Abstract

Urinary tract infection ( un ) is a pathological condition that is often encountered and marked with urinesediment results indicate nitrite, leucocytes and positive bacteria. In some hospitals, inpatient specimendelivery is often delayed, causing delayed examination. Urine samples should be examined, therefore itis kept at room temperature, lysis of erythrocytes and leukocytes and urine will turn into alkaline. Thisstudy aims to prove how much the influence of the long treatment of urinary tract infection to the numberof leukocytes and erythrocytes urine sediment . "This type of research is quantitative analysis " todetermine the number of leukocytes and erythrocytes urine sediment urinary tract infection sufferers whoimmediately performed ( 0 hours) , stored for 2 hours, 3 hours and 4 hours using SY ( standard yield) .The results of the examination number of leukocytes to the 20 sediment samples with immediate unpatients obtained an average of 59 cells / mL , after the delay of 2 hours earned the average of 35 cells /mL, 3 hours on the average of 18 cells / mL and 4 hours obtained an average of 12 cells / uL. The resultsof the examination of erythrocyte sediment amount to ISK 20 patient samples obtained immediatelyperformed the average of 20 cells / mL , after the delay of 2 hours earned the average of 14 cells / mL , 3hours on the average of 9 cells / mL and 4 hours obtained the average of 6 cells / mL . From the Post Hoctest results obtained three treatment groups proved no longer influence to urinary tract infections.suspension 0 hour, 2 hours, and 3 hours to the number of leukocytes and erythrocytes urine sediment. There is no longer influence to urinary tract infections suspension 3 hours and 4 hours on the number ofleukocytes and erythrocytes urine sediment.Key words: ISK, Sedimen urtn, /eukocit dan erithrocit.

Abstract

Background: Sepsis can affect all age, but is most common in young infants and neonates. Young infants and neonates are more susceptible to infection because their immune systems are immature, unable to localize infections, and lack the IgM needed to protect the body against bacterial infections. When experiencing neonatal sepsis, there is often an increase in leukocytes in response to infection and inflammation, where inflammation can also cause a decrease in albumin in the blood. Objective: This study aims to analyze the relationship between albumin levels and leukocyte counts in the incidence of neonatal sepsis. Methods: The research method used analytic correlation with a cross sectional approach. A sample of 31 patients with neonatal sepsis who were treated at Waluyo Jati hospital, Probolinggo Regency in December 2022 - April 2023 were sampled using saturation sampling method. Results: The results of the study on neonatal sepsis based on laboratory examinations mostly occurred in conditions of leukocytosis (45.2%) and hypoalbuminemia (77.4%), while the results of the study based on Pearson correlation test analysis obtained a significant value (p) of 0.737 (α=0.05). Conclusion: there is no relationship between albumin levels and leukocyte counts in neonatal sepsis.

Abstract

Currently, the percentage of the elderly population in Indonesia has increased much higher than in previous years. As people age, their immune system decreases and they are more likely to be affected by diabetes mellitus. In Indonesia, diabetes mellitus currently ranks as the third most prevalent cause of mortality following cardiovascular disease. Diabetes mellitus is closely associated with blood glucose levels. People with high blood glucose levels have a tendency to be overweight or obese. The increasing prevalence of diabetes mellitus in the elderly, it will have an impact on hampering the development of the country. To improve the quality and life expectancy in the elderly, preventive measures are needed to increase excess glucose levels in the body. From these problems, community service activities were conducted in the form of health checks on nutritional status and blood glucose in elderly participants. The activity took place at the Abiyoso Integrated service post Polkesbaya on May 3, 2023. From the results of the examination, it was found that most of the elderly participants who participated in the activity had excess nutritional status but had normal blood glucose in the body. From this it can be concluded that high blood glucose levels in the body are not always determined by a person's nutritional status, but also lifestyle, and diet.

Abstract

Control materials are used to maintain the accuracy of testing procedures and the quality of laboratory results. However, commercial control materials are often considered less economical, so an alternative is needed, namely lyophilized human serum. Sigma metric helps improve laboratory operational costs efficiency through control settings and Westgard rule recommendations involving the Total Error Allowable (TEa) value, bias value (d%), and coefficient of variation (CV%). This study aims to determine the quality of commercial control materials and homemade lyophilized materials for blood glucose, uric acid, total cholesterol, and triglyceride parameters based on sigma values. This study used a comparative cross-sectional design. The samples included commercial control materials from one of the primary-level laboratories in Bangkalan District and homemade lyophilized samples from human serum collections. Data Analysis was conducted by statistically comparing the bias value and descriptively comparing the sigma value of commercial control material and homemade lyophilized. The results showed no significant difference in bias value between commercial control material and homemade lyophilized material for all parameters (significance value > α 0,05). The sigma values of commercial control material for blood glucose, uric acid, total cholesterol, and triglyceride parameters were 2.81 (poor), 2.41 (poor), 3.10 (marginal), and 2.14 (poor). The sigma values of the homemade lyophilized were 2.12 (poor), 1.76 (unacceptable), 3.36 (marginal), and 2.08 (poor). Based on the sigma values, the homemade lyophilized material was better for total cholesterol parameters, while the commercial control material was better for blood glucose, uric acid, and triglyceride parameters. It can be concluded that homemade lyophilized can be used as an alternative to commercial control materials, especially for total cholesterol parameters. These findings support the cost efficiency of laboratory operations through the development of more economical homemade lyophilized products that are suitable for use in laboratories.
