Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Indonesia is highly susceptible to earthquakes, with the southern and western coasts of Java and Sumatra being the most vulnerable regions. Due to this vulnerability, it is necessary to establish a culture of disaster mitigation in the most fertile and heavily populated islands to reduce the number of fatalities and economic losses caused by earthquakes. One of the promising real-world seismic base isolation methods is using a rubber seismic bearing constructed of rubber and metal layers. This study aimed to examine the typical behavior of natural rubber compounds subjected to various sulfur-curing processes as basic designs in the manufacture of rubber seismic bearings. The experiment was carried out by arranging the sulfur curing system into three categories, namely an efficient which applied N-cyclohexyl-2-benzothiazole sulfonamide (CBS)/Sulfur (S) ratio as 1.4/0.15 and 1.4/0.25, semi-efficient with CBS/S ratio of 1.4/1.4 and 1.4/1.7, and conventional with CBS/S ratio of 1.4/3.0 and 1.4/3.5. The results showed that the ideal modification condition for NR macromolecule chain found in seismic-bearing rubber compound was a semi-efficient sulfur curing system with a CBS/S ratio of 1.4/1.4. It suggested that a semi-efficient sulfur curing system was appropriate for developing rubber compound formulation for seismic rubber bearings, mainly for low-damping types.

Abstract

Poor sleep quality is a common issue among students, negatively impacting their physical health, mental well-being, and academic performance. Buteyko breathing technique is a non-pharmacological method that has the potential to improve sleep quality by normalizing breathing patterns. This study aims to analyze the effect of Buteyko breathing technique on the sleep quality of students. The research employed a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach, utilizing the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) as an instrument. The sample consisted of 30 final-year nursing students with sleep disturbances, selected through purposive sampling. The intervention involved level 1 Buteyko breathing exercises conducted twice daily, in the morning and evening, over one week. Sleep quality was measured using the PSQI, and data analysis was performed using paired t-tests. The results showed that the mean sleep quality score decreased from 13.07 (poor category) before the intervention to 8.47 after the intervention (p = 0.000). The most significant improvement was observed in the sleep duration component, with a mean reduction of 0.9 points. The Buteyko breathing technique effectively improved the students' sleep quality and can be considered a complementary therapy for addressing sleep disturbances to students.

Abstract

The sustainable rubber industry, particularly in the tire sector, is supported by the use of biomaterials such as multifunctional additives. Fatty amine, derived from the esterification of illipe butter, is considered a promising bio-based multifunctional additive for the development of green tires. This research aimed to investigate the effect of varying dosage of fatty amine on the properties of green tire treads based on NR/BR blends reinforced with a silica/silane system. DPG and unmodified illipe butter were used as comparative references. The "magic triangle of tire performance" was employed as a benchmark for evaluating green tire tread performance. The result indicated that both unmodified illipe butter and fatty amine functioned as bio based multifunctional additives, specifically serving as a bio-plasticizer (filler dispersant) and fast-delayed bio-accelerator, respectively. Therefore, they have the potential to substitute DPG in rubber formulations. The combination of unmodified illipe butter and fatty amine at dosages of 2.5 and 1.25 phr, respectively, exhibited similar behavior by enhancing rubber-filler interaction. Consequently, they meet the desirable criteria outlined in the magic triangle of tire performance.

Abstract

Nurses are the main lead in tackling the Covid-19 pandemic as if they are risking contracted by Covid-19. High stress during a pandemic has an impact on psychological problems, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) usage, decision-making difficulty on triage, and fatigue in which those can decrease the immune systems. The aim of study was to identify the dominant factors related to the incidence of Covid-19 in nurses. This observational study used Cross Sectional Study design and consecutive sampling techniques at 136 respondents. Questionnaires was used as instruments tested by validity and reliability to measure Fatigue, Psychological Problems (Depression, Anxiety, Stress), Decision-Making Ability of Triage-EWS Screening Covid-19, Vaccination history, risks of exposure, PPE usage and Covid-19 Incidents. Dominant factor analysis was assessed using multivariate analysis by logistic regression test. Based on the results of the logistic regression test, it was found that the risk of exposure to Covid-19 was the dominant factor with the incidence of Covid-19 among nurses in the pre-intra-hospital settings with significance of the test results p value <0.0. Handling of Covid-19 incidents in health workers is crucial. It has been clear that the risk of exposure to people who are confirmed positive can increase the incidence of Covid-19, so it necessary to make prevention program by implementing physical distancing and increasing activities that impact on increasing of immunity.
