Abstract

Public transportation is vital for addressing urban mobility challenges and reducing traffic congestion. To improve public transportation systems and encourage usage, understanding commuter behavior, attitudes, and preferences is crucial. This research aims to identify commuter segments based on demography, attitude, and behavior, and determine their future intentions towards public transportation. Data was collected from 257 respondents residing in the Greater Jakarta area, encompassing Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi, through an online survey. Segmentation was achieved using factor analysis and cluster analysis. The analysis identified three distinct commuter segments with varying behavior, attitude, and perception towards public transportation. The first group, Affluent Men, preferred private vehicles but expressed environmental concern and openness to adopting new technology. They showed eagerness to utilize high-quality public transportation services like the MRT. The second group, Millennial "Rokers," primarily relied on public transportation, seeking convenience, shorter travel durations, and reduced risk. The final group, "Easy Going and Active Women," had no specific preference for public or private transportation as long as they could reach their destinations quickly. However, they had significant health concerns, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Surprisingly, all three segments demonstrated similar future intentions towards public transportation usage post-pandemic, posing governance challenges in promoting public transportation and integrating transport systems in Jabodetabek. This paper contributes by integrating behavior, demography, and attitudes to build the segmentation, examining their reactions to the pandemic and intentions towards public transportation. The findings have implications for policymakers and practitioners, requiring tailored policies and interventions for different segments.

Abstract

This study investigates the role of oil and gas companies, particularly INDOPERTA, in mitigating global carbon emissions among rising energy demands and a shift toward coal and oil. This study highlights the urgency for strategic energy realignment and cleaner, sustainable sources, drawing from International Energy Agency (IEA) reports and various studies. The objective is to understand how companies such as INDOPERTA can integrate operations with effective carbon emission reduction strategies. A mixed-methods approach is employed, combining qualitative analysis of stakeholder perspectives with the AHP to prioritize initiatives based on identified criteria. Findings reveal compliance and regulation and leadership as critical areas needing focused resource allocation. The AHP analysis underscores the strategic importance of renewable energy investment and the pivotal role of leadership and innovation. It suggests a multifaceted approach involving regulatory adherence, international cooperation, and leadership development for effective carbon reduction. The study concludes that international oil and gas companies are at a crucial juncture. They must align their operations with global environmental goals and innovate to remain relevant in the climate agenda. It provides a roadmap for strategy realignment toward sustainability. However, this study has limitations, including its geographical focus, the dynamic nature of the industry, subjectivity in qualitative research and AHP, and reliance on secondary data. These findings highlight the need for ongoing research that adapts to industry changes and global carbon reduction efforts, ensuring that strategies remain relevant and effective.

Abstract

The strategic selection of a cement plant location is crucial for optimizing operational efficiency, sustainability, and market positioning. This study examines the optimal location for PT. RKB's new cement plant in West Java, Indonesia, uses the quantitative Simple Multi-Attribute Rating Technique (SMART) within a Multi-Criteria Decision-Analysis (MCDA) framework. The SMART method transforms various criteria into measurable insights, ensuring a systematic evaluation of alternative sites. Key criteria included economic viability, technical feasibility, environmental impact, and socio-economic considerations. A comprehensive analysis of three potential sites revealed Location C as the most suitable, offering the best balance of economic benefits, technical advantages, manageable environmental impacts, and strong community support. Sensitivity analysis confirmed the robustness of this decision under various scenarios. This study provides a data-driven methodology for strategic site selection in the cement industry, contributing to PT. RKB's sustainable growth and competitive positioning. Theoretically, this research advances the application of MCDA in industrial site selection, while practically, it offers a replicable model for decision-makers in similar industries.
