Abstract

Indonesia significantly contributes to the global electric vehicle battery market due to its substantial medium- and low-grade nickel reserves. This study utilized saprolitic nickel ore from Halmahera, Maluku, Indonesia. However, the research on saprolite needs some improvements due to its complex mineral composition, which affected on the roasting process significantly. Therefore, a thorough understanding of the properties of laterite ores is critically important, particularly concerning laterite pre-reduction processes. The ore was finely sieved to a particle size of less than 100 mesh and then heated at temperatures of 250, 900, and 1150°C with the variation of reductant (anthracite and palm kernel charcoal). Extensive mineralogical analysis was conducted using X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), and scanning electron microscopy with energy-dispersive spectroscopy (SEM-EDS). The analysis of saprolite showed that it contains about 1.82% nickel, 30.47% iron, 10-20% magnesium, 4.86% aluminum, and 8.1% silicon by weight. Its mineral composition is mainly 53.1% goethite, 38.3% lizardite, and 8.7% quartz. The study found that goethite in saprolite was transformed into hematite around 250°C. At 900°C, the forsterite was crystallized, and at 1150°C, the ferronickel was formed. The transformation of lizardite is important as it affected on nickel diffusion within the iron matrix, which impacted on the material's properties. A thermal upgrading method with reductants like anthracite and palm kernel charcoal was used at lower temperatures to enhance the properties of saprolite. These findings provided valuable insights into saprolite's mineralogical composition and behavior, potentially offering improvements in various industrial processes and applications.

Abstract

Paduan magnesium AZ31 menawarkan prospek yang menjanjikan sebagai material implan biodegradable karena memiliki sifat mekanik yang menyerupai tulang manusia dan biokompatibilitasnya yang unggul. Namun, kelemahan utama material ini adalah laju korosi yang tinggi dapat mengakibatkan kegagalan material sebelum regenerasi jaringan selesai dan kekerasan yang rendah sebagai material implan tulang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut dengan melakukan rekayasa permukaan melalui metode Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation (PEO) dan Hydrothermal Treatment (HT). Studi ini melibatkan tiga spesimen: AZ31 tanpa perlakuan, AZ31 dengan lapisan PEO, dan AZ31 dengan lapisan PEO yang diberi perlakuan HT. Analisis difraksi sinar-X (XRD) menunjukkan pembentukan senyawa MgO, Mg(OH)₂, Mg₂SiO₄, dan hidroksiapatit pada permukaan lapisan. Intensitas puncak hidroksiapatit tertinggi ditemukan pada spesimen yang menjalani perlakuan HT, menandakan peningkatan kandungan hidroksiapatit yang dapat meningkatkan bioaktif implan. Uji kekerasan Vickers menunjukkan bahwa spesimen dengan lapisan PEO memiliki nilai kekerasan tertinggi sebesar 76,69 HV, meningkat 35% dibandingkan dengan spesimen tanpa perlakuan (56,60 HV). Setelah perlakuan HT, kekerasan menurun menjadi 68,94 HV, yang disebabkan oleh relaksasi tegangan internal saat proses hidrotermal. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kombinasi metode PEO dan HT tidak hanya meningkatkan kekerasan permukaan, tetapi juga menghasilkan lapisan bioaktif dengan potensi biointegrasi yang lebih baik. Kombinasi ini menjadikan paduan AZ31 sebagai kandidat unggul untuk aplikasi implan biomedis. Penelitian lebih lanjut disarankan untuk mengoptimalkan parameter proses dan mengevaluasi kinerja biologis secara in-vitro dan in-vivo guna mendukung pengembangan aplikasi klinis.

Abstract

SMAIT Al Uswah adalah sekolah menengah atas yang berfokus pada pembentukan siswa muslim yang berkarakter dan berprestasi. Siswa dididik dengan mengintegrasikan nilai-nilai Islam dengan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi. Sekolah ini menyediakan berbagai kegiatan ekstrakurikuler menarik, seperti kaligrafi, jurnalistik, futsal, basket, dan lainnya. Namun, fasilitas untuk pengembangan keterampilan pemrograman komputer belum tersedia karena keterbatasan tenaga pengajar. Padahal, pelajaran pemrograman komputer sangat relevan mengingat perkembangan teknologi berbasis digital. Selain itu, materi ini dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir logis, kreativitas, serta pemahaman teknologi secara cerdas dan bertanggung jawab. Oleh karena itu, tim KKN ABMAS menyelenggarakan pelatihan pemrograman komputer berbasis Python untuk siswa SMAIT Al Uswah. Tim ini juga telah menyusun buku modul pembelajaran Python dan melaksanakan sesi pengajaran selama lima minggu. Pemahaman siswa terhadap materi diukur melalui pretest dan post-test. Kegiatan ini dianggap berhasil sebabberhasil meningkatkan pemahaman siswa sebesar 88.89% berdasarkan dari hasil nilai pretest dan post test.

Abstract

Proses pendampingan sertifikasi halal self declare pada produk UMKM makanan dan minuman di Kantin departemen Teknik Mesin serta Teknik Material dan Metalurgi ini dilaksanakan dengan tujuan untuk memperluas pemahaman terkait pentingya sertifikasi halal dalam peningkatan mutu produk UMKM, menambah nilai jual produk, serta meningkatkan minat dan kenyamanan konsumen produk UMKM di Kantin departemen Teknik Mesin serta Teknik Material dan Metalurgi. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini berupa sosialisasi, knjungan, serta pendampingan terkait pengajuan sertifikaasi halal melalui SiHalal dengan program self declare. Adapun hasil dari keberjalanan program ini yakni UMKM mampu memahami pentingnya sertifikasi halal; UMKM memahami tahapan pengajuan sertifikasi halal self declare; Serta terbitnya sertifikat halal pelaku UMKM di Kantin departemen Teknik Mesin dan Teknik Material Metalurgi. Dengan demikian, diharapkan hal tersebut mampu mendukung keberjalanan Insitut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember dalam memnuhi zona KHAS (Kuliner Halal Aman dan Sehat). Disisi lain, minat beli konsumen dan kepercayaan konsumen diharapkan dapat meningkat dengan adanya label halal tersebut. Diharapkan juga dapat meningkatkan nilai penjualan produk dan kesejahteraan UMKM Kantin departemen Teknik Mesin dan Teknik Material Metalurgi.

Abstract

Kerjasama antara ITS dengan Ponpes Al Khoiriyah Desa Wates, Kecamatan Sumbergempol, Kabupaten Tulungagung telah dimulai sejak tahun 2021 melalui skema abmas dan KKN Mahasiswa. Tahun 2023 lalu telah dibuat lampu dan sel surya di atas bukit Podo di kawasan Ponpes Al Khoiriyah oleh tim KKN. Namun, dari kaki bukit hingga puncak bukit belum terdapat tangga permanen yang memudahkan orang mendaki, dan hal inilah yang menjadi kesulitan tim abmas kami tahun lalu. Tangga ini menjadi salah satu hal penting untuk pengembangan kawasan wisata Glamping Podo Rukun (GPR) ponpes Al Khoiriyah agar pengunjung dapat naik ke atas bukit, melihat pemandangan dari atas bukit dan bagi pengelola juga memudahkan untuk melakukan pemeliharaan terhadap fasilitas di atas bukit. Dengan demikian, tujuan dari Abmas tematik dana departemen tahun 2024 ini adalah membuat tangga permanen di Bukit Podo. Kegiatan ini penting dalam rangka mengembangkan kawasan desa wisata untuk meningkatkan potensi daerah dan pertumbuhan ekonomi masyarakat yang mendukung SDG Pekerjaan Layak dan Pertumbuhan Ekonomi. Luaran dari kegiatan ini adalah publikasi di media massa, di jurnal abmas, dan video yang dilengkapi HAKI. Pengabdian masyarakat telah dilaksanakan pada tanggal 8-18 Juli 2024, dimulai dengan survey, pengadaan alat dan bahan, serta pekerjaan konstruksi tangga di bukit Podo secara intensif dalam jangka waktu sekitar 10 hari. Pada akhir kegiatan telah dilakukan kegiatan serah terima hasil abmas KKN kepada pihak ponpes.

Abstract

This study explores the integration of local wisdom values into thematic curriculum-based learning at MI Pelangi Alam in Ponorogo. The issue addresses how culturally rooted values such as cooperation, humility, and respect are embedded within educational practices to foster character development among elementary students. The research aims to identify effective strategies for implementing local wisdom in teaching, examine its impact on student awareness and character, and explore challenges faced in curriculum integration. Employing a qualitative approach, data were collected through structured interviews, observations, and documentation analysis involving teachers and students. The findings reveal that MI Pelangi Alam successfully incorporates local cultural elements—such as history, culinary traditions, and religious tourism into lessons, which enhances students' understanding of their identity and local resources. The active learning methods, including project-based and cooperative learning, effectively engage students and promote character values aligned with local culture. Support from the community and continuous teacher training further facilitate the integration process. However, challenges such as curriculum constraints and uneven teacher proficiency highlight areas for improvement. Overall, the incorporation of local wisdom values positively influences students' character development and cultural awareness, contributing to the broader goal of forming respectful, confident, and culturally rooted individuals. This research provides insights into sustainable strategies for embedding local culture into primary education.

Abstract

The design of scaffold based on polycaprolactone (PCL) and hydroxyapatite (HA) has attracted attention as a solution for bone tissue regeneration. However, the main challenge in its development is the difficulty in achieving an optimal balance between porosity and mechanical strength. Suboptimal porosity limits the scaffold ability to support cell proliferation, and weak mechanical properties result in the scaffold being less than optimal as a load-bearing implant material during the bone cell regeneration process. This study aims to address these issues by evaluating the effects of the silane coupling agent 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) and the porogen ratio (NaCl) on the mechanical properties, morphology, and biodegradation of PCL-HA-based 3D scaffold. The scaffold were synthesized using the solvent casting/particulate leaching (SCPL) method with varying APTES concentrations (1%, 3%, and 5%) and porogen ratios. (4:1, 6:1, and 8:1). The results of characterization show that the addition of 1% APTES increases compressive strength by 283% and tensile strength by 138% compared to scaffold without APTES. A higher porogen ratio (8:1) results in the highest porosity of 78.16%, but reduces mechanical strength by 84%. The optimal combination was found in scaffold with 1% APTES and a porogen ratio of 4:1, which have optimal mechanical strength, porosity of 69.65%, and a biodegradation time of up to 380 days. This research offers a comprehensive solution to enhance the properties of PCL-HA based 3D scaffold, making a significant contribution to the development of materials for bone tissue engineering applications.
