The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of innovation and demand optimization on partnerships in production and production performance in the food and beverage manufacturing industry in Indonesia. This research is a quantitative study using PLS-SEM. Data collection in this study was carried out by distributing questionnaires with a sample of 54 respondents of owners and managers working in the medium-large food and beverage manufacturing companies in Indonesia. The findings indicate that innovation and demand optimization can encourage companies to do partnerships in production. Innovation and demand optimization also shown to improve company’s production performance. However, there is no significant effect between partnerships in production and production performance. This is because partnerships often experience a dilemma due to the influence on company performance which may either be favorable or unfavorable to the production performance. The research findings extend literature of supply chain management in the context of internal perspectives of the companies. The context of the research is limited to small numbers of medium-large companies in Indonesia, thus, call for further examination with a larger sample size and in different contexts for further finding generalization. This research provides broader view on the internal perspectives of company’s supply chain management through the perspective of Resource Based View, as well as providing several suggestions for managers of medium-large food and beverage manufacturing companies in developing countries. Abstract

This study examines how Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Ethical Leadership (EL), and Corporate Governance (CG) affect firm performance in Indonesia's construction materials industry. Using data from 84 industry professionals, the research employed partial least squares regression analysis to investigate these relationships. The findings reveal that corporate governance has a significant direct positive impact on firm performance, while CSR and ethical leadership show no significant direct effects. However, corporate governance plays a crucial moderating role, negatively moderating the relationship between CSR and performance while positively moderating the link between ethical leadership and performance. These results suggest that the effectiveness of both CSR initiatives and ethical leadership practices depends heavily on the strength of corporate governance mechanisms. The study contributes to stakeholder theory and provides practical insights for business leaders and policymakers on how to enhance organizational performance through better integration of social responsibility, ethical leadership, and governance practices. The findings highlight the importance of developing robust governance frameworks that can effectively translate CSR and ethical leadership initiatives into improved business outcomes.

Abstract

The study aims to examine the influence of various dimensions of DC—sensing, learning, and integrating/coordination capabilities—on the business performance of Micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), as well as the potential moderating effect of firm scale. MSMEs are integral to Indonesia's economic framework. However, their resilience is challenged by economic crises and the COVID-19 pandemic, which emphasized the importance of dynamic capabilities (DC) in adapting to volatile environments. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected via questionnaires from 51 Indonesian MSMEs. Findings indicate that learning and integrating/coordination capabilities significantly enhance business performance, while sensing capability does not. Firm scale shows no moderating effect, suggesting uniform strategies across micro, small, and medium enterprises. This study enhances the existing DC theory by elucidating the specific contributions of its dimensions within resource-limited environments and offers practical recommendations for MSME managers to focus on skill enhancement and operational effectiveness to achieve sustained growth.

Abstract

This study investigates the mediating role of competitive advantage in the innovation capability and strategic flexibility-firm performance link, in regard to the food and beverage SMEs of East Java, post-COVID-19. This research will seek to explain how these two factors contribute to firm performance by having competitive advantage as a mediating variable. Data were collected from 107 respondents who underwent quantitative analysis. The results showed that innovation capability significantly and directly affects competitive advantage and firm performance, while strategic flexibility affects firm performance only significantly through the mediation of competitive advantage, noting its indirect role. Again, this research points to the enhancement of innovation capabilities as an important way to sustain competitive advantages; hence, a recommendation goes to SMEs in East Java for strategizing to become adaptable. The findings form a helpful indication for the SME managers on how to develop long-term performance in the dynamic business environment.

Abstract

Introduction: Hospital service efficiency plays a crucial role in shaping patient satisfaction, which is widely regarded as a key indicator of healthcare quality. Waiting time is one of the most frequently cited factors influencing patients’ perceptions of service performance. However, satisfaction is also affected by interpersonal aspects, such as professionalism and friendliness of healthcare staff. This study examines the relationship between service waiting time and patient satisfaction at Siloam Hospitals Makassar, focusing on registration, doctor, pharmacy, and cashier services. Methods: A quantitative research design was used, employing secondary data obtained from the MySiloam application. The study included 360 outpatients selected through purposive sampling. Independent variables consisted of waiting times for registration, doctor consultation, pharmacy services, and cashier processing, while patient satisfaction served as the dependent variable. Data were analyzed using the Chi-Squared Test to determine the relationship between waiting time categories and satisfaction levels. Results: The analysis showed no significant difference in registration waiting time between self–check-in users and those assisted by staff (ρ = 0.720). However, registration waiting time demonstrated a significant relationship with patient satisfaction (ρ = 0.009). In contrast, no significant associations were found between patient satisfaction and waiting times for doctor consultation (ρ = 0.202), pharmacy (ρ = 0.558), or cashier services (ρ = 0.831). Findings indicate that patients remain satisfied despite longer waits when services are delivered professionally and accurately. Conclusion: The study concludes that reducing registration waiting time may improve overall satisfaction, yet the interpersonal quality of healthcare services remains the most influential factor shaping patient perceptions and loyalty. These findings highlight the importance of enhancing both service efficiency and interpersonal service quality to strengthen patient perceptions and loyalty toward hospital services.

Abstract

Remote work has existed for quite some time, but has gained popularity with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, as all activities had to be conducted from home. The research gap lies in the scarcity of empirical evidence on how organizational culture and work fatigue mediate the relationship between Work From Home (WFH) and work-life balance (WLB), especially in the Indonesian context. This study examined whether organizational culture and work fatigue mediate the impact of WFH on WLB among Indonesian workers. The research aimed to understand how work-life balance is affected by organizational culture and work fatigue among Indonesian remote workers. Using purposive sampling, the research gathered data from 112 respondents and analyzed them with Smart PLS. The findings indicate that the direct relationship between WFH and WLB, as well as work fatigue is not significant. Similarly, the mediating effect of organizational culture and work fatigue on the relationship between work-from-home and work-life balance were not significant. Furthermore, the link between organizational culture and work-life balance is not significant. A significant relationship is observed only between work fatigue and WLB, and between WFH and organizational culture. This research is crucial because while remote work offers flexibility, it also poses challenges such as fatigue and blurred boundaries that may jeopardize employees' well-being. Understanding these dynamics helps organizations in developing supportive cultures and strategies to enhance employee WLB in the post-pandemic digital-first era.

Abstract

This research examines the factors that influence Generation Z’s career success in Surabaya. It focuses on the roles of networking and personal branding with social capital as a mediating variable. The Indonesian job market has shown increasing instability for young professionals in recent years, with Surabaya facing a higher-than-average youth unemployment rate. Gen Z, once seen as a demographic advantage for the country, is at a crucial juncture where it could become either a demographic asset or a burden. This study investigates how networking and personal branding affect career outcomes through social capital. Quantitative research was conducted through a survey of 108 Gen Z graduates in Surabaya, aged 24 to 28, all with at least three years of work experience, using purposive sampling. Data was collected through an online questionnaire and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results indicate that networking and personal branding significantly influence career success, while also enhancing social capital. Social capital has a positive influence on career success and significantly mediates the effects of personal branding and career success. These findings indicate that Gen Z should not only emphasize technical skills but also invest in building their networks and personal brands to enhance their career success. The research recommends creating university programs that focus on relationship-building skills, digital branding, and social capital development to improve the career growth of Gen Z in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study’s research objective is to analyze the relationship between Green Innovation (GI), Sustainable Practices (SP), Competitive Advantage (CA), and Business Performance (BP) in Indonesia’s wood processing industry. This research utilizes a quantitative explanatory technique and Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to analyze the hypothesis. The research population includes medium to large enterprises in Indonesia’s wood processing industry, categorized under wood sawmilling (KBLI 1610) and wood preservation (KBLI 16102). The data was obtained through an online questionnaire, utilizing a purposive sampling technique, where 100 valid data was collected. The results demonstrate that GI has a significant and positive effect on CA and BP. SP has a significant effect on CA, however SP has a nonsignificant effect on BP. However, CA partially mediates the relationship between GI and BP. CA fully mediates the relationship between SP and BP. Thus, suggesting that firms in Indonesia’s wood processing industry should integrate green innovation and sustainable practices to gain sustained competitive advantage and enhanced business performance.
