Abstract

Stunting merupakan suatu kondisi dimana anak mengalami gangguan pertumbuhan, sehingga tinggi badan anak tidak sesuai dengan usianya, sebagai akibat dari masalah gizi kronis yaitu kekurangan asupan gizi dalam waktu yang lama. Stunting berdampak negatif terhadap kecerdasan anak dan meningkatkan risiko penyakit tidak menular pada anak, seperti diabetes mellitus, kanker, dan penyakit jantung koroner pada saat dewasa nantinya. Stunting dapat dicegah dengan dengan berbagai strategi yaitu intervensi gizi spesifik (kecukupan asupan makanan dan gizi, pola asuh, dan pengobatan infeksi/penyakit) dan gizi sensitif (akses pangan bergizi; akses pengasuhan gizi ibu dan anak; akses dan kualitas pelayanan gizi dan kesehatan; dan penyediaan air bersih dan sarana sanitasi). Pelaksanaan intervensi gizi spesifik dan sensitif ini sebaiknya secara terpadu. Pengalaman global menunjukkan bahwa menerapkan tindakan terpadu untuk menargetkan kelompok prioritas di area prioritas merupakan kunci keberhasilan dalam meningkatkan gizi anak, pertumbuhan dan perkembangan, serta mencegah stunting. Namun, di wilayah kelurahan Kalisegoro pengetahuan ibu-ibu PKK tentang pemenuhan gizi seimbang masih rendah. Hal ini disebabkan oleh kurangnya edukasi terkait makanan gizi seimbang untuk mencegah stunting. Berdasarkan gambaran dari potret permasalahan yang dihadapi mitra, maka dilakukan kegiatan Pelatihan tentang makanan bergizi untuk anak pra sekolah dengan memanfaatkan bahan pangan lokal daun kelor, cara pengolahan menjadi berbagai produk makanan untuk anak pra sekolah yang benar oleh Tim pengabdian Unnes dengan sasaran Ibu-ibu PKK. Pada tahap awal telah dilakukan pertemuan dengan ibu Ika Setyowati selaku ketua PKK dan sosialisasi pada ibu PKK tentang rencana kegiatan pengabdian dan penyuluhan tentang makanan gizi seimbang. Tahap selanjutnya adalah pelatihan cara pengolahan bahan pangan lokal menjadi berbagai aneka produk makanan seperti : 1) Dimsum daun kelor, 2) Poding kelor, dan 3) Nugget ikan dan daun kelor. Luaran kegiatan pengabdian ini antara lain publikasi pada jurnal Karya Abdi Masyarakat Penerbit LPPM Universitas Jambi dengan judul artikel “Pemberdayaan Ibu-Ibu PKK Dalam Pemenuhan Gizi Bagi Anak Pra Sekolah Sebagai Upaya Pencegahan  Stunting Di Kelurahan Kalisegoro” serta publikasi pada media online lokal Suara Merdeka, serta media online web MIPA, dan video kegiatan.

Abstract

Background: The purpose of bioremediation is to remove or reduce dangerous compounds to improve environmental quality, one of which is heavy metals. Metal-binding proteins can minimize the impact of heavy metal pollution from the environment. This metal binding protein can accumulate metals by microorganisms. One of the known metal-binding proteins is metallothioneins (MTs). This protein can minimize the effects of heavy metals in the environment by creating protein-metal ion complex bonds. This review article provides a comprehensive insight into the role of metallothionein as a metal-binding protein for heavy metal accumulation, and the mechanisms involved in heavy metal bioremediation Methods: The method used is a literature review using reputable national and international journals. Results: Based on the results of a literature review, metallothionein can be found in many organisms such as bacteria, humans, plants, invertebrates, and mammals. Metallothionein can accumulate heavy metals that contain highly conserved cysteine residues. These residues allow MTs to bind, transport, and store various essential (Zn and Cu) and non-essential (Cd and Hg) heavy metals via thiolate bonding. Conclusion: Heavy metals are dangerous for the survival of living things and can cause damage to vital functions. One of the metal-binding proteins is metallothionein, which is involved in the organism's tolerance to heavy metal content and can accumulate it, so that the effects of heavy metals can be minimized.

Abstract

Background: Environmental DNA (eDNA) metabarcoding is a new method for assessing biodiversity in which samples are taken from the environment via water, sediment or air from which DNA is extracted, and then amplified using common or universal primers in a polymerase chain reaction and sequenced using next-generation DNA. sequencing to produce thousands to millions of sequences. From this data, the presence of species can be determined, and overall biodiversity can be assessed.. Methods: The method used is a literature review using reputable national and international journals Results: Based on the results of the literature review, the use of eDNA metabarcoding can be used to analyze fish biodiversity. eDNA metabarcoding can be analyzed with primary data, databases, and bioinformatic pipelines. Conclusion: eDNA metabarcoding has been widely used to study fish communities in lakes and rivers, as well as coastal fish communities. Despite its considerable ability to detect fish species in large aquatic systems, many methods still need to be understood to improve the quality of primers, databases, and pipelines for analyzing fish biodiversity

Abstract

Background: The biodiversity of citrus plants is very abundant and many are cultivated, creating various types. However, the high demand makes orange farmers feel overwhelmed. This is what causes some orange cultivars to become rare. Characterization of the genetic diversity of citrus germplasm at the molecular level is an important and crucial step that can assist in the breeding and conservation process. The aim of this literature review is to provide information regarding molecular markers regarding the application of SSR molecular markers to analyze the genetic diversity of citrus. Method: The method used is a systematic literature review with the literature sources used coming from articles taken from national journals and international journals indexed by Scopus. Results: The application of molecular markers using the SSR method is useful for identifying and characterizing the genetic diversity of citrus germplasm so that it can assist in breeding and conservation actions. SSR has many advantages both in terms of its use and the results obtained. Conclusion: One application of molecular markers is to analyze plant genetic diversity. Simple Sequence Repeat (SSR) molecular markers can help to analyze the characteristics and genetic diversity of oranges so that they can assist in plant breeding and conservation purposes.

Abstract

Background: The development of edible fruit quality is a vital process. Banana fruit ripening is a complex biochemical and physiological process that causes physical changes such as softening. Fruit aging and ripening are greatly influenced by transcriptional regulation. Transcription factors also play an essential role in regulating various biological processes. Therefore, this study aimed to explore information about the role of transcription factors in banana fruit ripening. Methods: A systematic review was conducted by searching the Scopus database indexed Q1-Q4 through the Watase UAKE application from 2018 to 2023 to find relevant studies on the role of transcription factors in banana fruit ripening. Results: From the search results, 157 articles were found, which were then narrowed down to 11 articles by considering the established inclusion criteria. This study identified 11 transcription factors that have the potential for fruit ripening. Conclusions: The findings of this article review indicate that there are transcription factors, namely MYB, MaWRKY49, MabHLH7, MaNAC42, MaMADS36, bZIP21, MaMYB3, MabHLH, MaERF012, NAC, and WRKY. The role of transcription factors can control fruit quality in agricultural commodities that play genetics in molecular biology. These findings indicate that knowledge of the role of transcription factors can provide insight into the development of innovations in agriculture in the future.

Abstract

Organic waste is the type of waste that has the largest amount in Indonesia. If not managed properly, the organic waste can cause various kinds problem. One of the technologies to overcome this is by means composting using Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae. BSF larvae (maggot) has a better decomposition ability compared to organisms as well as other microorganisms. The aims of this research is to determine the most effective substarte that can affect the growth of black soldier larvae and the speed of bioconversion. This research is a quantitative descriptive study with an expreslanatory design. The study uses two variables (independent and dependent). Independent variables in this study are feeding frequency and type of organic waste as substrate. The dependent variables in this study are the speed ofbioconversion and the growth of black soldier larvae. The instruments used in this study are experiment research. The primary Data was obtained from 8 different composition and kind of organic waste. The analysis used is univariate analysis of variance using the SPSS 25.0 application. Results showed that restaurant waste is the most effective waste for reduction by black soldier fly larvae because it produces larvae with the best growth and the highest bioconversion rate among other waste.

Abstract

Alphitobius diaperinus is a well-known insect pest in broiler farms. Larvae and adults of A. diaperinus act as disease vectors for poultry, and their presence has the potential to increase the risk of carcass contamination in slaughterhouses. Chemical insecticide control is still considered ineffective and environmentally unfriendly. Plant-based insecticide formulations offer a more environmentally friendly approach to pest control compared to chemical insecticides. The ethanol extract of Gamal leaves was tested on the darkling beetle A. diaperinus to determine its insecticidal activity. Five pairs of A. diaperinus were treated at five levels of extract concentration and then maintained in an insect container with wheat bran (pollard) food for 5 weeks. The insecticidal efficacy was measured based on the difference in mortality in the toxicity test and the reproductive ability of adult A. diaperinus by counting the number of larvae produced during the rearing period. The results showed that differences in extract concentrations significantly affected toxicity and the number of larvae produced. The more concentrated the extract, the higher the insect mortality, with the estimated LC50 value of the extract being 20.80% concentration within 72 hours. Reproductive ability showed that the higher the concentration of the extract, causing a decrease in the number of larvae produced, with the optimum concentration found in the 80% treatment. Thus, Gamal leaf extract has potential as a botanical insecticide for biological control of A. diaperinus pest.

Abstract

Ikan Pari memiliki karakter biologi yaitu fekunditas rendah, usia matang seksual lama, dan pertumbuhan lambat. Penelitian mengenai kajian aspek biologi dan status konservasi jenis-jenis ikan pari yang diperdagangkan di TPI Pantai Utara Jawa Tengah penting dilakukan mengingat semakian tingginya tingkat perdagangan, sehingga dikhawatirkan akan menghadapi kepunahan apabila tidak ada pengelolaan berbasis konservasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji aspek biologi dan statuskonservasi jenis-jenis ikan pari yang diperdagangkan di TPI Pantai Utara Jawa Tengah. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif eksploratif. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan cara purposive sampling. Berdasarkan hasil identifikasi ikan pari yang diperdagangkan terdiri dari 10 jenis, yaitu D. kuhlii, H. undulata, H. gerrardi, H. jenkinsii, P. sephen, T. meyeni, G. poecilura, R. ancylostoma, dan R. australiae. Berdasarkan penelitian aspek biologi tiap jenis ikan pari memiliki ciri karakteristik. Berdasarkan ciri tersebut, H. undulata dan H. gerrardi memiliki hubungan kekerabatan terdekat. Rasio kelamin paling ideal dijumpai pada D. kuhlii, H. gerrardi, H. jenkinsii, dan G. poecilura. Ikan pari yang didaratkan umumnya belum dewasa. Berdasarkan analisis status konservasi, 3 spesies termasuk kategori Critically endangered, 4 spesies termasuk kategori vulnerable, 2 spesies termasuk kategori near threatened, 1 spesies termasuk kategori data deficient. Berdasarkan tatus perdagangan CITES, 3 spesies yang termasuk kategori Appendix II dan 7 spesies lain belum dievaluasi.

Abstract

Kelelawar merupakan mamalia yang dapat terbang yang berasal dari ordo Chiroptera dengan kedua kaki depan yang berkembang menjadi sayap. Jenis-jenis spesies kelelawar mewakili sekitar 24% dari semua spesies mamalia. Kecamatan Gunungwungkal mempunyai potensi sumber daya alam dengan banyaknya pohon buah. Masyarakat pada umumnya menganggap kelelawar sebagai hama karena memakan buah-buahan dari tanaman budidaya perkebunan, sehingga banyak perburuan kelelawar. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi jenis-jenis kelelawar pemakan buah Subordo Megachiroptera dan sebaran spasial di Kecamatan Gunungwungkal Kabupaten Pati. Sampel kelelawar buah diambil 3 titik yaitu Desa Pesagen, Sidomulyo, dan Jrahi. Setiap titik pengambilan sampel masing-masing dipasangi 3 mistnet. Sampel diambil berdasarkan karakter masing-masing titik dari beberapa macam pohon buah yang diperkirakan terdapat jenis-jenis kelelawar buah. Kelelawar buah Subordo Megachiroptera yang tertangkap sebanyak 419. Jumlah total Cynopterus minutus sebanyak 260 ekor sedangkan Macroglossus minimus sebanyak 159 ekor. Sebaran spasial Cynopterus minutus ditemukan paling banyak di Desa Pesagen karena mempunyai lebih banyak kebun buah rambutan, kelengkeng, matoa, sawo manila. Macroglossus minimus ditemukan paling banyak di Desa Jrahi karena terdapat kebun pisang yang lebih banyak.
