Abstract

This research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which aims to improve writing skills through the application of the Guide Writing method to improve the descriptive text writing skills of class VII D students at SMP Widya Sakti Denpasar for the 2023/2024 academic year. The data in this research was obtained using observation and test methods to determine students’ ability to write descriptive text. The data that has been obtained is then analyzed using quantitative descriptive and qualitative descriptive methods. Based on the research results, this research was carried out in two cycles which proves that the Guide Writing method can improve students’ ability to write descriptive text. This can be seen from the average score in the initial test (pretest), which was 39,8 in the poor category, then increased in the first cycle, namely the average student score became 58,9 in the sufficient category. Compared to cycle I, the average student score improved by 76,9 in cycle II with a good.   Abstrak Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang bertujuan meningkatkan keterampilam menulis melalui penerapan metode Guide Writing untuk meningkatkan keterampilan menulis teks deskripsi siswa kelas VII D SMP Widya Sakti Denpasar Tahun Pelajaran 2023/2024. Data dalam penelitian ini diperoleh menggunakan metode observasi dan tes untuk mengetahui kemampuan menulis teks deskripsi siswa. Data yang telah diperoleh kemudian dianalisis dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif dan deskriptif kualitatif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, maka penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus yang membuktikan bahwa metode Guide Writing dapat meningkatkan kemampuan menulis teks deskripsi siswa. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari nilai rata-rata pada tes awal (pretest) yaitu 39,8 dengan kategori kurang kemudian meningkat pada siklus I yaitu nilai rata-rata siswa menjadi 58,9 dengan kategori cukup. Dibandingkan siklus I nilai rata-rata siswa meningkat lebih baik sebesar 76,9 pada siklus II dengan kategori baik.

Abstract

Several factors are causing the threat of a language, namely globalization, majority and minority ethnicities’s existence, lack of participation of the younger generation, and crossbreeding. One of the reasons for the Rongga language is crossbreeding. This study employed a qualitative research design to study the Rongga language in crossbreed marriages. Thus, this research is intended to analyze the crossbreeding between ethnic groups with different languages, especially to figure out how Manggarai-speaking people and Ngadha-speaking people who are married to Rongga people pronounce the words of the Rongga language that contain sounds ɓ, ɗ, ɠ, ᵐb, ⁿd, ᵑg, ɹ. This study found that the sounds [ɓ], [ɗ], [ɓ], [ᵐb], [ⁿd], [ᵑg], [ɹ] in the Rongga language by Manggarai speakers are pronounced as [bʰ], [dʰ], [gʰ], [mb], [nd], [ŋg], and [r]. Every language sound [ɓ], [ɗ], [ɠ], [ᵐb], [ⁿd], [ᵑg], [ɹ] in Rongga by speakers of the language Ngadha is respectively pronounced as [bʰ], [dʰ], [gʰ], [b], [d], [g], [ʤ] or [r]. It showed that the threat to the Rongga language started from the smallest elements, namely the sounds of the language. Apart from that, threats in the Rongga language also occurred due to the limited vocabulary in the Rongga language; hence, they had to absorb the vocabulary from Indonesian. This study implies communicating in Rongga language should be carefully taken into account because it has several language variations.

Abstract

Dalam Pengabdian Masyarakat ini, kami memilih anak-anak PAUD sebagai target diberikannya pengajaran terkait cara menyikat gigi dikarenakan pada usia ini anak-anak masih sangat sulit untuk lepas dari makanan ataupun minuman yang dapat menyebabkan kerusakan pada gigi, selain itu di umur ini lah anak-anak sedang memasuki fase pertumbuhan gigi permanen dan menanamkan kebiasaan yang dapat berpengaruh pada kesehatan gigi mereka jika sudah beranjak dewasa. Gigi merupakan bagian dari alat pengunyah pada sistem pencernaan dalam tubuh manusia. Masalah utama kesehatan gigi dan mulut pada anak ialah karies gigi (Syarifudin, et al., 2022). Langkah awal yang dapat dilakukan adalah dengan melakukan kunjungan ke tiga PAUD di wilayah Desa Singapadu Tengah, mulai dari melakukan kunjungan pertama di PAUD Eka Kumara Jaya pada tanggal 21 Maret 2021, Kunjungan kedua di PAUD Tunas Taruna Laksana dan PAUD Rare Asrama pada tanggal 22 Maret 2024. Kegiatan yang telah dilaksanakan memperoleh respon yang sangat baik dari anak-anak PAUD yang dapat kami lihat dari keceriaan dan semangat anak-anak yang mengikuti kegiatan tersebut seperti pada saat sesi games dan praktek secara langsung terkait cara menggosok gigi. Setelah program kerja ini dilaksanakan ada beberapa hal yang dapat disimpulkan dan juga sebagai hasil, yaitu berdasarkan hasil wawancara kami dengan kepala sekolah di Tiga PAUD ini, beliau menyampaikan bahwa anak-anak PAUD mendapatkan pengetahuan tambahan mengenai pentingnya menjaga Kesehatan gigi dari usia dini.

Abstract

This research is classroom action research, so the characteristics of this research are that it requires several steps in the form of a cycle. The subjects of this research were 6th-grade students at Elementary School 23 Denpasar, with the research object being that the sociodrama learning method can improve students' speaking skills. The observation and test methods were used, and the qualitative descriptive method was used when processing the data. Based on the research results, the student's average score was meager in speaking at the pre-cycle stage, namely 5.2. To increase students' average scores, in cycle 1, students are given guidance on speaking skills, and after that, their speaking abilities are assessed. What is assessed is (1) speaking fluency, (2) intonation, (3) appropriateness of topic, and (4) expression and facial expressions. However, the average value obtained was just more than adequate, namely 6.375. So, it is necessary to provide more guidance and assessment in cycle 2. In cycle 2, it has yet to be achieved, namely 7.3125 in the excellent category, because the expected average score is 8.8 in the particular category. Therefore, the research was continued in cycle 3. To improve the average score in cycle 2, in cycle 3, the things carried out in cycle two were repeated but with more emphasis on role-playing without a script which was rehearsed and evaluated several times without feeling nervous, embarrassed, or afraid. In cycle 3, a new average value that exceeds the expected average value 8.8, namely 8.90625 in the Special category, can be achieved.

Abstract

The aims of this research include three things: (1) the function of pragmatic interpersonal rhetoric in teacher and student directive speech, (2) the form of pragmatic interpersonal rhetoric in teacher and student directive speech, and (3) factors that influence pragmatic interpersonal rhetoric in directive speech. teacher and student. The subjects of this research consisted of a teacher and students learning Indonesian in class XI.1. The data collection methods used in this research are observation, recording and interview methods. Data analysis was carried out in three stages, namely (1) data reduction, (2) data presentation, and (3) drawing conclusions. The results of this research show that (1) the function of pragmatic interpersonal rhetoric in teachers' and students' directive speech is requertives (asking and requesting), permissive (giving permission, granting and permitting), advice (suggesting, warning, advising, encouraging, and measuring), requirements (event), question (ask), and prohibition (forbid). (2) forms of pragmatic interpersonal rhetoric in imperative, interrogative and declarative teacher and student directive speech. (3) factors that influence pragmatic interpersonal rhetoric in teacher and student directive speech, the social distance factor between the speaker and the interlocutor (the speaker has a higher position), the communication situation factor, and the purpose of the speech by showing the speaker's sympathy.

Abstract

This research is a Class Action Research (PTK) which aims to (1) apply the RAFT (Role, Audience, Format, Topic) strategy to improve the writing skills of students in grade VII C SMP (SLUB) Saraswati 1 Denpasar, (2) describe the steps to implement the RAFT strategy in improving the skills of writing description texts of students in grade VII C SMP (SLUB) Saraswati 1 Denpasar, and (3) find out the response of class students VII C SMP (SLUB) Saraswati 1 Denpasar on the application of the RAFT strategy in learning to write descriptive texts. The data collection methods used are observation, tests, documentation, and questionnaires. The collected data was analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis techniques and quantitative descriptive analysis techniques. The results of the study showed that the application of the RAFT strategy could improve the skills of writing descriptive texts in grade VII C SMP (SLUB) Saraswati 1 Denpasar. The improvement of the skill of writing descriptive texts in each cycle, namely the pre-test, the average score of students is 67.8 with classical completeness of 36.3%, then it increases in the first cycle with an average score of 70.4 and classical completeness is 54.5%, and it increases in the second cycle with an average score of 85.8 and classical completeness of 100%. The increase in grades obtained by students is inseparable from the selection of the right steps through the application of the RAFT strategy in learning to write descriptive texts, namely forming groups, choosing topics, assuming roles, selecting participants, choosing formats, and developing them into descriptive text. The implementation of the RAFT strategy received a positive response from students. This is evidenced by the results of the student questionnaire, most of the students strongly agree and agree with the percentage of 95.44%. The results show that the implementation of the RAFT strategy can improve the writing skills of students in grade VII C SMP (SLUB) Saraswati 1 Denpasar. Abstrak Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang bertujuan (1) menerapkan strategi RAFT (Role, Audience, Format, Topic) untuk meningkatkan keterampilan menulis teks deskripsi siswa kelas VII C SMP (SLUB) Saraswati 1 Denpasar, (2) Mendeskripsikan langkah-langkah penerapan strategi RAFT dalam meningkatkan keterampilan menulis teks deskripsi siswa kelas VII C SMP (SLUB) Saraswati 1 Denpasar, dan (3) mengetahui respon siswa kelas VII C SMP (SLUB) Saraswati 1 Denpasar terhadap penerapan strategi RAFT dalam pembelajaran menulis teks deskripsi. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi, tes, dokumentasi, dan angket. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif kualitatif dan teknik analisis deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa penerapan strategi RAFT dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menulis teks deskripsi pada siswa kelas VII C SMP (SLUB) Saraswati 1 Denpasar. Peningkatan keterampilan menulis teks deskripsi setiap siklusnya, yaitu tes awal (pre-test) nilai rata-rata siswa 67,8 dengan ketuntasan klasikal 36,3%, kemudian meningkat pada siklus I dengan nilai rata-rata yang 70,4 dan ketuntasan klasikal 54,5%, dan semakin meningkat pada siklus II dengan nilai rata-rata yang 85,8 dan ketuntasan klasikal 100%. Peningkatan nilai yang diperoleh siswa tidak terlepas dari pemilihan langkah-langkah yang tepat melalui penerapan strategi RAFT dalam pembelajaran menulis teks deskripsi, yaitu membentuk kelompok, memilih topik, mengasumsikan peran, memilih peserta, memilih format, dan mengembangkannya menjadi teks deskripsi. Penerapan strategi RAFT mendapatkan respon positif dari siswa. Hal tersebut dibuktikan dari hasil kuesioner siswa, sebagian besar siswa sangat setuju dan setuju dengan persentase 95,44%. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa penerapan strategi RAFT dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menulis teks deskripsi siswa kelas VII C SMP (SLUB) Saraswati 1 Denpasar.

Abstract

Revolusi industri di era 4.0 membuat perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi bergerak cepat dan canggih. Revolusi pembelajaran berbasis digital merupakan proses pembelajaran yang menggunakan media elektronik. Pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia di era 4.0 perlu digalakkan. Leterasi digital dalam pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia di era 4.0 banyak kegunaannya serta manfaatnya. Terutama di dalam mendapatkan informasi serta menginformasikan hasil kerja peserta didik di media sosial. Literasi digital yang digunakan harus berorientasi pada kemampuan seseorang untuk berpikir kritis dan menggunakan bahasa yang komunikatif. Permasalahan yang dihadapi tentang tantangan leterasi digital bagi guru, dosen, siswa dan mahasiswa, dan metode pembelajaran yang cocok dengan pembelajaran berbasis literasi digital. Solusi yang akan diberikan untuk menghadapi permasalahan itu memberikann sosialisasi tentang leterasi digital di era 4.0. Untuk harapan yang ingin dicapai dalam pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia berbasis leterasi digital adalah masyarakat khususnya guru menjadi lebih melek teknologi, mempermudah kerja guru, dan memperluas pengetahuan peserta didik.

Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) dilaksanakan dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan literasi guru dalam menulis artikel ilmiah berbasis pendekatan reflektif dan studi kasus sebagai bagian untuk mengembangkan profesionalisme guru. Berdasarkan hasil analisis situasi ditemukan bahwa para guru memiliki motivasi yang tinggi dalam menulis, namun masih memiliki kendala dalam penerapannya. Hal ini mendorong tim pelaksana PkM untuk memberikan pelatihan sekaligus pendampingan kepada para guru dalam menulis artikel ilmiah yang relevan dengan pengalaman praktik mengajar. Kegiatan PkM ini melibatkan 12 guru dari berbagai bidang studi sebagai peserta. Kegiatan di awali dengan analisis kebutuhan, workhop, praktik terbimbing, klinik penulisan, dan forum diseminasi. Hasil keterlaksanaan kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata skor pemahaman dan pengetahuan para guru menunjukkan hasil yang postif, yakni mencapai 4,4; kepuasan metode pelatihan 4,5; dan 72% peserta menyelesaikan draf artikel. Kemudian, sebanyak 65% naskah mengalami peningkatan signifikan dan 54% guru siap mengirimkan artikelnya ke jurnal ilmiah Hasil ini mengindikasikan bahwa pelatihan penulisan artikel ilmiah dengan menggunakan pendekatan reflektif dan studi kasus terbukti efektif dalam mendorong kemampuan para guru dalam menciptakan sebuah karya tulis yang siap dipublikasikan. Selain itu, kegiatan ini dapat meningkatkan kepercayaan diri, pemahaman terhadap struktur penulisan ilmiah, serta memicu terbentuknya komunitas belajar menulis di sekolah. Pelatihan ini terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan literasi ilmiah guru serta dapat dijadikan contoh untuk diterapkan di sekolah lain sebagai bagian dari pengembangan profesionalisme pendidik

Abstract

Vocabulary development is critical from both a theoretical and a practical point of view. Vocabulary is a central factor in the process of language learning. This research is based on the idea that students are required to use English in daily interactions in the school's language program. Therefore, learning English vocabulary is crucial for improving students’ language skills. Teachers must know the students' abilities before conducting the learning activities. This study used ex post facto research design to reveal students’ vocabulary ability by conducting sentence construction tests. The study found that students' vocabulary is at a sufficient level. Therefore, students are required to improve their vocabulary to a higher level. This study highlights that various vocabulary activities should be intensified in the classroom to build up students’ active vocabulary and enable them to speak communicatively.

Abstract

This community service aims at improving knowledge and public speaking skill in Indonesian at SMK Negeri 1 Manggis. Through a combination of training methods, such as theoretical presentation, simulation and feedback, it is expected to assist the students enhance their comprehension and public speaking skill. The evaluation model of this training uses the Kirkpatrick evaluation model which consists of three aspects namely reaction, learning, and behaviour. The evaluation results show a significant increase in students’ knowledge and public speaking skill. The average post-test score increased by 25 points compared to the pre-test, indicating an increase in the students’ comprehension and skill. In addition, the behavioral evaluation shows that the students were capable in  implementing all the theories obtained in real contexts, both in and outside the classroom. Considering the aspect of the level of satisfaction with the implementation of the training (material, facilitator, and facility), more than 85% of the students gave a positive assessment. Overall, this training makes a positive contribution to the development of the students’ communication skills, and it is recommended to be held through consistent and continuous practice and mentoring.
