Abstract

This article presents the outcomes of empirical investigations employing Conversation Analysis (CA) to analyse classroom interaction, which is based on a review of 20 academic papers. In this review, we describe (1) Conversational analysis in classroom interactions, (2) Classroom interaction problems discovered through conversational analysis, and (3) Pedagogical implications of conversational analysis in teacher training through reflective practice. Findings show that by analyzing the studies of conversation analysis in classroom interaction, the researchers tried to figure out the pattern of interaction in several aspects such as verbal and nonverbal interaction, turn-taking, repair management, and adjacency pairs. They also used conversation analysis to look at a problem that happened in classroom interaction. In addition, conversation analysis is used in a reflective practice with pedagogical consequences in teacher education. This review adds to our understanding of CA while also providing important information for those who want to use it to better understanding of classroom interaction.Keywords:  conversation analysis, classroom interaction, reflective.

Abstract

Dalam perusahaan atau organisasi kinerja karyawan merupakan hal yang perlu diperhatikan dalam kelangsungan berorganisasi. Beberapa faktor yang mempengaruhi kinerja karyawan diantaranya kejenuhan karyawan, pemberian insentif financial dan pemberian insentif non financial. Rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah Apakah ada pengaruh kejenuhan terhadap kinerja karyawan CV. Duta Prima. ? Apakah ada pengaruh pemberian insentif financial terhadap kinerja karyawan CV. Duta Prima ? Apakah ada pengaruh pemberian insentif non financial terhadap kinerja karyawan CV. Duta Prima ? Apakah ada pengaruh secara simultan kejenuhan, pemberian insentif financial dan pemberian insentif non financial terhadap kinerja karyawan CV. Duta Prima ? Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah data primer. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah karyawan CV. Duta Prima Semarang berjumlah 30 karyawan. Teknik pengambilan sampel adalah sensus, sehingga sampel dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 30 karya wan pada CV. Duta Prima Semarang. Metode Analisa data yang digunakan adalah uji validitas, uji realibilitas, uji asumsi klasik, uji analisis regresi linear berganda (uji t dan uji F).Hasil analisis dengan alat bantu statistik program SPSS Ver 17,0 diperoleh Persamaan regresi linier berganda hasil penelitian adalah Y = 3.549 - 0,142.X1 + 0,501. X2 + 0,492. X3. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai t. hitung untuk masing – masing variabel bebas ( variabel kejenuhan kerja t hitung – 2.444, variabel Insentif Financial t.hitung = 3.968, dan variabel t hitung Insentif Non Financial t hitung = 3.922 dimana taraf signifikansinya kurang dari 0.05, dimana dapat diartikan pula bahwa t hitung atau t observasi lebih besar dari t. tabel (1.7033), berarti menolak Ho dan menerima Ha. Sedangkan variabel independen terdiri dari Kejenuhan kerja (X1), Pemberian Insentif Financial, (X2), Pemberian Insentif Non Financial (X3), dan variabel dependennya adalah Kinerja karyawan (Y) Pengaruh ketiga variabel teresebut positif dan signifikan terhadap kinerja karyawan. Hasil nilai F-hitung sebesar 90.234 F tabel 2,96. sedangkan besarnya koefisien determinasi (R2) sebesar 0,905 atau 90.5 % dan sisanya dipengaruhi oleh variabel lain sebesar 0,95 atau 9,5 %. dijelaskan oleh faktor lain di luar penelitian ini.Dari hasil analisa diatas dapat disimpulkan bahwa variabel kejenuhan kerja, pemberian insentif financial dan pemberian insentif non financial terhadap kinerja karyawan, mempunyai pengaruh yang sangat kuat sedangkan yang paling dominan adalah lingkungan. Dengan demikian dari pihak CV. Duta Prima dapat menurunkan kejenuhan yang dialami oleh para karyawan didalam melaksanakan pekerjaan, dan bisa memberikan kenaikan gaji atau tambahan tunjangan sesuai tingkat jabatan karyawan lebih agar lebih memadai lagi dari pada tahun-tahun sebelumnya. Pemberian uang lembur atau insentif lembur kepada karyawan yang melakukan kegiatan di luar jam kerja. Kata Kunci : Kejenuhan kerja (X1), Pemberian Insentif Financial, (X2), Pemberian  Insentif Non   Financial (X3) dan Kinerja   karyawan

Abstract

Teaching reading in a second language is not easy as teaching in students’ first language. There are three reasons why teacher should teach reading to their students. Using skimming, the students will get the main idea quickly. . Skimming is helpful when she or he wants to know the point of view of the text. It is not necessary to read word by word. There are many strategies that can be used when skimming. Some people read the first and last paragraphs using headings, summarizes and other organizers as they move down the page or screen. You might read the title, subtitles, subheading, and illustrations. Consider reading the first sentence of each paragraph. Reading extensively means reading widely and in quantity. By reading what students choose and enjoying their reading students have a great deal of flexibility, which caters to the different needs and interests of individual students and allow them to develop their reading competence at their own rates.Keywords: skimming, teaching reading, extensive reading

Abstract

Setiap siswa memiliki gaya belajar yang tidak sama. Cara siswa dalam mengolah informasi yang diterima kemudian menyerap dan memahaminya sesuai kemampuan dan gaya masing-masing dapat menjadi kunci keberhasilan bagi siswa tersebut dalam belajar. Keinginan dalam meningkatkan kemampuan dan potensi siswa agar mencapai tujuan pembelajaran dirasakan oleh para guru Yayasan Imam Syafi’I Jepara. Beberapa guru yang masih baru dalam profesi mengajarnya menginginkan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi dan keterampilan mengajar mereka sehingga tujuan pembelajaran dapat tercapai. Berdasar kebutuhan inilah kemudian tim pengabdian mengadakan pelatihan peningkatan kompetensi dan keterampilan mengajar para guru Yayasan Imam Syafi’i melalui pemahaman gaya belajar peserta didik. Kegiatan pelatihan ini dilaksanakan melalui beberapa tahapan. Pertama, tim melakukan analisis kebutuhan terhadap guru–guru sehingga tim mengetahui apa yang menjadi kelemahan guru-guru dan apa yang dibutuhkan oleh guru-guru. Pelatihan dilaksanakan selama satu hari. Setelah pelatihan, diakhir kegiatan peserta dievaluasi sejauh mana hasil pelatihan memiliki dampak terhadap para peserta. Peserta yang mengikuti adalah guru-guru Yayasan Imam Syafi’I Kota Jepara. Peserta terdiri dari guru sekolah tahfidz tingkat dasar (sttd), sekolah tahfidz tingkat pertma (sttp), taman tahfidzul Qur’an (ttq), dan paud Anak Sholeh. Peserta yang mengikuti terdiri dari 18 guru laki-laki dan 34 guru perempuan. Melalui kegiatan pelatihan ini, para peserta yang dimana berprofesi sebagai guru di Yayasan Imam Syafi’i memperoleh ilmu baru mengenai gaya belajar yang nantinya akan diaplikasikan ketika mengajar. Terdapat enam gaya belajar yang didapatkan selama pelatihan yaitu gaya belajar dengan mendengarkan, mengamati atau melihat, mengerjakan, menulis, membaca, dan berbicara.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of work ethic on work performance, the effect of work communication on work performance and the simultaneous effect of work ethic and work communication on work performance in the Ministry of Environment. All employees of the environmental service are designated as defendants. Due to the primary data type, the data was collected using a questionnaire, which was then processed using the IBM SPPS Statistics software. The results of the regression test show that the work ethic variable partially has a positive and significant effect on work performance. The work communication variable also has a positive and significant effect on work performance. Demonstrating work ethic and work communication simultaneously have a positive and significant effect on work performance.

Abstract

There has been a growing concern about plagiarism among students. This survey sets forth first-year vocational college students' knowledge of plagiarism. A 10-item survey was distributed to vocational students enrolled in the course of English for Specific Purposes. This study reveals that most students are unclear if they should give credit to the author, especially if they have previously paraphrased the line. They believe that unintentional plagiarism occurs mostly due to short deadlines for assignments, pressure to earn a decent score, and the notion that assignments are mere formalities that will not be examined by lecturers. According to the findings of this study, students lack adequate quoting and paraphrasing skills. Despite having insufficient knowledge of plagiarism, students were eager to learn how to avoid plagiarism. This study suggest the difficulty of students in reading paper in English. This study urges senior high school teachers to introduce plagiarism ethics to students. Lecturers and college staff are encouraged to train students to avoid plagiarism as early as possible, especially for vocational college students who have less time dealing with theories in the classroom.

Abstract

The field of education has greatly benefited from the advancements in technology, resulting in more efficacious, interactive, comprehensive, and non-classroom-bound learning experiences. One such application is web-based learning, which employs the Internet as a means to facilitate the educational process. This modality of instruction addresses various challenges that are inherent in traditional pedagogical approaches, such as the limited time allocated for lecturers and students in classroom settings.  Despite an abundance of literature that has investigated the incorporation of technology in the teaching of spoken English, there is a scarcity of studies that specifically examine the utilization of the website, TalkEnglish.com.Specifically, in the context of teaching English for Business, which necessitates students to develop proficient and precise oral proficiency in the language, the present study aims to investigate the students' perception of the efficacy of TalkEnglish.com in honing their speaking skills. This study employed a descriptive qualitative design, where ten students from the Economic Faculty at Universitas Pandanaran were selected as participants. These participants utilized the website TalkEnglish.com to improve their speaking skills. Data was collected through a semi-interview approach and documentation method. The findings of the study indicate that the majority of the participants held a positive perception of TalkEnglish.com.

Abstract

Koperasi, sebagai sebuah entitas hukum yang dibentuk oleh para anggotanya dengan prinsip kekeluargaan, memerlukan manajemen yang kompeten dan sistem internal yang terstruktur untuk mencapai tujuan-tujuannya dengan lancar dan efisien. Salah satu contohnya adalah Koperasi Memayu Jogo Tonggo Kopeng, yang menghadapi tantangan karena kelemahan dalam sistem pengendalian internal, mengganggu kelancaran operasionalnya. Beberapa masalah yang muncul meliputi kurangnya pengawasan terhadap pinjaman yang sudah jatuh tempo, ketidakjelasan dalam menetapkan batas kredit bagi anggota, dan kekurangan organisasi dalam administrasi dan pencatatan transaksi. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan penerapan sistem pengendalian internal yang kuat. Tim Pengabdian dari STIE SEMARANG bertugas untuk memberikan pelatihan di Koperasi Memayu Jogo Tonggo Kopeng. Pelatihan dihadiri oleh 19 orang yang terdiri dari ketua pengurus, pengurus harian, tenaga administrasi dan anggota Koperasi Memayu Jogo Tonggo Kopeng. Hasil dari pelatihan terlihat kemampuan pemahaman mengenai pentingnya sistem pengendalian internal. Hal ini dapat terlihat dari hasil post-test yang dikerjakan oleh peserta, yaitu sebanyak 84% peserta mendapat hasil nilai Baik Sekali. Tim PKM melalui pelatihan ini berharap dapat membantu meningkatkan kualitas koperasi tersebut untuk ke depannya.

Abstract

The ability to write effectively in English for Specific Purposes (ESP) is a crucial skill for students aiming to engage in the global professional community. English for Business is a course designed to prepare students with workplace-ready English skills, emphasizing the importance of writing proficiency. To support writing skill development, incorporating innovative strategies such as utilizing websites as learning media is essential. This study focuses on students' perceptions of using the website learnenglish.britishcouncil.org as a tool to enhance their writing activities in English for Business. A descriptive qualitative method was adopted, involving 14 Management students from STIE Semarang as participants. The data were collected through semi-structured interview and document analysis. The findings showed that the use of the platform was has positive impact to the students. The students found it engaging, practical, and helpful in enhancing their writing performance. Students were satisfied with the interactive exercise, real world example and user-friendly platform, which supported their writing activities. This study underscores the potential of digital platforms like Learn English by British Council to facilitate effective learning experiences in ESP contexts and enhance students' readiness for professional communication.

Abstract

Recent advances in technology-enhanced language learning (TELL) emphasize innovative methods to improve speaking skills in English for specific purposes (ESP) classes, particularly for Law students. However, research comparing the effectiveness of digital storytelling (DST) and video-assisted instruction (VAI) in developing speaking performance remains limited, particularly in relation to students' self-regulated learning (SRL) levels. This study explores the impact of DST and VAI on speaking performance across SRL levels through a quasi-experimental research design. A total of 48 undergraduate ESP students majoring in Law at a private university in Indonesia were categorized into higher and lower self-regulation groups. The data were collected through an SRL questionnaire and speaking tests and analyzed using two-way ANOVA and independent samples t-tests. The results revealed that students in the DST group significantly outperformed those in the VAI group (Sig. = 0.009). However, no significant interaction effect was found between SRL, instructional approach, and speaking proficiency. The finding implies that DST enhances speaking proficiency by combining structured oral production with creative narrative development, requiring students to rehearse, refine, and integrate linguistic elements in an authentic context. EFL teachers should integrate DST in their classes to improve communication skills in professional and academic settings.
