Abstract

Introduction: Adolescents are a vulnerable group to risky sexual behavior due to biological, psychological, and social changes that occur during the transition to adulthood. Limited knowledge about the dangers of risky sexual behavior and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) can increase the risk of reproductive health problems, sexually transmitted infections, and unintended pregnancies. Therefore, appropriate educational strategies are needed to improve adolescents knowledge regarding reproductive health. One effective approach is the use of video-based health education, which can present information in an engaging and easily understandable format. Objective: This study aimed to determine the effect of video-based health education on adolescents knowledge about the dangers of risky sexual behavior and sexually transmitted diseases. Method: This study employed a quantitative method with a pre-experimental design using a one-group pre-test and post-test approach. The research was conducted among students of SMKN 1 Kawali in 2025. The sample consisted of students who met the inclusion criteria and were selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire to measure adolescents knowledge before and after the intervention. The data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. Results: The results showed an increase in adolescents knowledge after receiving video-based health education. Statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon test indicated a significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores, with a p-value < 0.05. Conclusion: Video-based health education has a significant effect on improving adolescents knowledge about the dangers of risky sexual behavior and sexually transmitted diseases. Therefore, the use of video as an educational medium can be considered an effective strategy in health promotion programs for adolescents.

Abstract

Introduction: Anemia remains a common public health problem among adolescents, characterized by low hemoglobin levels. This group is more vulnerable due to menstruation, rapid growth, and increased iron requirements, which are often not balanced with a healthy diet. Furthermore, the perception of a less-than-ideal body image encourages adolescent girls to restrict their diet, resulting in suboptimal nutritional status. However, nutritional status plays a crucial role in the incidence of anemia because it is related to iron adequacy in the body. Therefore, it is necessary to examine the relationship between nutritional status and the incidence of anemia in adolescent girls as a preventative measure. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between nutritional status and the incidence of anemia in adolescent girls. Method The study used an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach, involving 47 grade VIII female adolescents at SMPN 5 Ciamis in 2026, who were taken using simple random sampling. Nutritional status was measured using Body Mass Index for age (BMI/A), while anemia was measured based on hemoglobin levels (Hb <12 g/dL). Data analysis was performed using the Chi-Square test with a significance level of 0.05. Result: The results of the study showed that the majority of respondents had normal nutritional status (48.9%) and did not have anemia (55.3%). However, 38.3% of adolescents had poor nutritional status and 44.7% had anemia. Bivariate analysis revealed a significant association between nutritional status and the prevalence of anemia (p = 0.008). Conclusion: This study confirms that nutritional status plays a crucial role in the development of anemia in adolescent girls. Therefore, schools and health professionals should promote balanced nutrition rich in iron and provide targeted health education about anemia prevention to adolescent girls.

Abstract

Introduction: Adolescence is a crucial phase marked by rapid growth and development in physical, psychological, emotional, and social aspects. At this stage, preparedness to face emergency situations becomes important to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment. Emergencies such as cardiac arrest, choking, or loss of consciousness may occur unexpectedly, requiring immediate and appropriate response. However, the readiness of high school students in providing Basic Life Support (BLS) is still limited. Therefore, community service activities aimed at equipping adolescents with life-saving skills are essential to strengthen school-based emergency preparedness. Objective:The purpose of this community service program was to improve the preparedness of students at SMA 1 Cihaurbeuti through practical training in Basic Life Support (BLS). Methods: The methods used in this activity were participatory training consisting of lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on practice using manikins. Students were introduced to basic emergency management and trained to perform essential BLS procedures, including chest compressions and rescue breathing. Pre-test and post-test evaluations were conducted to measure the improvement in knowledge and skills. Results: The evaluation showed a significant improvement in students’ knowledge as indicated by the difference between the initial and final assessments. In addition, students demonstrated the ability to perform chest compressions and artificial respiration according to standard procedures. These outcomes indicate that the training effectively enhanced students’ skills and readiness in handling emergency situations. Conclusion: This community service activity was successfully implemented and resulted in increased preparedness among students at SMA 1 Cihaurbeuti in facing emergencies. The improvement in knowledge and practical skills in BLS contributes to strengthening school readiness in creating a safe and healthy learning environment.

Abstract

Introduction:Aging is a natural process characterized by a gradual decline in physical, cognitive, and functional abilities. One of the major health challenges among older adults is Demensia, which can significantly reduce independence and quality of life. Early prevention efforts through health education are essential to delay cognitive decline and maintain functional ability among the elderly. However, awareness and knowledge regarding dementia prevention among older adults and caregivers in community settings remain limited. Therefore, community service activities aimed at providing education on dementia prevention are important to support independent and healthy aging. Objective:The purpose of this community service program was to improve the independence of elderly participants at Daycare Lansia Setaman Aisyiah Ciamis through community-based education on dementia prevention conducted in April 2025. Methods:The methods used in this activity were participatory education consisting of lectures, interactive discussions, and simple cognitive stimulation exercises. Participants were provided with information regarding risk factors, early signs, and preventive strategies for Demensia, including healthy lifestyle practices, balanced nutrition, physical activity, and mental exercises. Pre-test and post-test evaluations were conducted to assess the improvement in participants’ knowledge and understanding. Result:The evaluation results indicated a significant increase in participants’ knowledge regarding dementia prevention, as shown by the improvement in post-test scores compared to pre-test results. Additionally, participants demonstrated better understanding and ability to apply simple cognitive and physical exercises that support independence. These findings suggest that the educational intervention effectively enhanced awareness and skills related to dementia prevention among the elderly. Conclusion:This community service activity was successfully implemented in April 2025 at Daycare Lansia Setaman Aisyiah Ciamis and resulted in improved knowledge and independence among elderly participants. The program contributes to promoting healthy aging and supports the development of community-based
