Abstract

This study examines the role of kiai leadership in strengthening the religious identity of urban Muslim communities, specifically at Pesantren Darul Falah Ternate. In an urban context, modernization and globalization often pose challenges that erode religious values in society. The kiai at Pesantren Darul Falah serves as a spiritual leader and a figure who preserves the continuity of Islamic values within the increasingly pluralistic and dynamic urban environment. This research aims to understand how the Kiai face these challenges and maintain the religious identity of the Muslim community. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method with observation, interviews, and document analysis. Data were analyzed using the methods of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana through data condensation and presentation in narrative form to highlight relevant information. The research findings show that the Kiai's leadership at Pesantren Darul Falah successfully maintained religious identity through religious activities such as study groups, zikr, and sermons and through collaboration with the government and local communities. The Kiai also utilized modern technology to disseminate Islamic teachings, bridging religious traditions with modern life. Furthermore, strategic partnerships with various parties have strengthened the role of the pesantren as a center for social and economic empowerment. These findings emphasize the importance of the adaptive and collaborative role of the kiai in addressing social changes.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas adaptasi Pondok Pesantren Darul Falah Ternate dalam menghadapi modernisasi pendidikan, khususnya terkait dengan pembelajaran Kitab Kuning. Pesantren dihadapkan pada tantangan mempertahankan nilai-nilai tradisional dalam pembelajaran agama Islam, sambil merespons perkembangan teknologi dan tuntutan masyarakat modern. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk memahami bagaimana pesantren tersebut mengintegrasikan metode pembelajaran klasik seperti bandongan dan sorogan dengan penggunaan teknologi digital, termasuk live streaming, untuk memperluas jangkauan pendidikan mereka. Dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif, data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara terbuka, observasi peserta, dan analisis dokumen. Peneliti terlibat langsung dalam kegiatan pesantren untuk mengamati praktik pembelajaran dan bagaimana teknologi digunakan dalam proses pengajaran. Analisis data dilakukan melalui tahapan pengumpulan, kondensasi, penyajian, serta penarikan kesimpulan dan verifikasi data. Hasil studi menunjukkan bahwa Pondok Pesantren Darul Falah berhasil memadukan tradisi dan modernisasi dengan tetap menjaga nilai-nilai keilmuan Islam yang diajarkan melalui Kitab Kuning. Penggunaan live streaming dan platform media sosial telah memungkinkan pesantren untuk menjangkau audiens yang lebih luas dan memberikan fleksibilitas dalam pembelajaran. Implikasi dari penelitian ini menegaskan pentingnya adaptasi pesantren terhadap perubahan zaman tanpa kehilangan esensinya sebagai institusi pendidikan Islam. Hasilnya dapat menjadi rujukan bagi pesantren lain di Indonesia dalam merespons tantangan modernisasi dan teknologi.

Abstract

The research aims to elaborate on the management of talent and interest development in students at Islamic High School (Madrasah Aliyah Negeri, MAN) 1 Tidore and identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in the management of developing interests and talents in students at MAN 1 Tidore. The results showed that talent and interest development management was managed by the deputy head of student affairs, extracurricular coaches, student organization coaches, and students council (OSIS). Management stages include planning, implementation, and evaluation stages. This research contributes to the management studies on developing students' talents and interests in Islamic schools integrated into the school system and elaborates on the supporting and inhibiting factors. The supporting factors for the implementation of the management of the development of student's talents and interests include the solid cooperation and performance of all madrasah parties, the effective and efficient use of funds through BOS funds, adequate facilities and infrastructure, and the figure factor of the principal of MAN 1 Tidore. The inhibiting factors include spreading Covid-19 and natural/weather factors, irregular (routine) extracurricular activities, and the absence of counselor teachers.

Abstract

his study aims to examine the dynamics of modernization in the management of Pondok Pesantren Darul Falah Ternate and to analyze the extent to which these changes influence the characteristics and existence of the pesantren. The background of this research lies in the social transformation and the demands of the times, which require pesantren to adapt without abandoning their religious identity. This study employs a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings show that modernization at Pondok Pesantren Darul Falah includes the development of an educational management system, the integration of general and religious curricula, and the use of information technology. Nevertheless, the traditional values of the pesantren are still upheld as the foundation for students’ character formation. The study concludes that modernization does not negate the essence of the pesantren, but rather strengthens its role as an adaptive Islamic educational institution. The implications of this study highlight the importance of inclusive and visionary managerial strategies for enabling pesantren to transform sustainably in facing global challenges.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran kepemimpinan kepala madrasah dalam optimalisasi instrumen akreditasi 2025 serta kontribusinya terhadap peningkatan mutu madrasah. Penelitian ini berangkat dari penerapan instrumen akreditasi terbaru oleh BAN-PDM yang menekankan tiga elemen inti yaitu kepemimpinan, pendidik, dan hasil belajar sehingga madrasah dituntut untuk melakukan transformasi tata kelola dan penguatan Sistem Penjaminan Mutu Internal (SPMI). Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan Mixed Methods melalui kuesioner, wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan studi dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kepemimpinan kepala madrasah berpengaruh signifikan terhadap Optimalisasi Instrumen Akreditasi (β = 0,614; p < 0.001) dan Mutu Madrasah (β = 0,588; p < 0.001), sementara optimalisasi akreditasi juga berpengaruh signifikan terhadap mutu pendidikan (β = 0,471; p < 0.01). SPMI terbukti memediasi sebagian hubungan antara kepemimpinan dan optimalisasi akreditasi (β indirect = 0,211; p < 0.05). Temuan kualitatif menegaskan bahwa kepemimpinan visioner, supervisi aktif, keteladanan, dan komunikasi terbuka menjadi penentu utama keberhasilan implementasi akreditasi 2025. Kebaruan penelitian ini terletak pada fokus eksplisit terhadap implementasi Instrumen Akreditasi Satuan Pendidikan (IASP) 2025 versi terbaru yang belum banyak dikaji dalam konteks madrasah serta integrasi analisis hubungan kepemimpinan, SPMI, dan akreditasi digital melalui Sispena. Penelitian ini juga menyajikan model empiris yang menunjukkan bagaimana kepemimpinan kepala madrasah mendorong transformasi budaya mutu berkelanjutan, bukan sekadar pemenuhan administrasi akreditasi. Dengan demikian, studi ini memberikan kontribusi baru dalam literatur manajemen pendidikan Islam dan akreditasi modern berbasis kinerja.

Abstract

Pesantren in Indonesia have long demonstrated remarkable institutional resilience amid the pressures of modernization, yet the sources of this resilience remain inadequately theorized in conventional educational management literature. This study investigates how Barakka authority — a concept of divine blessing and moral legitimacy rooted in the Bugis-Islamic tradition of South Sulawesi — shapes and sustains the institutional resilience of Pondok Pesantren DDI Mangkoso. Employing Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis as both an epistemological foundation and methodological design, data were collected through in-depth interviews, three months of participatory observation, and institutional document analysis. Findings reveal that Barakka authority operates across five governance dimensions: human resource management framed through the principle of amanah, curriculum renewal through spiritually grounded ijtihad, financial trust rooted in the inherited institutional Barakka, digital transformation legitimized as wasilah, and strategic network expansion curated on the basis of shared Islamic values. These findings demonstrate that deep spiritual commitment and high institutional professionalism are not opposing forces but mutually reinforcing ones, when integrated through community-recognized Barakka-based leadership. This study proposes Barakka authority as a distinct construct that extends Weber's charismatic typology while offering an indigenous Islamic governance framework with broader implications for faith-based educational leadership beyond the Indonesian context.
