Abstract

The purpose of this study is to prove that stereotypes about women are gentle and protective, and irrational because they are only suitable in the domestic sector and are not worthy of being driving actors in the field of philanthropy. However, these stereotypes do not always have a negative impact, but under certain conditions they actually raise concern for vulnerable groups in the era covid-19 pandemic. This can be proven in the women's movement, the community of Kartini UIN SUKA, a community engaged in education and the Fetus and womb community which is engaged in mental health by direct interviews and using content analysis on the Fetus and Womb community Instragram which is strengthened, supported by observations and data from journals and websites. This study concludes that, during the Covid-19 pandemic, with limited space and movement due to the WFH policy, women formed a community engaged in philanthropy as a form of concern for others affected by Covid-19. Providing assistance to students in the form of groceries and educating women on mental health through virtual space is a movement that is urgently needed during the Covid-19 pandemic. This movement is not only beneficial to recipients but is also able to provide a stimulus to other groups to be motivated to foster a diverse attitude towards others even in limited circumstances. The act of driving philanthropy as well as being an actor of change is a way to break through patriarchal culture.

Abstract

Youth play a vital role in the sustainability of Islamic philanthropic organizations in Indonesia, serving as drivers, influencers, and beneficiaries. However, challenges such as career instability and limited understanding of Islamic philanthropy often hinder their long-term involvement in philanthropic activism. This study aims to analyze the strategic role of youth in Islamic philanthropic activism in Indonesia, identify the challenges they face, and explore solutions to enhance their sustainable engagement. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, examining three Islamic philanthropic organizations in Indonesia: Daarut Tauhiid (DT) Peduli, Dompet Dhuafa, and Rumah Amal Salman. Data were collected through observations and document analysis. The findings reveal that youth are significant in managing technology and social media-based philanthropic programs. They also act as influencers, encouraging other young people to participate in philanthropic activities. However, their status as volunteers, without stable career prospects, often results in temporary involvement. To promote more sustainable participation, institutional reforms are needed to provide professional development opportunities for youth in philanthropy. Kaum muda memiliki peran penting dalam keberlanjutan lembaga filantropi Islam di Indonesia, baik sebagai penggerak, influencer, maupun penerima manfaat. Namun, tantangan yang dihadapi kaum muda dalam aktivisme filantropi, seperti kurangnya stabilitas karier dan keterbatasan pemahaman tentang filantropi Islam, sering kali menghambat keterlibatan jangka panjang mereka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran strategis kaum muda dalam aktivisme filantropi Islam di Indonesia dan mengidentifikasi tantangan yang dihadapi, serta solusi yang dapat diterapkan untuk meningkatkan keterlibatan mereka secara berkelanjutan. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan mengkaji tiga lembaga filantropi Islam di Indonesia: Daarut Tauhiid (DT) Peduli, Dompet Dhuafa, dan Rumah Amal Salman. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi dan studi dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kaum muda memiliki peran signifikan dalam pengelolaan program filantropi berbasis teknologi dan media sosial. Mereka juga berfungsi sebagai influencer untuk menarik generasi muda lainnya agar berpartisipasi dalam kegiatan filantropi. Namun, status mereka sebagai volunteer tanpa jaminan karier yang stabil membuat keterlibatan mereka dalam lembaga filantropi sering bersifat sementara. Untuk meningkatkan partisipasi yang lebih berkelanjutan, diperlukan reformasi sistem kelembagaan yang memungkinkan kaum muda berkembang secara profesional di dalam dunia filantropi.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the combination of Indonesian affixes with English base words and explore their meanings. Using a qualitative research method, specifically document analysis, the research focused on data collected from the e-book titled "23 Tutorial Menggambar dengan Inkscape". Following Creswell's procedures for data collection and analysis, English words accompanied by Indonesian affixes were selected as the data. The analysis involved categorizing the data into morpheme types, identifying patterns, and determining their meanings. The findings revealed that English base words can be combined with Indonesian affixes. The identified patterns included Indonesian prefix + verb, Indonesian prefix + noun, noun + Indonesian suffix, and Indonesian prefix + verb + Indonesian suffix. Besides, Indonesian affixes also can change the word class of English base words and their meaning. This research sheds light on the utilization of Indonesian affixes in English words, contributing to our understanding of code-switching at the morphemic level.Keywords: world englishes; code-switching; morphology; Indonesian affixes; English words

Abstract

This research aims to analyze sarcasm in a comedy film entitled The Dictator. The subject of this research is dialogue containing sarcasm in the movie. The research focuses on the analysis of sarcasm in a comedy film entitled The Dictator and classifying them into types of sarcasm by explaining the meaning of each word in the dialogue. This study deals with the use of sarcastic comedy analysis by theory: camp (2011). The objective is to find out the types and meanings of sarcastic comedy shown in a film entitled The Dictator.  Qualitative method is used in this research,  with case study as the design of this research, because  the research intended to analyze sarcasm in a comedy film entitled The Dictator. In analyzing of film entitled The Dictator, there are two data sources for analysis namely: the film video and The Dictator movie script. The result of data analysis showed that there were 66 sarcastic expressions spoken by the characters entitled The Dictator film. In this research, those data are analyzed and classified into different types of sarcasm. There are propositional, illocutionary, “ike-prefixed, and lexical sarcasm. This film is mostly about how to satire the style of Muammar Khadafi the Dictator of Libya. They also satirized the American government and the country of Israel about their nuclear arsenals, and the government of America considered to be hypocritical because the American government admitted defending human rights but they are also supporting dictatorial leadership in Middle East.

Abstract

Background: Instagram captions play an important role in digital communication and can be used as an innovative tool in writing instruction. By encouraging creativity and clarity, captions help students practice meaningful writing through a familiar platform. This study aims to examine the implementation of Instagram captions in teaching descriptive texts and assess their impact on students' writing skills and motivation.Methodology:This research employed classroom action research (CAR) design, conducted in two cycles, each consisting of five meetings, with the aim of improving tenth-grade students' descriptive writing skills using Instagram as a teaching media. In the planning phase, lesson plans were developed incorporating Instagram post caption activities. During the implementation phase, students were engaged in writing descriptive texts by creating captions for photos on Instagram. Observations were made throughout the teaching process, with field notes documenting the students' participation and enthusiasm. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test assessments to measure students' writing skills, and qualitative data from observations were analyzed to assess classroom dynamics. Findings:The findings of this research indicate a significant improvement in students' descriptive writing skills after the implementation of Instagram post captions as a teaching media. In the pre-test, the mean score was 75.94, with only 50% of students meeting the minimum achievement criteria (KKM). However, after the intervention, the post-test mean score increased to 80.16, with 100% of students achieving the KKM. This demonstrates a 55.57% improvement in students' writing abilities. Additionally, observations during the lessons revealed that students were more engaged and enthusiastic throughout the process, suggesting that Instagram captions effectively captured their interest and contributed to a more active and interactive classroom environment. Conclusion:In conclusion, the use of Instagram post captions as a teaching media has proven to be an effective strategy for improving students' descriptive writing skills in the tenth grade at SMAN 3 Kuningan. The research demonstrated a significant improvement in students' writing performance, with all students meeting the minimum achievement criteria by the end of the study. The integration of Instagram into the learning process not only enhanced students' writing skills but also increased their engagement and enthusiasm during lessons. Therefore, Instagram post captioning can be considered a valuable and innovative tool for teaching writing, particularly in descriptive text, and can be applied in similar educational settings to foster student creativity and motivation in writing.Originality:This study offers an original approach by utilizing Instagram post captions to improve students' descriptive writing skills, integrating social media as an effective tool in enhancing language learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study explores the politeness strategies employed by Tenggo Wicaksono in his Ome TV interactions on YouTube, focusing on their adaptation to informal, cross-cultural digital communication. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, 127 instances of politeness strategies were identified and analyzed based on Brown and Levinson’s framework, revealing a preference for positive politeness strategies (48%), followed by negative politeness (25%), bald on record (22%), and off-record (5%). Positive politeness strategies were prominently used to reduce social distance and build rapport, while negative politeness mitigated impositions in interactions involving greater social distance. The findings emphasize the importance of context and sociological variables, such as power dynamics and rank of imposition, in shaping linguistic choices. This research highlights the adaptability of politeness strategies in digital spaces and recommends further studies on their application across platforms and cultural contexts, providing valuable insights for digital content creators and educators navigating multicultural interactions. Keywords: Politeness strategies; Ome TV; digital communication; cross-cultural interaction; qualitative analysis; pragmatics.
