Abstract

Abstract: Amid demands for high productivity in the digital economy, many workers experience a decline in the quality of family relationships and personal well-being. This study raises the phenomenon of the productivity paradox, which is a condition in which increased work efficiency triggers household stress and conflict. The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of the productivity paradox and self-awareness on family harmony in industrial and startup sector workers in the Java region. A quantitative method was used involving 200 respondents, and the analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression. The results showed that both (1) the productivity paradox (B = 0.285; p 0.001) and self-awareness (B = 0.578; p 0.001) had a significant effect on family harmony, with the contribution of self-awareness being more dominant. (2) The Adjusted R² value of 0.677 indicates that both variables explain 67.7% of the variation in family harmony. (3) These results confirm that healthy productivity management and strengthening self-awareness are key to creating a harmonious family amidst complex work pressures. This study provides practical and theoretical contributions in the development of work-family balance policies and self-awareness-based psychological interventions. Keywords: Productivity Paradox; Self-awareness; Family Harmony; Work Stress; Life Balance

Abstract

This study constructs a Qur’anic Resilience Framework (QRF) by analyzing verses depicting the stories of the Prophets Ulul Azmi to reveal the psychological resilience rooted in Islamic spiritual values. Using a qualitative approach based on library research combined with focus group discussions involving experts in Qur’anic exegesis and Islamic psychology, this study develops a conceptual model of Qur’anic resilience. The main novelty lies in the integration of spiritual and cognitive dimensions—termed spiritual–cognitive resilience—which unites faith-based components (Ṣabr, Tawakkul,Riḍā, Rujā’) with reflective and adaptive actions (Al-Fikr, Al-‘Amal, Ṭsiqqah ‘Alā an-Nafs). This approach enriches modern psychological theories of resilience, which are predominantly secular, by adding a transcendental foundation grounded in tawhid. Theoretically, this research contributes to the development of Islamic psychology by presenting a conceptual framework of resilience deriving from Al-Qur'ān while reinforcing integrative methodologies between classical exegesis and empirical psychology. Practically, the findings offer implications for Al-Qur'ān-based mental health interventions, including Islamic counseling, spiritual guidance, and character education. Moreover, this study opens opportunities for developing measurement instruments and training programs on resilience grounded in Islamic spirituality, thereby strengthening the psychological well-being of Muslim communities.

Abstract

Despite global students' mental health problems being prevalent, adequate attention and resources to treat mental health problems are still lacking. Meanwhile, several studies found that religious commitment and gratitude can play an essential role in addressing the issue of mental health problems. This study explored religious commitment to promote mental health and gratitude as moderating variables to address this gap. This study used the Brief Scale of Mental Health 12, the General Mental Health Questionnaire (GHQ-12), the Gratitude Resentment and Appreciation Test (GRAT), and the Religious Commitment Inventory (RCI–10) scales. Data were taken from 320 students of four state Islamic Universities in East Java, Indonesia. This study utilized descriptive and regression analysis techniques. The result of the data analysis demonstrated three main findings as follows. First, the students had a high level of mental health. Second, religious commitment positively affected mental health. Third, gratitude could become a variable that strengthens the relationship between religious commitment and mental health. Research implication in education is attempting to improve mental health among students not merely on the religious commitment but also on emphasizing systematic ways to develop gratitude in students' daily lives as a moderator that plays a role in maintaining the relationship between mental health and religious commitment. This study was based solely on a quantitative approach; therefore, a mixed-method model is recommended for further investigation to understand the process of improving mental health through religious commitment and students' gratitude better.

Abstract

Exploring the Validity of a Creative Personality Scale in University Settings: A Confirmatory Factor Analysis Approach. Objective: This study aims to validate a revised 24-item Creative Personality Scale explicitly tailored for university students using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). The scale addresses gaps in existing tools initially designed for high school students and offers a more accurate fit for higher education contexts. Methods: A sample of 804 students from various faculties was selected through stratified random sampling to ensure diverse representation. The scale was revised after the initial analysis revealed inconsistencies in certain items within the university context. CFA was then employed to assess the revised scale's construct validity and reliability. Findings: The revised scale demonstrated significant improvements in internal consistency, with Cronbach's Alpha increasing from 0.823 to 0.858. Additionally, model fit indices were favourable, with a Comparative Fit Index (CFI) of 0.92 and a Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA) of 0.04, indicating strong model validity. Conclusion: This validated scale provides a reliable and accurate tool for assessing creativity in university students. It enables educational institutions to support better creativity development, which is increasingly essential for academic and professional success. The findings significantly contribute to educational psychology by providing a context-sensitive instrument for higher education. Keywords: confirmatory factor analysis, creative personality scale, internal consistency, validity, and reliability.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v14.i2.202494

Abstract

The policy of moving the national capital from Jakarta to East Kalimantan has caused pros and cons. The government is trying to equalize the economy. However, the younger generation, namely students, are still plagued by problems, namely quarter-life crisis, which has an impact on their mental health. This study examines the role of meaningfulness of life on the quarter-life crisis in students living in Indonesia's new capital city. This research design is a simple linear regression with purposive sampling to 511 students (n = 511) who study or come from East Kalimantan. Data was collected through Robbinson's Developmental Crisis Questionnaire (DCQ-12) Scale instrument and Stegger's Meaning in Life Questionnaire scale students. The results showed a significant effect of meaning in life on quarter-life crisis in college students. However, there are differences in the influence of its aspects, namely the presence of meaning and searching for meaning aspects of a quarter-life crisis. Therefore, individuals find significant value in undergoing a crisis to rise to become new individuals who are meaningful in life.

Abstract

Mental health study has become an intriguing and vital carried out by various experts according to their scientific discipline. This study aims to test the role of optimism as a mediator for the relationship of resilience with students’ mental health. The subjects were 320 students in four state Islamic colleges in East Java, Indonesia. Data obtained through the mental health scale, resilience scale, and optimism scale. Data were analyzed using regression analysis techniques. The analysis shows that the resilience has direct effects of 1.398 (p bigger than 0.01) and indirect effects of 0.312 (p bigger than 0.01) through optimism on students’ mental health. The implication of this result is the importance of resilience and optimism aspects to be considered in developing students’ mental health. Resilience will be more effective if the individual has a high level of optimism. Thus, to develop students’ mental health, these two abilities needed to be accelerated.

Abstract

The view that mental health can only be understood with a single approach can explain the existing phenomena. This paper aims to provide an alternative measurement model in conducting studies on student mental health. Data were obtained from 840 students at four state Islamic universities in East Java. Data was collected through the mental health scale. The percentage technique was used to examine the level and profile of mental health, while the variance analysis technique was used to investigate the differences between men and women. The analysis results show that the subjects have a high level of mental health and have a minimum mental illness profile. There was no evidence of a difference between men and women in terms of mental health. The results of this study have implications for the use of mental health measuring tools to be used as an alternative in measuring mental health.
