Abstract

This study conducted an analysis of satellite rainfall data utilization as an alternative for hydrological modeling. Reliability of satellite rainfall data for hydrological modeling iscompared to the use of ground rainfall data. Rainfall-runoff modeling in this research is used IHACRES program by taking a case study in the Rokan watershed, Riau Province. IHACRESmodel output was compared and analyzed with the output of IFAS simulation. The length of the data used was four years (2003 - 2006) with the variation in the length of data scheme 1(three year calibration), Scheme 2 (two years calibration) and scheme 3 (one year calibration). The results showed that the use of satellite rainfall data for rainfall-runoff modeling IHACRES is better than using ground rainfall data based on the evaluation of the model accuracy coefficient of efficiency (CE). Such thing was reviewed by assessing the CE parameters that have better value, while the parameters R and VE have relatively similar results. CE value of ground rainfall data scheme 1, Scheme 2 and scheme 3 is 0,659; 0,715 and 1,003. CE value of satellite rainfall data 0,924 and 0,875. In general, based on the CE value of the parameter evaluation accuracy simulation step, the rainfall-runoff modeling IFAS using satellite rainfall data are more reliably than the rainfall-runoff modelingIHACRES that uses ground rainfall data and satellite, the value of CE rainfall-runoff modeling IFAS is 1,652.Keywords: ground rainfall data, IFAS, IHACRES, rainfall-runoff modeling, satellite rainfall data

Abstract

Landuse change at Uwai watershed is causing increase on the amount of erotion. analisys of the potential of erotion on Uwai Watershed involves the sedimentation that occured on the watershed and also that enter the reservoir. The estimation method used to determine the magnitude of erotion occured is Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) by utilizing the Geographic Information System (GIS). The capacity of sediment transport is calculated based on equation by Verstraten. The result of the research showed that the watershed for Uwail is consisted of 44 subbasin, the highest sedimentation occured on subbasin 17 with the magnitude of 55,113.75 ton/year. Meanwhile the lowest sedimentation occcured on subbasin 33 with the magnitude of 123.03 ton/year. The erotion that enters the retention pool of Uwai which will be the sedimentation on the retention pool is 6199.9 ton/year. Hence the shallowing that will occur is 14,2 mm/year.Keywords: sedimentation, USLE, GIS,

Abstract

The Tande River is a river that flows in the Tande watershed that passes through Daik Lingga Village, with a sub-watershed area of 765 ha. Generally, rivers in Lingga Regency flow in hilly areas so they are covered with forest plants and during the rainy season there are frequent overflows of several rivers. For this reason, as a river that has the potential to overflow, an analysis is carried out regarding the capacity of the Tande River. In order to carry out the simulation, the planned flood discharge at the 25-year return period was calculated using the Nakayasu Synthetic Unit Hydrograph method, with a flowrate of 40.333 m3/s as the result. The results of the calculation of the planned flood discharge in the 25 year return period is used as input to the simulation of the water level profile in the Tande river in the same period, using HEC-RAS 4.1.0. From the simulation results of the water level profile on the Tande River, the results obtained that the planned flood discharge for the 25 year return period overflowed in 24 cross sections with flood heights ranging from 14-46 cm. Abstract

Kampar Kanan watershed has experienced landuse changes in the recent years. It is important to be able to study about the magnitude of runoff changes due to landuse changes in Kampar Kanan watershed. Hidrologic model was extracted from HEC-GeoHMS in GIS environment to model Kampar Kanan Watershed and the effect of landuse changes on the watershed.Analysis and calibration using HEC-HMS was conducted on hydrologic model. Calibration was conducted based on observed streamflow of AWLR Danau Bingkuang and gave the value of optimized parameters which are, 120% of the initial estimated value for curve number and 150% of the initial estimated value for initial abstraction. Runoff simulation using optimized parameters and inputs of frequency storm with exceedence probability of 2% yields the streamflow magnitude of 641 cms and 617 cms for landuse simulation of 2008 and 2014 respectively. The results of HEC-HMS calculation showed a 3.7% decrease in runoff streamflow on Kampar Kanan watershed. Keywords : Calibration, hydrologic model, landuse changes, watershed, HEC-HMS,

Abstract

Flood occurs when the water discharge exceeds the capacity of the river, which may harm impact of flooding in municipal area. This research aims to test the reliability of EPA SWMM software in rural area and compare it with the discharge from HEC-HMS. The reliability of the softwares was determined by calculating the difference in discharge error (DE). The simulation was performed by using flood discharge with 5 and 25 years of return period. Based on the test results, the EPA SWMM 5.0 software has good reliability with the calculated DE value less than 5% (2,593% for 5 years-return period and 2,268% for 25 years-return period). For HEC-HMS software, the DE is calculated as 1,196% for 5 years-period discharge and 2,072% for 25 years-period discharge. Therefore, it can be concluded that the HEC-HMS software has better accuracy than the EPA SWMM softwareresidential and agriculture areas. Keywords : Flood discharge, EPA SWMM 5.0, correction difference discharge
