This study investigated a strategy of reducing bullying in elementary school through “Guru Peduli” (“Teacher Care”) training. It was a training done for teachers. It aimed to increase teachers’ awareness, knowledge and skills to prevent and reduce bullying. The aim of this quasi-experimental research was to test the effectiveness of “Guru Peduli” training for reducing elementary school bullying. Two elementary schools were involved as the experimental and control groups. There were six classes were for class observation and six locations for playground observation. The observations were done before and after the training. The data were analyzed with Wilcoxon Signed-Rank and Mann-Whitney test. The data showed that there was a significant difference of bullying between the experimental and control schools. There was also a significant reduction of bullying in experimental school after the training. Keywords: bullying, “Guru Peduli” training, teachers’ knowledge

Covid-19 pandemic has not only threatened public physical health but also mental health. The mental health effects of this pandemic can include anxiety of contamination and death as well as feelings of isolation. Counseling has been proved as an effective method of supporting the physical and psychosocial needs of the individual affected. Technological advancement makes it possible for psychologists and clients to carry out counseling sessions without the needs of physical presence in one place by utilizing various modes of telecommunication. This form of counseling is known as telecounseling. As a relatively new form of counseling in Indonesia, numerous aspects need to be considered in implementing telecounseling. This article aims to explore the considerations taken in conducting telecounseling sessions in Indonesia. Their opportunities and challenges which might not be present in an offline face-to face counseling will also be discussed. Psychologists need to develop both practical and technical competencies to be able to provide adequate telecounseling services. Suggestions for development are also given to other relevant parties such as psychological service institutions, professional associations, and education providers.

The phenomenon of underage driving closely related to parental consent. This study aimed to describe the dynamics of mothers of junior high school students in giving riding permits to their children. Using the explanatory sequential mixed methods (QUAN-qual), this study was carried out in three phases. Phase 1 was a quantitative study using an online questionnaire, with a total of 496 participants. Data analysis used chi square and Odds Ratio. Phase 2 is a qualitative study. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with three mothers of junior high school students. The results of the interviews were analyzed using thematic analysis. Meanwhile, phase 3 was data integration using joint displays. The findings show that the child’s age is the basis for the mother’s consideration in making the decision to allow the child to drive. In making her decision, the mother primarily considers her husband’s approval, as well as her perception of the benefits, risks, and traffic violations. Environmental and household characteristics play a role in shaping the mother's perception. This study needs to be followed up with the development of parent-based interventions.

Tujuan dari artikel ini adalah memberikan gambaran tentang perkembangan riset dan publikasi mengenai psikologi kebangsaan di Indonesia. Materi penelitian diambil dari berbagai publikasi ilmiah yang membahas topik tersebut. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa publikasi tentang psikologi kebangsaan mulai muncul pada awal 1990-an, meningkat pada awal milenium kedua, dan berkembang pesat selama satu dekade terakhir. Beberapa topik yang dominan diteliti meliputi nasionalisme, identitas nasional, multikulturalisme, ke-Pancasila-an, dan pengembangan alat ukur psikologis. Beberapa peneliti secara konsisten meneliti topik spesifik tentang psikologi kebangsaan, tetapi sejauh ini, belum banyak peneliti bekerja sama dengan peneliti dari bidang ilmu lain. Untuk mengembangkan penelitian ini, diperlukan upaya untuk memperluas jangkauan topik yang diteliti dan menggunakan metode penelitian yang lebih inovatif. Selain itu, penting untuk melakukan penelitian lintas disiplin keilmuan.

Stres merupakan reaksi yang perlu dikelola agar tidak memberikan dampak psikologis yang berat pada individu. Berbagai studi telah dilakukan untuk menemukan cara intervensi meningkatkan koping stres. Multiple Stress Management Intervention (MSMI) merupakan suatu desain intervensi kelompok yang telah dikembangkan untuk mahasiswa di Iran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas MSMI pada mahasiswa Indonesia. Penelitian dilakukan dengan desain single-case dan melibatkan enam mahasiswa (usia rata-rata = 19,8). Screening awal dilakukan untuk mengetahui kondisi pra-intervensi, kemudian intervensi pelatihan sebanyak 6 sesi diberikan untuk menguji perubahan kondisi partisipan (A-B-A’). Coping Response Inventory diberikan untuk mengukur tingkat koping stres partisipan sebelum, saat, dan setelah intervensi. Studi ini menunjukkan efektivitas intervensi terhadap coping stres mahasiswa. Implikasi studi ini terhadap pengembangan MSMI didiskusikan lebih lanjut dalam penelitian ini.

Background: Mental disorders can affect people of any age, including teenagers of school age, which can disrupt their productivity and quality of life if not managed properly. There is growing evidence that nutrition is vital in mental health, which helps manage mental disorders. Simple interventions for mental disorders among teenagers through health promotion, education, and nutritional interventions are needed to prevent mental disorders or provide early treatment for those in need.Objective: Our project aimed to train counseling teachers and students of senior high schools in Yogyakarta to have the capability of performing simple management of mental disorders and promoting a healthy nutritional status.Methods: Our project consisted of three phases; phase I (webinar and workshop), phase II (practice and implementation at schools), and phase III (monitoring and evaluation). We used pre- and post-tests to assess respondents’ knowledge and questionnaires to assess their perceptions of the project.Results: Twenty counseling teachers and forty students from 20 senior high schools in Yogyakarta participated in this project. Our project slightly improved students' knowledge of the importance of nutrition and mental health but not the teachers’ knowledge. All participants welcomed our project positively. Most participants agreed they learned new and important information and stated that the project helped combat nutritional problems and mental disorders.Conclusion: Our project was perceived positively and improved participants’ skills and knowledge of nutrition and mental health issues. This suggests that the project has empowered them to perform basic management of nutritional problems and mental disorders among teenagers at their schools. Additionally, more projects are still needed to widen and maximize the coverage of these important topics.
Perceived Social Support as Predictor of Acculturative Stress Among Indonesian Exchange Students in Europe

Participating in international student exchange programs offers valuable experiences during higher education. However, adjusting to numerous changes can lead to acculturative stress. Previous research has highlighted the importance of perceived social support in reducing acculturative stress. This study aimed to explore whether perceived social support could predict acculturative stress among Indonesian exchange students in Europe, using a quantitative approach. The ASSIS (Acculturative Stress Scale for International Students) and the ISSS (Index of Sojourner Social Support) were used as data collection tools. The sampling technique used in this research was a non-random sampling technique-accidental sampling technique. Participants were Indonesian exchange students in Europe (N = 119) with the age range of 21-24 (x̄ = 21). Results showed that 74.79% of the students had high levels of perceived social support, and 63.02% of them had low levels of acculturative stress. Linear regression analysis proved that perceived social support could significantly predict 8.86% of students’ acculturative stress. Additionally, no significant difference was found between gender in both acculturative stress (p= .356) and perceived social support (p=.280). Broadening social networks during the exchange program period would prevent students from experiencing high levels of acculturative stress. Berpartisipasi dalam program pertukaran pelajar internasional menawarkan pengalaman berharga selama pendidikan tinggi. Namun, penyesuaian terhadap berbagai perubahan dapat menimbulkan stres akulturatif. Penelitian sebelumnya telah menyoroti pentingnya persepsi dukungan sosial dalam mengurangi stres akulturatif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi apakah dukungan sosial yang dirasakan dapat memprediksi stres akulturatif pada pelajar pertukaran Indonesia di Eropa, dengan menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif. ASSIS (Acculturative Stress Scale for International Students) dan ISSS (Index of Sojourner Social Support) digunakan sebagai alat pengumpulan data. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah teknik non random sampling-teknik accidental sampling. Pesertanya adalah pelajar pertukaran Indonesia di Eropa (N = 119) dengan rentang usia 21-24 tahun (x̄ = 21). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 74,79% siswa memiliki tingkat persepsi dukungan sosial yang tinggi, dan 63,02% di antaranya memiliki tingkat stres akulturatif yang rendah.

Anak dengan disabilitas intelektual memiliki permasalahan membaca yang perlu diperhatikan dan ditangani secara efektif. Oleh sebab itu, perlu adanya intervensi untuk membantu anak disabilitas intelektual meningkatkan kelancaran membaca. Teknik repeated reading sering direkomendasikan karena dilinilai mampu meningkatkan kelancaran membaca. Penelitian ini bertujuan menguji efektivitas teknik repeated reading pada anak disabilitas intelektual untuk meningkatkan kelancaran membaca. Asesmen dilakukan pada seorang anak disabilitas intelektual kelas 3 SD melalui observasi, wawancara, dan tes psikologi di rumah dan di sekolah. Hasil intervensi yang dilakukan selama 15 hari berturut-turut sebanyak 15 sesi dengan durasi 60 menit setiap sesi menunjukkan peningkatan kelancaran membaca pada anak disabilitas intelektual. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat dicoba pada partisipan dengan karakteristik lain, misalnya pada anak dengan disleksia atau anak usia prasekolah dengan perkembangan normal yang masih membutuhkan bantuan untuk membaca dengan lancar.

Emotional and behavioral problems are likely to emerge in early adolescents as they are considered emotionally immature and highly susceptible to changes in their social environment. This study aims to examine the role of self-control and school connectedness in adolescent emotional and behavioral problems. The research hypothesis is that self-control and connectedness to school together play a role in adolescents' emotional and behavioral problems. Research uses a quantitative method with a purposive sampling technique, involving 171 respondents aged 12-14 years who are at the junior high school level. Measurements were carried out using three scales: The Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) with a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.760, the self-control scale with a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.739, and the Student Connectedness Questionnaire (SCQ) with a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.891. The data were analyzed using multiple regression analysis with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that self-control and school connectedness contribute to emotional and behavioral problems with an effective contribution of 23.8%, while 76.2% are other factors that were not studied.

Banyak data menunjukkan bahwa anak-anak Indonesia tumbuh tanpa sosok ayah yang terlibat dalam pengasuhan. Padahal, peran ayah dalam pengasuhan anak dinilai memiliki dampak luar biasa pada tumbuh-kembang anak. Dengan melibatkan tiga ayah baru yang memiliki anak usia 0-3 tahun, penelitian ini bertujuan mengeksplorasi persepsi dan keterlibatan mereka dalam pengasuhan serta dinamikanya dalam melalui masa transisi selama menjadi ayah baru. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif-fenomenologis, data dikumpulkan dengan photo-elicitation interview (PEI), lalu dianalisis menggunakan interpretative phenomenlogical analysis (IPA). Dari proses penelitian dan analisis data didapatkan bahwa ayah baru mengalami banyak perasaan yang silih berganti, proses penyesuaian diri yang melibatkan banyak aspek. Menjadi ayah baru adalah proses transisi yang cukup berat, tetapi karena didukung banyak faktor, proses tersebut menjadi lebih bermakna untuk dilalui dan memberikan banyak pembelajaran. Para ayah cenderung bersyukur bisa mendapatkan kesempatan dan dipercayai oleh Yang Mahakuasa untuk menjadi ayah.
