Abstract

This research aims to know the influence of chili’s seed priming on improving germination, growth, and development in the field, before, during, and after stress conditions (water stress and disease). Priming is a technique of seed pretreatment with osmoticum solution or moist solids, which allows slow inbibition; thus radicals emergence and growth are prevented. It is a simple and easy technique to apply, which can increase the germination, and performance or vigour in a broad spectrum. Implementation is in three trials, each trial consisting of 2 stages. The first stage on the early experiment was priming (priming treatment with 4 days incubation and priming test), and the second stage was the germination (germinating the seed that has been treated by priming and germination test). The first stage on the further experiment is priming and the second stage were growth and development test before, during, and after the stress conditions. The results showed that seed priming treatments can maintain and improve the quality of seeds, and increase germination, both germination percentage and germination rate, as well as enhance the growth of plant height and total leaves of Chili at age 2 wat (weeks after transplanting). Abstract

This research aims to to know the seed viability of the two dates on the market. It has been done from July to November 2014, in the laboratory of  Mathematics and Natural Science Faculty, Yogyakarta State University. The type of Dates seeds are Sayer (oval-cilindrical, ±3cm, dark orange brown/more light than another),  and Lulu (round, ±2cm, dark maroon reddish /more dark than Sayer’s). Viability test by germination testing; conducted on plastic tray with cotton sheet and fabric covered; fill with 100 grains of seeds. Repeated 4 times. Incubation at room temperature (±30oC). The parameters were seed fresh weight, seed dry weight, seed moisture, germination percentage and germination rate. The results were analyzed by compare mean - independent samples t test of SPSS 18’th. The results showed that the viability of both of Date’s seeds from local’s market (Sayer and Lulu) is high. Sayer’s have better viability than Lulu’s (due to the germination percentage and germination rate). Keywords: date seed, viability test, germination test

Abstract

The study was conducted to develop science module based on project-based learning that is feasible to be implemented in science learning and has potency to build critical thinking skills of junior high school students. The study was Research and Development (RnD), modified from Borg and Gall steps covering only research and information collecting, planning, preliminary form of product development, expert judgment, product revision, and final product. The subjects were 2 expert lecturers (content expert and media expert) and 2 science teachers of SMP N 1 Wonosari. The types of data were quantitative and qualitative. Data were collected by means of SSP validation sheets and disaster preparedness identification sheets. The techniques of data analysis were descriptive analysis of qualitative and quantitative to 5 grading scale. The result of the study shows that science module is feasible to be implemented in science learning and has potency to build critical thinking skills of junior high school students.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop a product in the form of student worksheet based on the guided inquiry assisted by PhET simulation media on Vibration and Wave materials that was feasible according to validators, practical according to science teacher and student responses, and effective to improve student’s concept comprehension. This study was a research and development (R and D), which was adapted from Thiagarajan’s 4D model. The main field-testing was conducted at SMPN 2 Sukoharjo via online upon 12 students of class VIII H. The design of the main field-testing was one group pre-test-post-test design. The analysis technique included the mean score, Meltzer’s standard gain test and Cohen’s effect size test. The results show that (1) the obtained student worksheet product based on guided inquiry assisted by PhET simulations was feasible according to the material and media experts with an excellent category, (2) the practicality of the student worksheet used by science teacher was in an excellent category and obtained good responses from the students, and (3) the effectiveness of the developed student worksheet was able to improve concept comprehension with a gain score in the moderate category and the effect size was categorized as a strong effect.

Abstract

Tujuan dari kegiatan PPM ini yaitu agar guru IPA mampu menyiapkan konten bahan ajar IPA bermuatan life skills dan mengidentifikasi aspek-aspek life skills yang dapat dimuat dalam konten bahan ajar IPA. PPM ini menggunakan metode Brainstorming, ceramah, diskusi dan workshop. Kegiatan PPM diikuti oleh 30 orang guru IPA dari MTs se Kabupaten Sleman. Produk yang terkumpul sebanyak 19 peta analisis kebutuhan bahan ajar dan 17 bahan ajar LKPD. Hasil PPM menunjukkan bahwa dari keseluruhan produk yang dikumpulkan sebagian besar (lebih dari 75% dari 19) sudah dapat memetakan kebutuhan bahan ajar dengan kategori baik. Kemampuan mengembangkan bahan ajar berorientasi life skills sudah baik (N=17). Sebagian besar peserta juga memberikan respon positif terhadap kegiatan PPM yang dilaksanakan.

Abstract

This study aims to determine: (1) the feasibility of students’ worksheet in natural science learning based on POE according to expert lecturers and natural science teachers, (2) students’ science process skill enhancement after using student worksheet in natural science learning based on POE, and (3) students’ responses to student worksheet in natural science learning based on developed POE. This research was a development research with 4D model. The research subject were 11 eighth grade students of Junior High School 2 Pleret. The product trial design used a one-group pretest-posttest design. Data analysis was the conversion of quantitative scores into qualitative values one a scale of four, calculation of percentages, and gain scores. The result showed that: (1) student worksheet in natural science learning based on POE to improve science process skills were declared feasible by expert lecturers and natural science teachers with very good category, (2) mastery of science process skills through observations included good category, while the improving science process skills in terms of pretest-posttest result was in the medium category, and (3) student responses to student worksheet in natural science learning POE was in the very good category.

Abstract

       Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengembangkan LKPD Komik IPA dengan pendekatan sains teknologi masyarakat lingkungan yang layak menurut dosen ahli dan guru IPA, mengetahui kemampuan problem solving, dan ketercapaian sikap peduli terhadap lingkungan setelah menggunakan LKPD komik IPA tersebut. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan (RD) dengan model 4-D. Tahapannya meliputi pendefinisian (define), perancangan (design), pengembangan (develop) dan penyebaran (disseminate). LKPD komik IPA dianalisis menggunakan konversi menjadi empat kategori; data keterlaksanaan pembelajaran dianalisis menggunakan konversi persentase keterlaksanaan dengan lima kategori; data pretest- posttest problem solving dianalisis menggunakan gain score serta data hasil kemampuan problem solving dan data observasi sikap peduli terhadap lingkungan dianalisis menggunakan konversi lima kategori. Hasil penelitian adalah pengembangan LKPD komik IPA dengan pendekatan sains teknologi masyarakat lingkungan layak sebagai bahan ajar dengan katagori sangat baik, LKPD komik IPA dapat meningkatkan kemampuan problem solving dibuktikan dengan perhitungan gain score dengan katagori sedang, didukung berdasarkan hasil observasi mengalami peningkatan dari kategori cukup menjadi kategori sangat baik, ketercapaian sikap peduli terhadap lingkungan dalam katagori sangat baik.Kata Kunci: LKPD Komik IPA, Problem Solving, Sikap Peduli terhadap Lingkungan, STML       This study aims to determine: (1) to develop a viable comic worksheet with science environment technology society approach according to expert lecturers and science teachers; (2) improving problem solving skills; and (3) achievement of care attitude about environment after using comic science worksheet. This study is a research development (R D) with 4-D models. The stages of this study include the define phase (definition), design (design), develop (development), and disseminate (dissemination). Comic science worksheet were analyzed using conversion in 4 categories, learning implementation is analyzed by using percentage conversion with 5 categories, pretest and posttest using gain score, problem solving skills and care attitude were analyzed using conversion percentage of the five categories. Results of this research are the development a comic science worksheet with science environment technology society approach is feasible as teaching material with very good category, comic science worksheet can foster problem solving skills evidenced by the results of calculations by the gain score with the medium category, supported based on the observation from good enough category became very good category, the attainment of care attitude about environment in very good category.Keywords: Care Attitude about Environment, Comic Science Worksheet, Problem Solving, SETS

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui: (1) kelayakan LKPD dengan pendekatan authentic inquiry learning pada tema Pencemaran Air (2) keefektifan LKPD berpendekatan authentc inquiry learning pada tema Pencemaran Air terhadap peningkatan keingintahuan peserta didik (3) keefektifan LKPD berpendekatan authentc inquiry learning pada tema Pencemaran Air terhadap peningkatan kemampuan memecahkan masalah peserta didik. Model penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini mengadaptasi model 4D dari Thiagarajan. Model 4D meliputi tahap pendefinisian (define), perencanaan (design), pengembangan (develop), dan penyebaran (disseminate). Subjek penelitian adalah peserta didik 31 peserta didik kelas VII B SMP N 1 Wates. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini meliputi angket validasi, angket respon peserta didik terhadap LKPD, lembar observasi sikap keingintahuan, lembar observasi pemecahan masalah, angket keingintahuan peserta didik, kemampuan memecahkan masalah diperoleh melalui tes (pretest-postest), dan lembar observasi keterlaksanaan pembelajaran authentic inquiry learning.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa LKPD dengan pendekatan authentic inquiry learning berdasarkan kelayakan LKPD oleh validator dan respon peserta didik memperoleh nilai A dengan kriteria sangat baik. LKPD dengan pendekatan authentic inquiry learning efektif meningkatkan keingintahuan peserta didik dengan rata–rata persentase 63,746%, serta efektif meningkatkan kemampuan memecahkan masalah peserta didik dengan gain score kategori sedangKata Kunci: LKPD IPA, pendekatan authentic inquiry learning, sikap keingintahuan, dan kemampuan memecahkan masalah

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan (1 ) Menghasilkan Interesting Handout berbasis PBL pada materi zat aditif dan adiktif yang layak untuk menunjang pembelajaran IPA berdasarkan penilaian dari validator, (2) Mengetahui efektivitas Interesting Handout berbasis PBL pada materi zat aditif dan adiktif yang dikembangkan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Research and Development (RD) dengan model 4D (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). Berdasarkan penilaian dari dosen ahli dan guru IPA memperoleh nilai B dengan kategori baik, kategori ini diperoleh dari analisis (PA) Passing Of Agreement dengan rata-rata persen sebesar 83,84%. Keterlaksanaan PBL selama proses pembelajaran dinilai berdasarkan penilaian observer dan didapat hasil dalam persen sebesar 92,04%, dan berdasarkan responden dari peserta didik diperoleh rata-rata 86,05 dengan nilai A dengan kategori sangat baik. Interesting handout ini dapat menumbuhkan keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik SMP kelas VIII, pertumbuhan keterampilan berpikir kritis melalui soal pretest-posttest dengan perhitungan gain score menunjukkan angka 0,55 yang termasuk dalam kategori sedang.Kata kunci: Interesting Handout, Kemampuan Berpikir Kritis, Problem Based Learning.This study aims to (1) Generate Interesting Handout based PBL in material additive and addictive eligible to support science teaching based on the assessment of the validator (2) Assess the effectiveness Interesting Handout PBL based on material additives and addictive substances are being developed to enhance the critical thinking skills of learners. This research R D with the model 4D (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). Based on the assessment of expert lecturers and science teachers obtain a grade of B with good category, this category is obtained from the analysis (PA) Passing Of Agreement with an average of 83.84% per cent. To be complete PBL during the learning process and the observer assessed based on the assessment results obtained in percentage of 92.04%, and based on the respondent of students gained an average of 86.05 with an A with a very good category. Interesting this handout can foster critical thinking skills of junior high school students of class VIII, growth of critical thinking skills through problem pretest-posttest with the calculation of gain score of 0.55 indicates the number included in the medium category.Keywords: Critical Thinking Skills , Interesting Handout, Problem Based Learning.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pembelajaran IPA berbasis model Children Learning in Science (CLIS) terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik. Penelitian ini merupakan eksperimen semu dengan design non equivalent control group design. Populasi penelitian ini seluruh kelas VII di SMP Negeri 2 Wates. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling dan diperoleh kelas VII A sebagai kelas eksperimen yang menggunakan model Children Learning In Science (CLIS) dan kelas VII B sebagai kelas kontrol menggunakan pembelajaran 5M (Scientific Approach). Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berupa soal pretest-posttest, lembar observasi keterampilan berpikir kritis dan lembar observasi keterlaksanaan pembelajaran. Teknik analisis data meliputi uji prasyarat dan uji hipotesis. Uji prasyarat penelitian berupa uji normalitas dan homogenitas, uji hipotesis penelitian menggunakan uji t (Independent Sample t-test), selanjutnya dilakukan dengan perhitungan Effect Size Cohen’s. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan. Besarnya pengaruh model Children Learning In Science (CLIS) disajikan pada perhitungan Effect Size Cohen’s dengan kategori “Sedang”.Kata kunci: keterampilan berpikir kritis, model Children Learning in Science (CLIS), pembelajaran IPAAbstract
