Abstract

The problems found at SMP Negeri 10 as the location of community service are that the condition of the land is less fertile, there is a lack of knowledge and skills regarding cultivation using a hydroponic system, and it is located in a remote area so that the vegetables consumed have always been imported from Palangka Raya City with a travel time of 1.5 hours by land and river. Electricity blackouts often occur in this area, which is quite disruptive to residents' activities. The solution to overcoming the problem is to use a hydroponic farming system that uses alternative electrical energy from solar power plants (PLTS). PLTS can be used as an alternative electrical energy source to run a hydroponic system. This PLTS was chosen because the Central Kalimantan region is a tropical area that effectively absorbs sunlight. This community service activity (PkM) aims to increase high school students' knowledge, skills, and interest in modern vegetable cultivation. The PkM team creates a guidebook to aid in the operation of hydroponic cultivation and the PLTS system, integrating training activities into project-based Merdeka Belajar activities during the implementation of community service. Monitoring and evaluation were carried out regularly until after the harvest period, and the results showed that student understanding increased to the medium-high category and attracted student interest to the excellent category.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to develop superior products at Cipta Rasa Agrotourism, Palangkaraya, through the application of vacuum frying technology. The focus of the activity included selecting the right fruits, namely crystal guava and papaya, based on their low moisture content and ease of processing. Making sample chips from these two fruits resulted in a crispy, low-oil product, while maintaining natural flavors and nutrients. In addition, the selection of appropriate packaging materials, using a combination of aluminum foil and OPP plastic, provides optimal protection of product quality and extends shelf life. An attractive and informative packaging design was also prepared to increase the product's competitiveness in the market. The results of this activity show that vacuum frying technology and good packaging design can increase the added value of agro-tourism products, support the concept of green economy, and have a positive impact on the welfare of farmers and environmental sustainability. This chip product has great potential to be marketed widely, both at the local and national levels.

Abstract

The Ngaju Dayak tribe in Kasongan, Katingan Regency, critically relies on traditional medicinal plants for health, including COVID-19 symptom management. Despite this reliance, crucial knowledge about these immunomodulatory plants remains largely undocumented, posing an urgent risk to their preservation and potential medical application. This study aimed to identify and document the specific plants utilized for COVID-19 treatment—before, during, and after the pandemic—detailing plant parts used, preparation methods, and cultural significance. Employing a mixed-method approach with structured interviews and snowball sampling in Kasongan, the research identified 15 plant species with therapeutic potential, including Peronema canescens, Orthosiphon stamineus, and Zingiber officinale. Leaves were the most frequently used plant part (68.5%), predominantly prepared by boiling (78.2%). Significantly, Peronema canescens emerged as the primary choice during the pandemic (70% fidelity level), while Annona muricata was prominent before and after. Peronema canescens also exhibited the highest Index of Cultural Significance (ICS) at 18. These findings highlight the dynamic ethnobotanical practices of the Ngaju Dayak tribe and underscore the urgent need for conservation and further scientific validation to leverage this traditional knowledge for broader health benefits and ensure community well-being.
