Abstract

The research almed to describe educated values in novel entitled Sepatu Dahlan written by Khrisna Pabichara. Kinds of this research was used describtive methods. The results of this research are: firstly, the educated values related with hard work that both father and mother who have hard work spirit to fullfil then children needs, it’s same with Dahlan who hard work spirit up to reach his go’al and his dream one self. Second, educated values related with caring that love and care wich. Dahlan father, mother, and Zain has in this novel is well and become into harmony is family. Third, the educated values related with disciplin that disciplin wich always implemented by the father to conduct his children not to waste the time. Fourth, educated values related with patience wich had by Dahlan, father, mother, to face their poverty condition. Fifth, educated values related with responsible that father taught his children to be a responsible one. The lesson was always implemented by Dahlan in everything he did.

Abstract

ABSTRAKBahasa Inggris menjadi salah satu keterampilan yang harus dikuasai oleh mahasiswa agar dapat terjun ke dunia kerja global. Banyak perusahaan mensyaratkan penguasaan bahasa asing, salah satunya adalah bahasa Inggris. Untuk menjawab tantangan tersebut, Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije) mengadakan uji kompetensi bahasa Inggris Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) untuk mahasiswa tingkat akhir sebagai salah satu syarat kelulusan. Namun, permasalahan utama yang dihadapi mahasiswa yang akan mengikuti tes tersebut adalah mereka belum mengetahui TOEIC. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan mitra tentang TOEIC melalui sosialisasi dan pelatihan TOEIC yang melibatkan 65 mahasiswa Polije. Hasil dari pelatihan TOEIC menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa dapat (1) meningkatkan pemahaman tentang TOEIC, (2) mengimplementasikan strategi yang sesuai dalam mengerjakan soal TOEIC, (3) dapat meningkatkan kemampuan Bahasa Inggris mereka. Kegiatan serupa direkomendasikan melibatkan lebih banyak mahasiswa di lingkungan Polije agar mahasiswa Polije lebih siap mengikuti uji kompetensi bahasa Inggris dan bersaing di dunia global. Kata kunci: pelatihan; TOEIC; komunikasi; keterampilan; bahasa inggris. ABSTRACTEnglish is one of the skills that must be mastered by students in order to enter the global world of work. Many companies require mastery of foreign languages, one of which is English. To answer this challenge, Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije) held an English competency test; Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) for senior students as one of their graduation requirements. However, the main problem faced by students who took the test was that they knew nothing about TOEIC. The purpose of this community service activity was to improve the students’ knowledge about TOEIC through TOEIC socialization and training, which involved 65 students. The results of the TOEIC training showed that the students could (1) improve their understanding about TOEIC, (2) implement appropriate strategies in working on TOEIC questions, (3) improve their English skills. Similar activities are recommended by involving more students in Polije so that students of Polije are better prepared to take the English language competency test and compete in the global world..Keywords: training; TOEIC; communication; skills; english.

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Masalah kelebihan berat badan dan obesitas pada remaja saat ini sangat serius dan berpotensi berlanjut hingga dewasa, meningkatkan risiko penyakit kronis seperti diabetes dan penyakit jantung. Salah satu penyebab utamanya adalah kebiasaan makan yang tidak sehat dan kurangnya aktivitas fisik. Upaya preventif melalui pendidikan tentang gizi seimbang dapat membantu remaja memahami dan peduli terhadap pentingnya pencegahan obesitas.Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan desain Pre-eksperimen dengan one group pre-test-post-test design. Reponden sebanyak 32 siswa kelas XI SMAN-3 Palangka Raya. Siswa diberikan edukasi gizi menggunakan lembar balik, kemudian perubahan pengetahuan dan sikap diukur menggunakan kuesioner dan dianalisis dengan Wilcoxon dan McNemar.Hasil: Penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada pengetahuan siswa mengenai gizi setelah diberikan edukasi. Nilai median pengetahuan meningkat dari 65 menjadi 80, dengan persentase siswa yang memiliki pengetahuan baik meningkat dari 18,8% menjadi 65,6%. Selain itu, nilai median sikap positif siswa terhadap makanan sehat juga meningkat dari 75 menjadi 77,5.Kesimpulan: edukasi gizi dengan media lembar balik merupakan intervensi yang efektif untuk meningkatkan kesadaran remaja akan pentingnya gizi seimbang

Abstract

Adolescent women are particularly susceptible to anemia caused by significant blood loss during menstruation phase. Another factor that could cause anemia are lack of knowledge and intake of iron. The education using crossword puzzles to increase knowledge can be used to prevent anemia in adolescent women. This study aimed to determine the effect of crossword puzzles on the level of knowledge and attitudes of young women about anemia at SMK Karsa Mulya Palangka Raya. The type of research used a Quasi-experimental research design with one group pre-posttest design without a control group. The sample in this study was female students at SMK Karsa Mulya Palangka Raya, totaling 45 people. The respondent was given a pretest questionnaire, being educated using a crossword puzzle twice for four weeks, and a posttest to evaluate the education results. Data analysis for knowledge used Wilcoxon test and attitudes used paired t-tests. The results showed that the majority of respondents were 15-18 years old, and the highest prevalence respondent was 15 years old (42.2%). The analysis showed that crossword puzzles significantly affect adolescent women's knowledge levels and attitudes (p=0.000) about anemia at SMK Karsa Mulya Palangka Raya.   Keywords: Anemia, Attitudes, Crossword, Knowledge

Abstract

Stunting merupakan masalah gizi kronis yang berdampak jangka panjang terhadap kualitas sumber daya manusia. Di Indonesia, prevalensi  stunting pada balita masih tinggi, termasuk di Provinsi Bengkulu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis karakteristik kejadian stunting pada balita suku Serawai di Kabupaten Seluma Provinsi Bengkulu.. Pnelitian enggunakan pendekatan deskriptif analitik kuanlitatif dengan desain cross-sectional. Sampel  penelitian melibatkan 65 ibu balita sebagai responden yang dipilih melalui teknik purposive sampling. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner dan observasi buku KMS, lalu dianalisis secara univariat dan bivariate  dengan uji Chi-Square. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa usia balita 24 bulan memiliki risiko lebih tinggi mengalami stunting (OR=1,29), dan balita dari suku Jawa memiliki kemungkinan 2,23 kali lebih besar mengalami stunting dibandingkan balita dari suku Serawai. Meskipun jenis kelamin dan riwayat penyakit menunjukkan hubungan yang signifikan, kekuatan hubungan relatif lemah. Pangan lokal, jika dimanfaatkan dengan optimal dan disesuaikan dengan budaya setempat, dapat menjadi pendekatan efektif dalam mencegah dan mengatasi stunting. Oleh karena itu, intervensi  dengan pendekatan budaya dapat dirancang untuk intervensi gizi yang sensitif terhadap konteks budaya masing-masing suku agar lebih mudah diterima masyarakat.Kata Kunci: balita, Bengkulu, karakteristik, stunting, status gizi, suku Serawai

Abstract

Creativity plays a crucial role in innovation, problem-solving, and both individual and societal advancement, enabling individuals to generate novel ideas, develop effective solutions, and approach challenges with adaptability. The SCAMPER technique is used to foster creative and innovative thinking, providing a structured method for idea generation and refinement. SCAMPER encompasses seven creative strategies: Substitute, Combine, Adapt, Modify, Put to Another Use, Eliminate, and Reverse. This study examines students' perceptions of SCAMPER in developing creative writing skills within English for Specific Purposes (ESP) classes. A qualitative case study method was employed, involving second-semester students from the Informatics Engineering Study Program enrolled in Intermediate English courses. Data collection methods included semi-structured interviews and questionnaires, providing insights into students’ experiences with SCAMPER in writing procedural texts. The findings reveal that the SCAMPER technique enhances creativity, cognitive flexibility, and innovation in writing, enabling students to produce varied and explorative texts. Furthermore, the approach supports critical thinking and deeper idea exploration. Although some students struggled with adapting to the creative thinking process, the overall response to SCAMPER was positive, highlighting its potential as an effective tool in ESP learning environments.

Abstract

Waste management in rural areas is often not handled optimally due to the low level of community awareness and skills. Household waste that is disposed of carelessly not only causes environmental pollution but also disrupts village aesthetics and poses health risks. This community service program aimed to improve the knowledge, skills, and participation of residents in Kalianyar Village, Kapas District, Bojonegoro Regency in household waste management based on the 3R principles (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) using the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method. The program was carried out through four main stages: (1) problem identification with residents and mapping of waste sources; (2) planning through education, training, and the establishment of a waste management institution; (3) action in the form of socialization, training on separating organic and inorganic waste, compost production using the Takakura basket method and biopore holes, as well as processing inorganic waste into handicrafts; and (4) reflection and evaluation to measure the success of the program. The results indicated an increase in residents’ knowledge from an average of 55% to 85%. As many as 70% of participants began practicing waste separation at home, 50% produced compost independently, and 35% utilized inorganic waste into creative products with economic value. In addition, a Village Waste Bank was established and successfully collected 120 kg of inorganic waste within the first two weeks of operation. These findings demonstrate that the PAR method is effective in building collective awareness and strengthening community engagement in maintaining environmental cleanliness. The success of this program is expected to serve as a replication model for other villages in realizing a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment.
