Abstract

This study aims to to classify business strategies adopted by manufacturing firms. Data were acquired by sending questionnaires to Indonesian manufacturing firms in Java. Factor and cluster analysis were performed on 435 survey data. Using principal component analysis and varimax rotation, the factor analysis identified two distinct business strategies based on Porter's generic strategy: cost leadership and differentiation. Hierarchical and K-means clustering conducted sequentially enabled the identification of three clusters of business strategy: cost leadership, differentiation, and no strategy. According to the findings, the majority of Indonesian manufacturing firms utilize the differentiation strategy, followed by the cost leadership strategy. Only a small percentage of firms employ no strategy at all. The descriptive analysis of each cluster shows that the number of firms adopting the differentiation strategy is significantly higher than those pursuing the cost leadership strategy in a number of products, including food and beverage, computers, electronic, and optical products, as well as machinery and electrical equipment. For some products, such as automotive and furniture, the percentage of firms using cost leadership or differentiation strategies is comparable. Large firms dominate both clusters. Nevertheless, there are more large firms in the differentiation cluster than in the cost leadership cluster. The findings of this study enrich the body of knowledge in the domains of strategic management and manufacturing by classifying the business strategies that help firms achieve their business objectives, particularly in the context of emerging countries.

Abstract

The most significant source of waste in Indonesia is households. This community service aims to improve the environmental quality of Kesiman Village by educating residents to sort waste from their households. This activity begins with observations and interviews with residents. Preliminary survey results show that the waste problem has been around for a long time, and accumulation occurs in the Final Disposal Site (TPA). Based on interviews with villagers, they are willing to participate in the waste management assistance program. Furthermore, waste sorting facilities are provided for each resident's house by empowering village communities with expertise. Counseling or education is carried out at the home of a resident, as well as providing a real example of waste segregation. Sorting is done based on the categories of organic and non-organic waste. Two weeks after the counseling, the service team evaluated by direct surveying several residents' houses to see if the sorting had gone well and smoothly. The evaluation results show that residents understand and carry out waste segregation consistently. However, there are several obstacles; for example, some houses feel the trash can needs to be bigger, and sometimes they place organic and non-organic waste upside down. After the household waste sorting program runs smoothly, the community service team will plan and realize the Village waste management program so that the volume of waste is reduced and the environment is cleaner.

Abstract

Designing digital apps for businesses, including retail companies, is crucial in the digitalization era. To enhance the customers’ shopping experience, an AI-based digital app for supermarkets has been designed to facilitate customers’ searching for and purchasing goods. AI-based digital apps with a good user interface and user experience design will be very effective because they can enhance the app’s visual appeal. After developing the digital app based on the user’s needs and preferences, usability testing was conducted to assess whether it could overcome the problem and enhance the shopping experience. This study aims to determine the usability of digital apps using mixed methods through qualitative and quantitative methods. The usability testing was conducted quantitatively through Maze software (for seven tasks) and a questionnaire using Nielsen’s aspects, including learnability, efficiency, memorability, accuracy, and satisfaction. The results of the Maze score indicated an 80% success rate and a usability score of 59%. This result refers to a medium usability score, indicating the need for future improvements. The results from the usability testing using the questionnaire showed high scores on learnability (85%), efficiency (80%), and memorability (83%), as well as medium scores on accuracy (60%) and satisfaction (50%). The average score from questionnaires is 72%. Both results implied medium usability scores. After quantitative testing, qualitative data regarding users’ experiences, problems, and expectations using the digital app were collected through interviews and observations. The results of the quantitative and qualitative analysis show that the digital shopping app should improve its layout, ease of use, features like a favorites section, and product descriptions. The findings of this study offer fresh insight into integrating quantitative and qualitative methods. In contrast, quantitative and qualitative testing results can be combined to provide a comprehensive analysis that will help the apps improve.In addition, qualitative data regarding users’ experience, problems and expectations in using the digital application was also collected for completing the quantitative data. Based on the usability measurement, it was found that the supermarket digital application has already met all the usability aspects, from qualitative and qualitative data.

Abstract

Pembelajaran kewirausahaan dimasukkan dalam kurikulum perguruan tinggi dengan maksud untuk mempersiapkan mahasiswa menjadi seorang wirausaha setelah lulus kuliah nanti. Dengan demikian, mahasiswa bisa mandiri dan menciptakan lapangan pekerjaan, paling tidak untuk dirinya sendiri. Selain membekali mahasiswa dengan hard skills, mata kuliah tersebut juga membentuk soft skills wirausaha pada mahasiswa. Walaupun demikian, dalam pelaksanaannya, perlu dilakukan evaluasi pembelajaran, untuk mendapatkan umpan balik dari mahasiswa terkait dengan pembelajaran tersebut. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menganalisis pembelajaran mata kuliah kewirausahaan di perguruan tinggi. Evaluasi dilakukan dengan menyebarkan kuesioner kepada sejumlah mahasiswa aktif yang mengikuti perkuliahan kewirausahaan dan inovasi (KWI). Hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa dari analisis deskriptif mayoritas responden berasal dari fakultas teknik (55,3%), sebagian besar mempunyai IPK 2,51–3,00 (32,8%), berimbang antara laki-laki dan perempuan, mayoritas tinggal di rumah sendiri (47,2%), uang saku per bulan < 1 juta (50,1%), sebanyak 96,8% mahasiswa menyatakan perlu untuk diberikan mata kuliah KWI di universitas, dan mayoritas mahasiswa (89,7%) menyatakan bahwa dengan diberikannya mata kuliah KWI berpengaruh pada minat untuk berwirausaha di kalangan mahasiswa. Sedangkan untuk analisis pembelajaran KWI, ada lima materi yang perlu diberikan pada mata kuliah KWI yaitu (1) mental wirausaha, (2) inovasi, (3) mencari gagasan/ide usaha, (4) menghadapi risiko, dan (5) pemasaran, serta lima kegiatan utama yang perlu diadakan untuk melengkapi mata kuliah KWI meliputi: (1) kunjungan ke suatu usaha, (2) expo, (3) kuliah tamu, (4) success story, dan (5) business camp. Berdasarkan analisis SWOT dapat diketahui bahwa mata kuliah KWI ini dapat meningkatkan minat mahasiswa untuk membuka usaha sendiri dan cukup dibekali dengan pengetahuan hard skill maupun soft skill. Secara keseluruhan analisis SWOT menyatakan bahwa kinerja perkuliahan KWI dinilai baik oleh mahasiswa dan terus perlu dilakukan perbaikan tiada henti sehingga mahasiswa semakin merasakan manfaat mata kuliah ini bagi penumbuhan minat wirausaha mahasiswa. Diharapkan hasil penelitian ini bisa memberikan masukan bagi peningkatan kualitas pembelajaran kewirausahaan selanjutnya.

Abstract

Pencatatan Akuntansi merupakan hal krusial bagi semua usaha. BUMDes Mitra Warga, Desa Kesiman memiliki empat unit usaha, yaitu unit kebersihan, unit penyediaan air bersih, unit pasar, dan unit loreomah (café dan restaurant). Berdasarkan hasil survey awal dengan mitra, diketahui bahwa BUMDes hanya memiliki pencatatan manual, belum memiliki laporan keuangan, dan unit usaha juga belum mengidentifikasi aset yang dimiliki. Oleh karena itu, tim pengabdian ubaya bertujuan memberikan pendampingan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan kualitas pencatatan keuangan unit usaha BUMDes Desa Kesiman. Kegiatan pengabdian dilakukan dengan pendekatan wawancara, pelatihan literasi keuangan, dan pendampingan praktik akuntansi. Pelatihan akuntansi wajib diikuti oleh seluruh pengurus unit usaha BUMDes, beserta bendahara Desa. Selanjutnya, pendampingan dilakukan untuk setiap unit usaha yang diadakan secara rutin. Hasil evaluasi pelatihan menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman pesera meningkatkan. Hasil kegiatan pendampingan berhasil mendorong unit usaha untuk mulai mengidentifikasi dan mencatat asetnya, serta merapikan pencatatan keuangannya. Dari pencatatan unit usaha yang telah rapi, diharapkan membantu BUMDes dalam menyusun laporan keuangan sederhana, agar dapat dipahami semua pengguna laporan.
