasilkan dapat digunakan untuk mencuci bahan makanan yang hendak dikukus di dapur alam tersebut. Metode kegiatan yakni keterampilan proses, Diterapkan teknologi kondensasi. Peralatan yang digunakan adalah plastik bening dan seng plat. Kedua media kondensasi dibuat cembung, dan puncak cembung diarahkan ke dalam lubang pengukusan untuk mengarahkan titik-titik air hasil kondensasi dapat mengalir ke wadah penampungan.  Hasil kegiatan yaitu kondensasi uap air berhasil dilakukan. Seng plat merupakan media yang lebih efektif dan efisien serta mudah penanganannya. Penggunaan  seng plat dapat menghasilkan air rata-rata 320 mL dalam waktu 60 menit.  Penggunaan  kertas plastik bening,  dalam waktu 60 menit diperoleh air rata-rata 250 mL.  Penanganan terhadap kertas plasti relatif sulit karena tekanan uap air yang panas selalu merubah posisi atau penampang kertas plastik bening. Disimpulkan bahwa produksi air tawar di dapur alam Panas Bumi desa Atakore kecamatan Atadei kabupaten Lembata dapat terjadi melalui kondensasi uap air di panas bumi dan dengan menggunakan seng plat sebagai media kondensasi uap air yang relatif lebih efektif.
