Abstract

Abstract This thesis is aimed at raising the existence of Sampelong into a new form of work. It is because nowadays people are not really appreciative toward the traditional music, like Sampelong.In this musical work “Godang Onjak”, the writer wants to show that traditional music is not a monotonous music, but traditional music can be developed with different generated patterns and merged with other modern musical instruments. So, traditional music especially Logu sampelong art can be more attractive and acceptable to the public, especially the young generation. Thus, the traditional music will be more interesting and preserved by the next generation.   Kata kunci : komposisi, Godang Onjak, Kesenian,Sampelong.

Abstract

Serdam is an artistic product in the form of a wind instrument, the only one in West Lampung and made of bamboo. Serdam is usually used to accompany oral literary vocals such as muayak, hahadoh, hahiwang and dance music along with other traditional Lampung musical instruments. The bamboo used for the manufacture of Serdam is bamboo of the type of bamban  and is often found in the plantations of the people of West Lampung. The purpose of this study is to describe the physical form, tools and materials, the process of making Serdam, sound source and tone system and how to play the Serdam. Serdam has many physical similarities to bamboo wind instruments from other regions, but Serdam has a distinctive blowing technique and tone. The research method used is the descriptive qualitative research method. The data obtained from this study with data collection methods by observation, interviews and documentation studies. The results of this study indicate that the Serdam wind instrument is made of bamboo bamban  which is often found in the plantations of the people of West Lampung. Serdam has a shape like a long tube that has four melody holes and one blow hole. This musical instrument still uses a traditional manufacturing process to this day. Serdam as the only wind instrument originating from West Lampung has many organological peculiarities that are not yet known by the supporting community.

Abstract

Pengaruh globalisasi menghadirkan peluang signifikan yang memengaruhi dinamika budaya. Penguatan identitas budaya sangat penting untuk memperkuat identitas suatu bangsa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi karakteristik musik Tuddukat dan mengkaji bagaimana musik itu mewujudkan berbagai aspek kehidupan sosial, spiritual, dan budaya masyarakat Mentawai. Pendekatan kualitatif dan deskriptif telah digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Temuan ini mengungkapkan bahwa musik Tuddukat merupakan bentuk kearifan lokal di kalangan masyarakat Sikerei Desa Muntei di Kecamatan Siberut Selatan, Kabupaten Kepulauan Mentawai, berkontribusi pada identitas Budaya Indonesia yang ada di Kepulauan Mentawai Sumatera Barat. The influence of globalization presents significant opportunities that affect cultural dynamics. Strengthening cultural identity is very important to strengthen the identity of a nation. This research aims to explore the characteristics of Tuddukat music and examine how it embodies various aspects of the social, spiritual, and cultural life of the Mentawai community. Qualitative and descriptive approaches have been used in this study. This finding reveals that Tuddukat music is a form of local wisdom among the people of Sikerei Muntei Village in South Siberut District, Mentawai Islands Regency, contributing to the identity of Indonesian culture in the Mentawai Islands, West Sumatra.
