Abstract

The project-based learning model is one of the strategies used to increase student engagement and motivation, especially in supporting the development of character education. However, in its application, project learning faces challenges such as taking a long time, causing students to feel bored, and not all students are fully and evenly active in the learning process. This has an impact on the non-achievement of learning objectives in the development of character education. This study aims to identify the factors needed to improve the quality of project learning implementation for character education development. The strategy analysis used in the study uses external as well as internal factors analysis with SWOT and AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process). The method used in this study is a mixed method with an exploratory sequential design, which collects data qualitatively, namely through interviews and observations, which are then followed by quantitative analysis by distributing questionnaires to respondents. The results show that internal factors, namely innovative and digitalized school management, are the main strengths in implementing project learning for character education development. On the other hand, external factors show significant opportunities for driving schools to support this learning while considering external threats. The top priority strategy recommended in character education development is to utilize technology for innovative learning that increases student engagement. This strategy aims to provide space for students to make progress in cognitive, affective and psychomotor aspects. The main focus in project learning is to ensure students are actively engaged, so an innovative, technology-based approach is needed that allows students to explore, think critically and develop themselves.

Abstract

Abstract

This research was conducted by designing a Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) technology based on Fiber to the Home (FTTH) using the power link budget and the resulting attenuation parameters. This research was conducted due to the alleged lack of stability of the internet network. Research is carried out scientifically so that valid data is obtained with the aim of being able to find, manage, and prove certain knowledge. The results of the study obtained that the error value contained in each comparison of the total attenuation can be said to be stable because the error value is not more than 1%

Abstract

Clock skew is the deviation of the clock from the true time, which makes it an important role in time information. Clock skew is unavoidable and causes each clock to run at a different speed, so there is a very slight difference between them, but it can still be observed properly. The known properties of clock skew make it potential research for many experts, such as Paxson, Aoki, and Huang. To produce a more accurate clock skew measurement, this study uses the ant colony optimization method by adopting the behavior of an ant colony in searching for food by choosing the path with the shortest route, which will become the cluster offset as a material for measuring clock skew. Ant colony optimization method has the most potential to be adapted in clock skew measurement because the cluster offset is not affected by the upper and the bottom outliers to produce an accurate clock skew measurement.

Abstract

Human life with all its activities cannot be separated from the existence of waste but the quality of post-consumption waste is generally still low. To convert waste into a more stable form and does not pollute the environment, it is required a precise waste collection system. Waste collection system is an important part of waste management. This study is proposed a geographic information system (GIS) application based on google maps Application Programming Interface (API) to map waste collection point using Haversine formula method. The application is designed to develop a waste collection system from households to Temporary Disposal Sites (TDS), quickly and accurately. The application can be used by households and waste taxi bike drivers to communicate when the households need the taxi bike drivers to pick the waste up to the temporary collection points. A geographic information system application based on google maps API used to display the location of the taxi bike driver, TDS and the location of the waste collection (household). Haversine formula is used to get the nearest waste taxi bike driver to the location of the request for waste transportation. The result of this research is an application that can monitor and track waste collection. Using black box testing, the system has run according to the functions and scenarios designed. Based on the testing the system usability scale results, the application obtains a score of 70.125 which indicates that the application is classified as good and acceptable to users.

Abstract

E-learning in education faces challenges in improving students' engagement, specifically regarding character education effectiveness. Gamification is among the strategies that can be applied to increase student engagement in the project-based learning process. Therefore, this study aimed to develop a Gamification Framework for Project-Based E-learning in Character Education (GaPolCE) as an innovative solution to improve engagement and character education at the senior high school level. A quantitative study was carried out using a quasi-experimental method, where data collection was carried out through a pre-post test and log data analysis to measure the effectiveness of gamification in achieving character education and student engagement. The results showed that the implementation of GaPolCE improved aspects of character education measured using the N-Gain score, where moral knowledge was in the high category (0.70) while moral feeling (0.49) and moral action (0.51) were in the moderate category. Student engagement increased significantly by 67%, 8%, and 25% for behavioral, emotional, and cognitive engagement. However, the effectiveness of in-depth character formation requires long-term evaluation. In addition, the assessment of the application of gamification in project learning for character education is still done manually, thus increasing teachers' workload. In this regard, further research is needed with a longitudinal approach to ensure the sustainability of its influence. In addition, it is necessary to develop an automatic assessment system based on artificial intelligence to increase the efficiency of character education evaluation.

Abstract

Sign language (SL) is vital in fostering communication for the deaf and hard-of-hearing communities. Continuous Sign Language Translation (CSLT) is a work that translates sign language into spoken language. CSLT translation is done by changing continuous forms into isolated signs. Segmenting morpheme signs from phrase signs has several challenges, such as the availability of annotated datasets and the complexity of continuous gesture movements. The Indonesian Sign Language (SIBI) system follows Indonesian grammatical norms, including word formation, in contrast to other sign languages with rules derived from their spoken language. In SIBI, a word can consist of a root word and an affix word. Therefore, temporal action segmentation in SIBI is important to reconstruct the results of translating each sign into spoken Indonesian sentences. This research uses an optical flow approach to segment temporal actions in SIBI videos. Optical flow methods that calculate changes in intensity between adjacent frames can be used to determine the occurrence of sign movement or vice versa to determine the delay between sign movements. The absence of intensity differences between the two frames indicates the boundary between sign gestures. This study tested the use of dense optical flow on videos containing SIBI sentences taken from 3 signers. Evaluation is done on several parameters in the dense optical flow algorithm, such as threshold size, PyrScale, and WinSize, to obtain the best accuracy. This paper shows that the optical flow algorithm successfully performs segmentation, as measured by Perf and F1r. The experimental results showed that the highest Perf and F1r yields were 0.8298 and 0.8524, respectively.
