Abstract

High self-confidence and creative mathematical thinking skills will change students from having difficulty with mathematics to active learners who can solve mathematical problems. But the facts show that the achievement of both abilities is still quite low. The purpose of this research is to analyze how students' creative mathematical thinking skills are viewed from the perspective of self-confidence in social arithmetic material. Social arithmetic material is used because it allows them to abstract mathematical processes into their daily lives, thereby developing their creativity. The research method is descriptive qualitative. The sample was 3 people, namely 1 person for each level of self-confidence (high, medium, and low). They are selected through purposive sampling. The data collection techniques used include questionnaires, tests, interviews, and field notes. The data analysis techniques employed are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that students' self-confidence levels in social arithmetic material affect their creative mathematical thinking skills. It was found that students with high self-confidence were able to meet three indicators of creative mathematical thinking skills: fluency, flexibility, and elaboration. However, students with high self-confidence were not able to meet the originality indicator. Students with moderate self-confidence were able to meet one indicator of creative mathematical thinking skills, namely fluency, but were not able to meet the flexibility and elaboration indicators. Meanwhile, students with low self-confidence were not able to meet any indicators of creative mathematical thinking skills. Thus, self-confidence can be increased to improve mathematical creative thinking skills.

Abstract

Program pembelajaran matematika harus menekankan koneksi untuk mendorong pemahaman yang lebih dalam, sehingga siswa dapat mengenali dan menggunakan hubungan antara ide-ide matematika yang berbeda. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menganalisis kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa yang ditinjau dari kemandirian belajar pada materi segi empat. Kemampuan koneksi matematis merujuk pada kemampuan siswa untuk menghubungkan konsep-konsep matematika yang telah dipelajari dengan situasi atau masalah baru. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif yang melibatkan 32 siswa kelas VIII di SMP Negeri 5 Garut. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes kemampuan koneksi matematis dan angket kemandirian belajar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara kemandirian belajar siswa dengan kemampuan koneksi matematis pada materi segi empat. Siswa yang memiliki tingkat kemandirian belajar tinggi cenderung menunjukkan kemampuan koneksi matematis yang lebih baik. Oleh karena itu, kemandirian belajar berperan penting dalam meningkatkan kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa, sehingga perlu upaya untuk meningkatkan kemandirian belajar dalam pembelajaran matematika.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an interactive media based on Scratch that implements the Team Games Tournament (TGT) learning model on the topic of Algebraic Forms. The development process follows the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation), which involves five stages: needs analysis, media design, prototype development, implementation, and evaluation. However, due to the researcher's limitations, this study was only conducted up to the Development stage. The developed media was validated by four experts two in the field of mathematics education and two in instructional media engineering. The validation results indicated that the media developed is highly feasible for use in the learning process. Based on expert evaluations, the media is considered effective in enhancing students' understanding of algebraic form concepts and encouraging active interaction and group collaboration through the implementation of the TGT model. Therefore, this Scratch-based interactive media using the TGT model is suitable for supporting mathematics learning on the topic of Algebraic Forms.

Abstract

It is important to continue developing digital mathematics learning media. This research was conducted to develop learning media assisted by Google Sites on the material Systems of Linear Equations in Two Variables and to analyze the feasibility of this learning media. This research is descriptive research with the research and development method of the ADDIE model which consists of 5 stages, namely analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation. The subjects for this learning media trial were 39 students in class VIII of one of the private junior high schools in Garut Regency. Based on the research results, this media meets the criteria for validity and practicality as a learning media product. This is known from: (1) the validity of learning media, which is based on the results of an assessment of the validity of the media and material, showing valid results with revision, with a material achievement percentage of 92.7% and a media achievement percentage of 83.3%; (2) the practicality of learning media, as assessed from the student response questionnaire, obtained a percentage of 74.25%, indicating results that fall into the practical category.

Abstract

Penelitian ini didasarkan pada permasalahan rendahnya kemampuan komunikasi matematik siswa. Sebagai alternatif dari permasalahan tersebut, dilakukan penelitian dengan penerapan strategi think talk write dalam pembelajaran. Penelitian ini mengkaji pencapaian kemampuan komunikasi matematik siswa yang memperoleh strategi pembelajaran think talk write dengan pembelajaran konvensional. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuasi eksperimen dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa salah satu MTs swasta di Kabupaten Garut. Untuk sampel penelitiannya diambil dua kelas tingkat VII, satu kelas sebagai kelas kontrol dan satu kelas lainnya sebagai kelas eksperimen. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian berupa tes kemampuan komunikasi matematik. Analisis data dilakukan dengan uji statistik deskriptif dan inferensial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pencapaian kemampuan komunikasi matematik siswa yang memperoleh strategi pembelajaran think talk write lebih baik daripada siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran konvensional. This research is based on the issues of mathematical communication skills students lack. As an alternative to that problem, conducted research with the implementation of the strategy think talk write in the study. This research examines the achievements of mathematical communication skills students acquire learning strategies think talk write with conventional learning. This research was quasi experimental study by using purposive sampling technique. The population in this study are all the students one of MTs in Garut. The research sample is taken for two grade levels VII, one class as the control class and one other class as a experiment class. The instruments used in the study of mathematical communication ability tests. The data analysis done with test descriptive statistics and inferensial. The results showed that the achievement of mathematical communication skills students acquire learning strategies think talk write better than students who get conventional instruction.

Abstract

Pemahaman merupakan aspek fundamental serta kemampuan dasar untuk mencapai kemampuan matematis lainnya yang lebih tinggi. Setiap pembelajaran harus menyertakan hal pokok dari pemahaman. Untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman matematis harus difasilitasi oleh pembelajaran yang diberikan oleh guru, salah satunya adalah pembelajaran Inside-Outside-Circle. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menelaah perbandingan kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa antara yang menggunakan pembelajaran Inside-Outside-Circle dengan konvensional. Adapun populasi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas IX di salah satu Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) swasta di kabupaten Garut. Sedangkan sampelnya yaitu siswa kelas IX B dan IX C di sekolah tersebut. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berupa soal uraian yang diujikan pada saat pretest dan posttest. Data hasil tes tersebut kemudian dikenakan beberapa uji statistik yaitu uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, dan terakhir uji-t. Berdasarkan analisis data, dapat disimpulkan bahwa kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa yang menggunakan pembelajaran Inside-Outside-Circle lebih baik daripada konvensional. Understanding is a fundamental aspect as well as a basic ability to achieve other higher mathematical abilities. Every lesson should include the essentials of understanding. To improve the ability of mathematical understanding must be facilitated by the learning provided by the teacher, one of them is the Inside-Outside-Circle learning. This study aims to examine the comparison of students' mathematical comprehension skills between those using the conventional Inside-Outside-Circle learning. The population used in this study is the students of class IX in one of the private Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) in Garut district. While the sample is the students of class IX B and IX C at the school. The instrument used in this study is a description of the tested test at the time of pretest and posttest. Data test results are then subjected to several statistical tests namely normality test, homogeneity test, and last t-test. Based on data analysis, it can be concluded that students' mathematical understanding ability using Inside-Outside-Circle learning is better than conventional.

Abstract

Latar belakang penelitian ini yaitu permasalahan masih rendahnya kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis pada mahasiswa. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui efektifitas pembelajaran take and give dalam upaya mengembangkan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis pada mahasiswa. Adapun populasi dalam penelitian ini yaitu mahasiswa tingkat III pada salah satu perguruan tinggi swasta di kabupaten Garut, dengan sampel yaitu mahasiswa tingkat IIIA dan IIIB masing-masing sebanyak 22 orang. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini yaitu berupa tes kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis dalam bentuk pretest dan posttest. Analisis data yang dilakukan terhadap hasil pretest dan posttest yaitu diawali dengan uji normalitas, kemudian uji homogenitas dan uji-t. Hasil penelitian ini secara garis besar menunjukan bahwa terdapat perbedaan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis antara mahasiswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran take and give dan yang memperoleh pembelajaran ceramah biasa, dimana mahasiswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran take and give memperoleh hasil akhir kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis yang lebih baik daripada yang memperoleh pembelajaran ceramah biasa. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran take and give dapat secara efektif mengembangkan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis. The background of this research is based on the low level of student’s ability to understand mathematical concepts. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of learning and to develop the ability to understand mathematical concepts in students. The population in this study are third-grade students at one private college in Garut district, with a sample of students IIIA and IIIB. Instruments in this research test the ability to comprehend mathematical concepts in the form of pretest and posttest. Analysis of data conducted on the pretest and post-test results is started with the normality test, then the homogeneity test and t-test. The results of this study broadly indicate that there is a difference in the ability to understand mathematical concepts between students who receive learning take and give and who get the ordinary lecture learning, where students who get learning take and give gain the end of the ability to understand the concept of mathematical better than those who obtained ordinary lecture lessons. This suggests that take-and-give learning can effectively develop the ability to understand mathematical concepts.

Abstract

Latar belakang penelitian ini yaitu fakta bahwa kemampuan komunikasi matematik terbukti berperan strategis dalam berbagai kegiatan pembelajaran, termasuk matematika. Tetapi, pencapaiannya belum optimal. Penelitian ini diantaranya bertujuan menemukan sulusi untuk pengembangan kemampuan komunikasi dalam matematika melalui pembelajaran berbasis Take and Give di kalangan mahasiswa agar mempunyai kompetensi untuk berkomunikasi matematika dengan baik sebagai persiapan untuk menjadi guru. Metode kuasi eksperimen digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Adapun populasi yang dipilih yaitu mahasiswa prodi pendidikan matematika pada institut pendidikan swasta di Garut, dengan mahasiswa tingkat IIA dan IIB sebagai sampel dengan jumlah 50 mahasiswa. Penelitian menggunakan instrumen berbentuk tes uraian untuk pretest dan posttest. Dari hasil penelitian secara garis besar diketahui bahwa mahasiswa dengan pembelajaran Take and Give mempunyai kemampuan komunikasi matematik yang lebih baik daripada pembandingnya yaitu mahasiswa dengan pembelajaran ceramah biasa. Pembelejaran Take and give terbukti signifikan dalam mengembangkan kemampuan komunikasi matematik.

Abstract

Diperlukan upaya untuk meningkatkan pencapaian kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis yang masih rendah, misalnya menggunakan model pembelajaran tipe Think Pair Share. Tujuan penelitian yaitu mengetahui peningkatan dan seberapa jauh kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa dapat meningkat dengan model pembelajaran Think Pair Share. Metode penelitian yaitu kuasi eksperimen, dengan populasi siswa kelas VIII di satu SMP di Kabupaten Garut. Sampel yaitu kelas VIII-A sejumlah 33 siswa, dipilih berdasarkan teknik purposive sampling. Instrumen berupa soal tes uraian kemampuan pemecahan masalah diujikan sebelum dan sesudah pembelajaran. Hasil analisis data pada kelas Think Pair Share menunjukkan peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis berkategori sedang. Pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Think Pair Share terbukti cukup efektif meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa. Efforts are needed to improve the achievement of mathematical problem-solving abilities that are still low, for example using the Think Pair Share type of learning model. The purpose of this research is to find out how much improvement and how much the students' mathematical problem-solving ability increases through the Think Pair Share learning model. The research method is quasi-experimental, with a population of eighth grade students in one junior high school in Garut Regency. The sample is class VIII-A with 33 students, selected based on purposive sampling technique. Instruments in the form of test questions describing problem-solving abilities were tested before and after learning. The results of data analysis in the Think Pair Share class showed an increase in the ability to solve mathematical problems in the medium category. Cooperative learning Think Pair Share type proved effective enough to improve students' mathematical problem-solving abilities.
