Abstract

Education is one of the most fundamental needs for humans. It helps individuals improve by enhancing their skills as they learn new things. Many lessons can be taught to the people of Indonesia, from basic education to higher education levels (Tamrin & Yanti, 2019). In the Indonesian language, four skills must be mastered: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. These skills can be categorized into two activities: productive and receptive. Reading and writing are considered productive activities while listening and speaking are receptive activities. In Beringkit BelayuIndonesian Village, there are two elementary schools: SDN 2 Beringkit Belayu and SDN 2 Beringkit Belayu. The authors conducted teaching activities at SDN 2 Beringkit Belayu during this community service activity. Based on our observations at the school, we found that some students have certain skill deficiencies. Specifically, some students struggle with reading and writing, as well as one student who has difficulty focusing and paying attention during lessons. To address these issues, we implemented a teaching method aimed at enhancing and nurturing the student's interests and talents in writing. This community service activity is expected to help students who are facing these challenges. We hope that it will not only improve their skills but also change their perspective on learning, leading to better focus and direction in their studies

Abstract

This research is classroom action research (PTK) which aims (1) To find out how the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model can increase the learning motivation of class X Office Management students. 2023/2024 Lessons at SMK N I Klungkung, (2) Knowing the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model can improve Indonesian language learning outcomes for Class X Office Management students Th. Lessons 2023/2024 at SMK N I Klungkung. Data collection uses observation, test and questionnaire methods. Based on the results of data processing on the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model in Indonesian language learning in cycle I, the average score for student learning motivation was 77.94, which is in the medium category. Meanwhile, in cycle II, the average student learning motivation score was 86.06 and was included in the good category. Meanwhile, the average learning outcomes before the action were only 55 with an absorption capacity of 55%. Furthermore, in cycle I the average score of learning outcomes obtained was 70.9 with an absorption capacity of 70.9%. Meanwhile, in cycle II the average score for learning outcomes obtained was 80.00 with an absorption capacity of 80.00%. Classical learning completeness in the initial reflection was 58.3%. Cycle I was 68.6%. Furthermore, in cycle II it was 91.4%. These data show that there has been a significant increase in student motivation and learning outcomes, between pre-action, cycle I and cycle II.

Abstract

Students are more familiar with the informal language used on social media than the formal language that should be used in writing short stories. This research use a desciptive qualitative approach. Based on the data obtained, in analyzing the data, language errors were found in students' short story writing, including 7 sentences found in the category of sentence ineffectiveness, 11 words found in diction, 4 words found in affixation, 33 sentences found in spelling, and the absorption elements found were 7 words. Based on the data obtained through this category, it was found that students still often use the wrong vocabulary when writing sentences and arranging words into sentences. The emergence of errors is caused by several causal factors that influence writing which researchers discovered from interviews with students. Mistakes made by class VIII students at SMP Negeri 3 Abiansemal when writing short stories include limited vocabulary mastery, habitual factors in using informal language, and the prestige of wanting to show the language of speakers and educated groups using words and sentences.

Abstract

This study examines the application of the principle of Grice's cooperation in oral interaction between teachers and students and its implications for Indonesian language learning in grade VIII.3 of SMP Negeri 7 Denpasar. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this study aims to identify the forms of compliance and violation of the Grice principle of cooperation, the factors that cause it, strategies to reduce violations, and its implications for learning. Data is collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and recordings. The results of the study showed that there was compliance and violation of the four maxims of the Grice cooperation principle. Influencing factors include understanding the context, desire to communicate effectively, adequate knowledge, and limited understanding and desire to avoid topics. Strategies to reduce violations include communication training, increased contextual awareness, and the use of clear language. The implications of this study provide insights to improve the quality of interaction and effectiveness of Indonesian learning in the classroom. Abstrak Penelitian ini mengkaji penerapan prinsip kerja sama Grice dalam interaksi lisan antara guru dan siswa serta implikasinya pada pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia di kelas VIII.3 SMP Negeri 7 Denpasar. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi wujud pematuhan dan pelanggaran prinsip kerja sama Grice, faktor-faktor penyebabnya, strategi untuk mengurangi pelanggaran, serta implikasinya terhadap pembelajaran. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi, dan rekaman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya pematuhan dan pelanggaran terhadap keempat maksim prinsip kerja sama Grice. Faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi meliputi pemahaman konteks, keinginan berkomunikasi efektif, pengetahuan yang memadai, serta keterbatasan pemahaman dan keinginan menghindari topik. Strategi untuk mengurangi pelanggaran mencakup pelatihan komunikasi, peningkatan kesadaran konteks, dan penggunaan bahasa yang jelas. Implikasi penelitian ini memberikan wawasan untuk meningkatkan kualitas interaksi dan efektivitas pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia di kelas.

Abstract

Developing speaking skills is the most important element for students in learning a language. However, students face various challenges in perfecting their speaking skills, especially lack of self-confidence. This study uses ex-post facto research with correlation methodology to determine the significant relationship between second semester students' self-confidence and speaking skills. The research sample was second semester Indonesian language and literature study program students selected using a cluster sampling approach plus a lottery system. Data were obtained using research instruments in the form of questionnaires and tests to measure speaking skills. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results of the data analysis showed that the correlation coefficient of 0.93 indicated that the data was more than 0.05 and had a very good correlation. In other words, the research findings indicate a significant relationship between second semester students' self-confidence and their speaking skills

Abstract

Vocabulary development is critical from both a theoretical and a practical point of view. Vocabulary is a central factor in the process of language learning. This research is based on the idea that students are required to use English in daily interactions in the school's language program. Therefore, learning English vocabulary is crucial for improving students’ language skills. Teachers must know the students' abilities before conducting the learning activities. This study used ex post facto research design to reveal students’ vocabulary ability by conducting sentence construction tests. The study found that students' vocabulary is at a sufficient level. Therefore, students are required to improve their vocabulary to a higher level. This study highlights that various vocabulary activities should be intensified in the classroom to build up students’ active vocabulary and enable them to speak communicatively.

Abstract

Implementasi TaRL membutuhkan kompetensi pedagogis dan manajerial yang kuat dari guru. Guru dituntut mampu melakukan asesmen formatif yang cepat dan tepat, mendesain pembelajaran yang diferensiatif, serta menciptakan sistem pengelolaan kelas yang fleksibel, dinamis, dan berorientasi pada perkembangan siswa. Dalam konteks inilah, penting untuk memberikan pelatihan serta pendampingan mengenai kompetensi guru dalam pengelolaan kelas berbasis TaRL di SMK PGRI 2 Denpasar. Metode yang dipergunakan yaitu ceramah, diskusi, dan simulasi. Berdasarkan hasil observasi dan kuesioner, secara umum guru telah menunjukkan pemahaman yang cukup baik dalam menerapkan pendekatan pengelolaan kelas berbasis Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL). Sebanyak 90% guru mampu mengidentifikasi tingkat kemampuan awal siswa secara individual. Sebesar 85% guru berhasil menyusun kelompok belajar yang didasarkan pada hasil asesmen awal. Capaian sebesar 80% menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas guru telah mampu merancang dan melaksanakan kegiatan pembelajaran yang sesuai dengan kemampuan masing-masing kelompok. Sebanyak 85% guru telah menerapkan asesmen formatif secara berkala guna memantau perkembangan kemampuan siswa. Indikator Penggunaan Pendekatan Pembelajaran Aktif dan Partisipatif menunjukkan capaian terendah dibandingkan yang lain, yakni sebesar 75%. Diperlukan perhatian lebih pada penguatan strategi pembelajaran aktif dan kreatif agar pendekatan TaRL dapat berjalan lebih efektif dan menyeluruh

Abstract

This study is qualitative descriptive with the aim of (1) Describing the form of compliance and violation of politeness in spoken language of students and teachers in Indonesian language learning class VIII B SMP Negeri 4 Mengwi, (2) Describing the factors that influence the form of compliance and violation of politeness in spoken language of students and teachers in Indonesian language learning class VIII B SMP Negeri 4 Mengwi, (3) Describing the implications of politeness in spoken language of students and teachers in Indonesian language learning in class VIII B SMP Negeri 4 Mengwi. The data obtained have been analyzed in the form of data reduction; data presentation; conclusion drawing with research instruments in the form of data cards interview sheets and researchers' smartphones. The results of the study there are 50data including; 36 data forms of compliance and 14 data forms of violation of oral language politeness of students and teachers. There are 5 factors that influence the form of compliance and 4 factors that influence the form of violation of politeness in spoken language of students and teachers, as well as implications that can support the learning objectives of Indonesian language in Class VIII B SMP Negeri 4 Mengwi. Abstrak Penelitian ini kualitatif deskripitif dengan tujuan yaitu (1) Mendeskripsikan bentuk pematuhan dan pelanggaran kesantunan berbahasa lisan siswa dan guru dalam pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia kelas VIII B SMP Negeri 4 Mengwi, (2) Mendeksripsikan faktor yang mempengaruhi bentuk pematuhan dan pelanggaran kesantunan berbahasa lisan siswa dan guru dalam pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia kelasVIII B SMP Negeri 4 Mengwi, (3) Mendeskripsikan implikasi kesantunan berbahasa lisan siswa dan guru dalam pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia di kelas VIII B SMP Negeri4 Mengwi. Data yang diperoleh telah dilakukan analisis data berupa reduksi data; penyajian data; penarikan kesimpulan dengan instrumen penelitian berupa kartu data lembar wawancara dan smartphone peneliti. Hasil penelitian terdapat 50 data mencakup; 36 data bentuk pematuhan dan 14 data bentuk pelanggaran kesantunan berbahasa lisan siswa dan guru. Terdapat 5 faktor yang mempengaruhi bentuk pematuhan dan 4 faktor yang mempengaruhi bentuk pelanggaran kesantunan berbahasa lisan siswa dan guru, adapun implikasi yang dapat menunjang tujuan pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia di Kelas VIII B SMP Negeri 4 Mengwi.

Abstract

his study is a classroom action research (PTK) which aims to (1) Determine theapplication of the PBL (Problem Based Learning) learning model to improve thewriting skills of observation sheet texts for class X.2 students of SMA Saraswati 1Denpasar in the 2024/2025 Academic Year (2) determine the steps for implementingthe problem based learning model to improve the writing skills of observation sheettexts for class X.2 students of SMA Saraswati 1 Denpasar in the 2024/2025 AcademicYear. Data collection using observation and tests. The data obtained were thenanalyzed descriptively qualitatively and quantitatively. The results of the study showedthat the application of the PBL (Problem Based Learning) model to improve the writingskills of observation sheet texts for class X.2 students of SMA Saraswati 1 Denpasar.The increase in student activity can be seen from the enthusiasm of students inresponding to learning. Students are active in learning in class and are able tounderstand the material and complete the tasks given. Furthermore, when viewed fromthe results of student learning, the improvement of the results of writing the text of theobservation sheet results can be seen from the assignments given by educators tostudents and can be reviewed from the average score of the students’ tests. In the pre-test stage, students obtained an average score of 52.58 in cycle 1 56.58 and in cycle IIstudents obtained an average score of 80.67. can improve students’ability in writingLHO texts. This is shown by the results of each cycle seen from students who are ableto can be seen from students who are able to arrange the appropriateness of the content, the accuracy of the use of language, the appropriateness of the writing on students about the text of the observation sheet results. Abstrak Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang bertujuan (1) mengetahui penerapan model pembelajaran PBL (Problem based learning) untuk meningkatkan keterampilan menulis teks lembar hasil observasi pada siswa kelas X.2SMA Saraswati 1 Denpasar Tahun Pelajaran 2024/2025, (2) mengetahui langkah-langkah penerapan model pembelajaran problem based learning untuk meningkatkan keterampilan menulis teks lembar hasil observasi pada siswa kelas X.2 SMA Saraswati 1 Denpasar Tahun Pelajaran 2024/2025. Pengumpulan data mengunakan observasi dan tes. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa penerapan model PBL(pembelajaran Problem based learning) untuk meningkatkan keterampilan menulis teks lembar hasil observasi pada siswa kelas X.2 SMA Saraswati 1 Denpasar. Meningkatnya aktivitas siswa tampak dari keantusiasan siswa dalam merespon pembelajaran. Siswa aktif dalam pembelajaran di kelas dan mampu memahami materi serta meyelesaikan tiga yang diberikan. Selanjutnya, jika ditinjau dari hasil belajar siswa, peningkatan hasil menulis teks lembar hasil observasi terlihat dari penugasan yang diberikan oleh pendidik kepada siswa dan dapat ditinjau dari nilai rata-rata tessiswa. Pada tahap pre-tes siswa memperoleh nilai rata-rata 36,12 pada siklus I 46,16dan pada siklus II siswa memperoleh nilai rata-rata 80,67. Dapat meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks laporan hasil observasi.Hal itu ditunjukan oleh hasil setiap siklus Hal tersebut dapat terlihat dari siswa yang mampu merangkai kesesuaian isi, ketepatan pengunaan bahasa, kesesuaian tulisan pada siswa tentang teks lembar hasil observasi.

Abstract

Research into the mental well-being of students participating in English speech competitions and its influence on their performance is limited. Thus, this investigation aimed to analyze and compare the mental conditions, including depression, anxiety, and stress, among English speech contestants. Using a quantitative approach with a correlational design, the research included a sample of 60 participants. from 60 schools in Badung Regency. Given the population size was under 100, all participants were included, though 21 were later disqualified, resulting in 39 eligible competitors. Research tools encompassed a 7-minute English speech test and a Depression Anxiety Stress (DAS) questionnaire. Analysis entailed descriptive techniques, including correlation and simple regression t-tests. Initial findings revealed that 54% of participants experienced "mild" depression, 95% encountered "moderate" anxiety, and 59% underwent "mild" stress. Moreover, 58% performed "very well," while 43% presented "well" in their speeches. Notably, a significant correlation existed (depression (r= 0.661), anxiety (r= 0.867), stress (r= 0.929)) between psychological pressure and speech performance. The findings emphasize the need to bolster participants’ confidence and alleviate apprehension as lower levels of anxiety and stress were associated with better speech performance.
