Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji produktivitas sapi Jawa yang digemukkan dengan pakan jerami padi dengan berbagai level konsentrat. Materi obyek penelitian yang digunakan adalah 12 ekor sapi Jabres jantan yang berumur sekitar 2 tahun, dengan bobot badan (BB) awal penelitian 270,6 ± 38,03 kg (CV=14,06%). Sapi Jabres tersebut diberi pakan jerami padi ad libitum dan konsentrat yang disusun dari dedak padi, bungkil kelapa, ampas bir, dan mineral. Penelitian dilakukan menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok (RAK) dengan 3 perlakuan dan 4 kelompok bobot badan sebagai ulangan. Perlakuan yang diberikan yaitu: T1= pemberian konsentrat 30% dari kebutuhan BK pakan, T2= pemberian konsentrat 50% dari kebutuhan BK pakan, dan T3 = pemberian konsentrat 70% dari kebutuhan BK pakan. Parameter yang diukur adalah konsumsi bahan kering (BK), protein kasar (PK) dan total digestible nutrients (TDN), kecernaan BK, pertambahan bobot badan harian (PBBH) dan konversi pakan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian berbagai level konsentrat tidak berpengaruh terhadap semua parameter yang diamati (P>0,05). Rata-rata konsumsi BK, PK dan TDN berturut-turut sebesar 5,69 kg, 0,78 kg, dan 3,95 kg/ekor/hari, dengan rata-rata kecernaan BK 52,94%. Adapun pertambahan bobot badan harian (PBBH) yang diperoleh 0,53 kg dan konversi pakan 12,80. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa sapi Jabres yang dipelihara secara intensif dengan pakan konsentrat sebanyak 30-70% dan jerami padi ad libitum mempunyai produktivitas yang tidak berbeda.Kata kunci: produktivitas, sapi Jabres, jerami padi, konsentratABSTRACT This research was conducted to evaluate the productivity of Jawa cattle which was fattened using rice straw with various levels of concentrate. Twelve heads of Jabres bulls, two years old, with the initial body weight of 270,6 ± 38,03 kg (CV=14,06%) were used in this experiment. Those Jabres bulls were fed rice straw ad libitum and different level of concentrate that consisted of rice bran, copra meal, beer waste product, and minerals. Completely Randomized Block Design with 3 treatments and 4 blocks of different body weights were used in this study. The treatments were T1= 30% concentrate of the total DM requirements, T2= 50% concentrate of the total DM requirements, T3 = 70% concentrate of the total DM requirements. The collected data were dry matter intake (DMI), protein and total digestible nutrients (TDN) intake, dry matter digestibility, the average daily gain (ADG), and feed conversion ratio (FCR). The results showed that different level of concentrate did not influence the DMI, CP and TDN intake, and also dry matter digestibility (P>0.05). The average of DMI, CP, and TDN intake were 5.69 kg, 0.78 kg, and 3,95 kg/head/day respectively. The average of dry matter digestibility was 52.94%. The ADG was 0.53 kg and FCR was 12.80. The conclusion of this research was that the productivity of Jabres cattle fattened using rice straw and 30-70% concentrate were relatively the same.Keywords: productivity, Jabres cattle, rice straw, concentrate

Abstract

Penelitian telah dilaksanakan dengan tujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh kandungan protein dan energi pakan terhadap keempukan daging. Materi penelitian adalah 15 ekor kambing Kacang jantan dengan umur rata-rata 6-18 bulan, dengan bobot badan awal 14,96 ± 3,40 kg (CV = 23%). Bahan pakan yang digunakan adalah rumput gajah, onggok, bungkil kedelai, dan dedak padi yang disusun menjadi complete feed. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok dengan 3 perlakuan pakan dan 5 kelompok bobot badan kambing. Perlakuan pakan yang diterapkan adalah kandungan protein dan total digestible nutrients (TDN), yaitu 1) 9,20% protein dan 54,67% TDN (T1), 2) 11,67% protein dan 58,61%, TDN (T2), dan 3) 18,33% protein dan 65,23% TDN (T). Parameter yang diamati dalam penelitian ini adalah keempukan daging Longissimus dorsi (LD) dan Biceps femoris (BF). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kandungan nutrisi pada pakan tidak berpengaruh nyata (P>0,05) terhadap keempukan daging, nilai rata-rata keempukan daging LD dan BF masing-masing adalah 1,13 dan 1,68 kg/cm2. Bobot badan berpengaruh sangat nyata (P<0,01) terhadap keempukan daging LD, tetapi tidak berpengaruh nyata (P>0,05) terhadap daging BF. Pada otot LD, nilai keempukan pada kelompok bobot badan terendah (9,04 kg) adalah 1,68 kg/cm2, sedangkan pada kelompok bobot badan tertinggi (18,44 kg) adalah 1,41 kg/cm2. Rata-rata keempukan daging BF adalah 1,68 kg/cm2. Disimpulkan bahwa kandungan protein dan energi pakan tidak mempengaruhi keempukan daging pada kambing Kacang jantan, dan bobot badan yang tinggi menghasilkan daging LD yang lebih empuk.

Abstract

ABSTRACT. This study expresses reflection of Herman Melville’s point of view about multiculturalism in his novel, Moby Dick (1851). Five indicators of characteristic of multicultural literature applied as the base of this study are: varied and unique characters, admission of equality of all characters, authentic character’s social background, values of ancient treasure, and author as part of story. By expressive-hermeneutic approach, it can be concluded as followings. First, Moby Dick represents varied and unique characters. Second, Moby Dick represents admission of equality of all characters. Third, Moby Dick shows authentic social background of characters. Fourth, Moby Dick promotes values of ancient treasure, namely tradition and religion (Christian). Fifth, Moby Dick represents Melville’s involvement as part of story through character (Ishmael). Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemanfaatan tepung daun kelor (Moringa oleifera) dalam ransum terhadap produksi non karkas kelinci New Zealand White jantan. Perlakuan yang diberikan yaitu R1 = ransum tanpa tepung daun kelor dan R2 = ransum dengan kandungan tepung daun kelor 10%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa produksi non karkas tidak berbeda nyata (P>0,05) antar perlakuan pakan. Rata-rata bobot dan persentase non karkas 1.072,91 g dan 42,87%, bobot dan persentase kepala 238,81 g dan 22,27%, bobot dan persentase darah 66,59 g dan 6,21%, bobot dan persentase ekor 13,46 g dan 1,26%, bobot dan persentase kulit 250,30 g dan 23,22%, bobot dan persentase kaki 62,50 g dan 5,83% serta bobot dan persentase visera netto 234,23 g dan 21,80%. Simpulan penelitian ini adalah bahwa pemberian tepung daun kelor dan tanpa daun kelor memberikan hasil yang relatif sama terhadap produksi non karkas kelinci New Zealand White jantan.

Abstract

Batik merupakan salah satu warisan umat manusia yang dihasilkan oleh bangsa Indonesia.Jawa Tengah sebagaisalah satu wilayah di Indonesia yang memiliki nilai budaya tinggi juga perlu untuk melestarikan danmengembangkan industri batik. Semarang sebagai ibukota Jawa Tengah menjadi salah satu urat nadi bagipertumbuhan industri batik. Diantara usaha batik yang berkembang di Semarang adalah UKM Mutiara Hastadan UKM Katun Ungu yang dijadikan mitra pada program pengabdian ini. UKM Mutiara Hasta lebihmenitikberatkan pada penyelenggara kursus dan pelatihan batik sedangkan UKM Katun Ungu yangberanggotakan para penderita Tuna Rungu khusus memproduksi batik. Kedua UKM lebih menonjolkan padabatik kontemporer.Program ini bertujuan untuk memacu peningkatan produk UKM melalui peningkatan kualitaspelayanan dan pemasaran, mempercepat difusi teknologi dan manajemen UKM, serta mengembangkanproseslink and match antara perguruan tinggi dengan UKM.Fokus utama dari program ini adalah perbaikansistem manajemen dan akuntansi, pengembangan SDM, packaging dan promosi. Kegiatan dilakukan melaluipendampingan dan pelatihan. Setelah kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat dilaksanakan UKM mitra telahmempunyai kemampuan melakukan pengelolaan administrasi keuangan dan pembukuan secara sederhana sertapeningkatan sumber daya manusia untuk melakukan training bagi anggota baru. UKM mitra juga telahmelakukan packaging sederhana untuk mengemas produk yang dihasilkan serta mempunyai leaflet dan bukukatalog yang memuat company profile untuk keperluan promosi dan memudahkan pelanggan dalam memilihproduk.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the body conditions and body weight loss of male local sheep after transportation from Banjarnegara to Semarang at different times. This study used 22 local rams aged 10 months weighing 17.14 + 1.68 kg (CV= 9.8%). This research used a Completely Randomized Design with two treatments and 11 replications. The treatments were different transportation times consisting of 4 hours (T1) and 6 hours (T2). The parameters used in this study were pulse rate, respiratory rate, and rectal temperature in Banjarnegara (before transportation), Temanggung (during rest), and Semarang (after transportation), as well as body weight loss from male local sheep. The data were analyzed by using a t-test. The results showed that before transportation, the pulse and respiratory rate of T2 rams were higher (P<0.05) than those of T1, however, their body temperatures were relatively the same as the average (35.86 oC). During rest, the pulse rate, respiratory rate, and body temperature of T1 and T2 were relatively the same with an average of 97 times/minute, 57 times/minute and 35.85 oC, respectively. After transportation, the pulse rate of T1 was higher (P<0.05) compared to T2, while the respiratory rate and body temperature of T1 were lower (P<0.05) than those of T2. The body weight of the sheep before and after transportation between T1 and T2 was not significantly different (P>0.05) with an average of 18.33 kg before transportation and  16.80 kg after transportation. The body weight loss of T1 and T2 was about 1.53 kg, and was not significantly different (P>0.05). It can be concluded that different transportation times (4 hours and 6 hours) affected local rams’ physiological conditions with similar body weight loss.Key words : sheep, transportation, physiological conditions, and body weight loss.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the hematocrit, urea and blood glucose levels of thin-tailed sheep fed feed containing various levels of Carica Dieng seeds in complete feed. A total of 18 lams aged 3-4 months with an initial body weight of 10.68 ± 1.30 kg were fed treatment following a completely randomized design pattern: T1 = complete feed + 5% carica seeds, T2 = complete feed + 12,5% carica seeds, 5%, and T3 = complete feed + 20% carica seeds, with 6 repetitions. Blood samples for hematocrit levels were taken at weeks 2 and 9 of the treatment phase, while urea and blood glucose levels were taken at week 9, 0 hours before eating, 3 and 6 hours after being given morning food. Hematocrit levels were measured using a hematocrit reader, while blood glucose and urea levels used a scalvo analyzer. The results showed that various levels of carica seeds in complete feed had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the hematocrit, glucose and blood urea levels in sheep. The average hematocrit level at weeks 2 and 9 were 21.94 and 28.16%, the average glucose level at 0 hours was 71.22 mg/dL, and at 3 and 6 hours each was 79.00; 85.94 mg/dL. The average urea level at 0 hours, 3 and 6 hours was 30.21, 26.96 and 27.26 mg/dL. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that using Carica Dieng seeds in complete feed does not cause haematological disorders characterized by blood profile levels within normal limits.. Abstract

A study to compare the back fat thickness, rib eye muscle area, and body condition score (BCS) of young thin-tailed lambs fed various levels of carica Dieng seeds in rations. Eighteen male lambs aged 3-4 months with an initial body weight of 10.68 ± 1.30 kg were applied three feeding treatments (T) following a completely randomized design, T1 = complete feed containing 5% carica seeds, T2 = complete feed containing 12.5% carica seeds, and T3 = complete feed containing 20% carica seeds, with six replications each.  At the end of 14 weeks of feeding treatment, back fat thickness and rib eye muscle area were measured using the Digital Veterinary Ultrasound Imaging System CTS-800. Yield grade value was determined using back fat thickness data, while the BCS assessment was carried out visually. The results showed that various levels of carica seeds addition to complete feed did not produce significant differences (P>0.05) in all variables measured. Back fat thickness, BCS, and rib eye muscle area in young thin-tailed sheep were  1.46 mm, 3.06, and 15.52 cm2, respectively. It might be concluded that supplementation of carica Dieng seeds up to 20% in the complete feed can still be utilized by young thin-tailed sheep.

Abstract

The evaluation of Carica seed supplementation in feed was carried out to assess its effect on sheep body composition such as water, fat, and protein, using the urea space method which is one method of determining the body composition of livestock without cutting. The study involved 15 male thin-tailed sheep aged 3 months with an average initial body weight of 10.68±1.28 kg, using a completely randomized design (CRD) with three treatments: 5% (T1), 12.5% (T2), and 20% (T3) carica seed supplementation, with five replicates each. The observed parameters included feed intake, daily weight gain, as well as water, fat, and protein content in the body. ANOVA analysis at a 5% significance level revealed that different concentrations of Carica seed significantly affected (P<0.05) crude protein intake, daily weight gain, and body protein composition at week 11. The sheep in the T3 treatment showed the crude protein consumption and daily body weight gain as well as a significant increase in body protein composition compared to the other treatments. Overall, Carica seed supplementation led to a significant increase in body protein content, while having no significant effect on body fat and water composition.
