Abstract

Introduction/Main Objectives: This study was conducted to determine the effect of processed rubber production (X1), world rubber prices (X2), and exchange rates (X3) on the value of Jambi Province rubber exports (Y). The data in this study are secondary data sourced from the Jambi Central Statistics Agency for the period 2011-2021. Background Problems: The role of rubber exports is quite crucial for the economy of Jambi Province, apart from being a source of income, rubber exports also act as a promoter of regional development so that it is possible to create downstream effects for economic activities, especially the development of downstream industries. Research Methods: Several statistical tests were carried out, namely developmental analysis and regression analysis, to determine the effect of the independent variable on the dependent variable. Finding/Results: The research found that the world rubber price significantly impacted the value of rubber exports. In contrast, the production of processed rubber and the exchange rate had no significant effect on the value of rubber exports. However, simultaneous calculation results show that the production of processed rubber, world rubber prices, and the exchange rate significantly impact Jambi's rubber exports. Conclusion: From the analysis of the coefficient of determination, 82% of Jambi Province's rubber exports are influenced by processed rubber production, world rubber prices, and exchange rates, and other variables that influence the remaining 18%.

Abstract

The negative effects of the Covid-19 pandemic have been felt by international trade players in Indonesia. The coronavirus outbreak that spread at the end of 2019 has hit economic activities including foreign investment in the health and social work sector in Indonesia. Decreased investment will lead to reduced employment and encourage increased unemployment in Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to determine whether there are differences in exchange rates and foreign investment in the health sector and social workers before the pandemic with during the covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia. This research method uses quantitative research, using secondary data obtained from BPS and Bank Indonesia publications. The data used is cross-time data, namely 2017-2019 and 2020-2022. The data analysis method uses the Paired Sample Test. The results showed that the value of foreign investment in the health and social work sector had no significant difference between the 3-year period before the Covid-19 pandemic and the 3-year period during the Covid-19 pandemic. The average growth of investment in the pre-pandemic period was 74.42 per cent, which was greater than during the pandemic period, which was 34.75 per cent. The exchange rate of the rupiah against the U$ dollar has a significant difference between the 3-year period before the Covid-19 pandemic and the 3-year period of the Covid-19 pandemic. The average exchange rate of the rupiah during the pre-pandemic period was IDR 13,919, this was lower than during the pandemic which was IDR 14,538.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) on poverty in Jambi Province by examining the mediating role of the open unemployment rate. The minimum wage is a policy instrument used to enhance public welfare by increasing workers' income. However, in practice, increases in the UMP do not always lead to a direct reduction in poverty, particularly when labor market dynamics do not support wage policy impacts. From 2014 to 2023, the UMP in Jambi Province rose from IDR 1,502,230 to IDR 2,943,033. Nevertheless, poverty rates fluctuated, peaking in 2020 at 288,100 people and declining to 280,680 in 2023. These fluctuations suggest that the rise in the minimum wage has not produced a consistent effect on poverty reduction State the problem or phenomena studied in this paper and specify the research question(s) in one sentence. This study uses a quantitative approach and employs mediation analysis with the help of SPSS software. The results show that the UMP has a significant negative effect on open unemployment (β = –0.0005; p = 0.012), and open unemployment significantly increases poverty (β = 5.700; p = 0.031). The direct effect of UMP on poverty becomes insignificant when mediated by unemployment (β = 0.0025; p = 0.082). The indirect effect is statistically significant (–0.00285; 95% CI [–0.0051, –0.0009]). Open unemployment fully mediates the relationship between UMP and poverty. Therefore, the effectiveness of UMP policy in reducing poverty highly depends on the government's success in creating sufficient employment opportunities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) and Regional Expenditure on Regional Original Revenue (PAD) in Jambi City during the 2015–2024 period. PAD is a crucial indicator in assessing the fiscal independence of a region within the context of regional autonomy. By employing a quantitative approach through multiple linear regression analysis, this research examines both the simultaneous and partial relationships between the independent variables (GRDP and Regional Expenditure) and the dependent variable (PAD). The F-test results show that the regression model is statistically significant at the simultaneous level, with an F value of 15.067 and a significance level of 0.003 (p < 0.05). This indicates that GRDP and Regional Expenditure jointly have a significant effect on PAD. The model also has a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.811, implying that 81.1% of the variation in PAD can be explained by the two variables. However, the t-test results reveal that only GRDP has a significant partial effect on PAD (p = 0.014), while Regional Expenditure does not show a significant influence (p = 0.632). Conclusion: These findings highlight the importance of regional economic growth in enhancing PAD and underscore the need to evaluate the effectiveness of Regional Expenditure in contributing to local revenue. The policy implication is that local governments should strengthen productive economic sectors that drive GRDP and allocate regional spending to activities with a direct impact on revenue generation. This approach is essential to achieving sustainable regional fiscal independence.

Abstract

The green economy plays a crucial role in promoting sustainable economic growth by integrating environmental sustainability with economic development. This study examines the impact of green economy initiatives on Indonesia’s economic growth, highlighting key factors such as green investments, technological innovation, and government policies. Using a quantitative approach, this research analyzes data from various economic sectors to assess the effectiveness of green economic practices in driving sustainable development. The findings indicate that green investments and technological advancements significantly contribute to economic growth, while government policies serve as a crucial moderator in accelerating green economic transformation. However, several challenges remain, including high implementation costs, limited infrastructure, and a lack of public awareness regarding the long-term benefits of green practices. To overcome these challenges, collaboration between the government, private sector, and society is essential. Strengthening regulations, providing financial incentives, and increasing education on sustainability are key to enhancing Indonesia’s transition toward a greener economy. This study contributes to the growing literature on green economy implementation in developing countries and provides policy recommendations for improving sustainability-driven economic growth. Further research is needed to explore the long-term effects of green economic policies in specific industries and their comparative impact across different countries.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of global uncertainty on Indonesia's economic stability in the period 2020-2025. Global uncertainty triggered by various external factors such as the global health crisis (covid-19 pandemic), commodity price fluctuations, changes in international trade policies, and geopolitical tensions, can have a significant impact on the economies of developing countries such as Indonesia. This study examines how global uncertainty affects Indonesia's key economic indicators, including economic growth, inflation, the rupiah exchange rate, and foreign investment flows. The method used in this study is econometric analysis with multiple linear regression model, which involves secondary data from various official sources such as Bank Indonesia, Central Bureau of Statistics, and international institutions. The results of this study are expected to provide a clearer picture of the extent to which global uncertainty affects Indonesia's economic stability and what economic policies need to be taken by the government to maintain economic stability in the face of external threats. In addition, the study will also identify sectors of the economy that are more vulnerable to the impact of global uncertainty and provide policy recommendations that can strengthen Indonesia's economic resilience.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between Islamic investment and macroeconomic growth in Indonesia using a qualitative approach through an exploratory descriptive design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with academics, Islamic finance practitioners, regulators, and economic observers, supplemented by documentation studies from various official sources such as the Financial Services Authority (OJK), Statistics Indonesia (BPS), and Bank Indonesia. The results indicate that Islamic investment contributes positively to driving macroeconomic growth, particularly through financing the real sector and infrastructure development supported by sovereign sukuk instruments. The application of Islamic principles based on ethics, fairness, and the prohibition of usury contributes to creating a sustainable and inclusive investment ecosystem. Islamic investment also has a multiplier effect on the economy by strengthening MSMEs, creating jobs, and improving public welfare. However, the development of Islamic investment still faces several challenges, such as low levels of public literacy regarding Islamic finance, limited investment product variety, and the need for regulations that are more adaptive to global market dynamics. Therefore, closer synergy is needed between the government, regulators, industry players, and academics to strengthen the sharia investment ecosystem and optimize its role in inclusive and sustainable national economic development.
