Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

The Laman Minda Sihat program is a form of collaboration between Indonesian and Malaysian counselors in providing psychological support to students thru a horticultural therapy approach. This activity will be held at SK Bandar Puteri Jaya, Sungai Petani, Kedah, Malaysia on October 8, 2024, with the aim of improving students' psychological well-being thru activities that align with their interests and talents. This counselling service emphasizes a humanistic and reflective approach, where students are directly involved in planting their chosen plants as a form of therapy. The mentoring process is carried out in several stages, starting from observation, question-and-answer sessions with the counselor, plant selection, to self-reflection after the activity. This planting activity aims to help students express themselves, overcome negative emotions, and cultivate responsibility and self-confidence. The results of the activity show that using the Laman Minda Sihat website as a counselling medium is able to have a positive effect on students' behavioral changes, particularly in increasing learning motivation and reducing problematic behavior. This cross-country collaboration also strengthens the application of cross-cultural counselling principles and enriches counselling guidance practices in primary education settings. The horticultural therapy approach has proven effective in improving students' emotional, social, and psychological well-being thru a harmonious relationship with nature and the application of positive reinforcement in the counselling process.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and academic dishonesty among high school students. Self-efficacy refers to an individual’s belief in their ability to accomplish tasks and achieve specific goals. At the same time, academic dishonesty encompasses dishonest behaviors and violations of ethical standards in academic activities. This study employed a quantitative research method with a population of 346 students and a sample of 78 students selected using purposive sampling. The sample criteria in this study were students who had committed academic dishonesty as proven by screening results. Data were analyzed using Pearson’s product-moment correlation. The results indicated a correlation coefficient of -0.764 with a significance level of 0.000 (p < 0.05), demonstrating a significant negative relationship between self-efficacy and academic dishonesty. The coefficient of determination was 0.583, indicating that self-efficacy contributed 58.3% to the variance in academic dishonesty. Furthermore, a comparison between the hypothetical mean and the empirical mean revealed that students’ self-efficacy was relatively low, while the level of academic dishonesty was high. Therefore, the proposed hypothesis was accepted. Furthermore, based on the average score, the academic dishonesty score for male respondents was 50.76, while for female respondents it was 27.17. This indicates that the average academic dishonesty behavior was higher among male respondents than female respondents.

Abstract

Individuals with mild intellectual disability (MID) experience elevated rates of anxiety that adversely affect emotional well-being and social participation. Although Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is well-established for anxiety in the general population, evidence for its use with individuals with MID remains limited. This case series explored the feasibility and preliminary clinical outcomes of an adapted CBT intervention for anxiety in adolescents with MID. Four adolescents (aged 14 years) with clinically significant anxiety received seven sessions of CBT adapted through simplified language, visual supports, repetition, role-play, and caregiver involvement. Anxiety was assessed at pre-intervention, post-intervention, and follow-up using the Glasgow Anxiety Scale for People with an Intellectual Disability (GAS-ID). Individual change was evaluated using the Reliable Change Index (RCI). Qualitative data from participant worksheets and supporter interviews were analyzed thematically. All participants demonstrated reliable reductions in anxiety symptoms that were maintained at follow-up. Qualitative findings suggested improvements in emotional awareness, social participation, and coping skills. These findings indicate that adapted CBT may be feasible and potentially beneficial for adolescents with MID, warranting further evaluation in controlled studies.
