Abstract

The disposal of rhodamine B of industrial wastewater into the environment without treatment causing water pollution. The purpose of this study is to utilize rice husks as activated carbon which is used to treat industrial wastewater through the adsorption – fluidization process. Also, to determine the effect of variations in contact time on the adsorption process. Carbon from rice husk is activated used 36% HCl. The adsorption process used activated carbon is variated in contact time for 0, 30, 60, 90, 120, and 150 minutes. Based on the result of this research, the optimal contact time is 120 minutes. At that time, activated carbon from rice husk can reduce initial levels of 50 ppm to 1.142 ppm.

Abstract

Bioplactic from banana corm and glycerol has been studied in this research. In addition, the physical chemical properties of it has been improved by adding chitosan, clay and CMC as filler and glycerol as plasticizer. Plastic that produced form organic material such as starch usually has poor properties in physical and mechanical. Composition variation of chitosan, clay and CMC as filler then combined by variation of glycerol as plasticizer have produced significant improve of the bioplastic physical properties. Properties of the bioplastic that studied in this research was focused to biodegradation, elongation, and tensile strength. The addition of fillers and plasticizers is carried out to produce a better bioplastics. This study used 3 variations of the filler composition : 4, 5, and 6 grams and 2 variations of the plasticizer composition: 1 ml and 2 ml. The bioplastics that produced were tested for tensile strength, elongation, and biodegradation of the soil for 7 days. The best tensile strength results is 8.43 MPa for bioplastic that using CMC fillers. On the other side, the best elongation percentage is 9.87% for bioplastic which using CMC fillers. The bioplastic that added Clay as filler can be degraded up to 100% in 7 days.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh sekam padi dan karbon aktif dalam penurunan Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) dan Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) dengan metode absorbsi. Prosedur yang dilakukan melalui beberapa tahapan, yaitu pembuatan adsorben dengan dilakukan pemurnian abu silika sekam padi, pembuatan karbon aktif. Analisis dilakukan dengan menghitung kadar BOD dan COD sebelum perlakuan. Sehingga, diperoleh hasil sebagai berikut sebelum diberlakukan perlakuan kadar COD kedua sampel sebesar 4045 mg/L dan mengalami penurunan berturut-turut baik pengujian pertama maupun pengujian kedua, yakni 717 mg/L dan 689 mg/L (sekam padi) serta 827 mg/L dan 795 mg/L (karbon aktif). Pada BOD, sebelum perlakuan dikedua sampel didapatkan kadar BOD sebesar 1598 mg/L dan mengalami penurunan berturut-turut untuk pengujian pertama maupun kedua, yaitu 212 mg/L dan 193 mg/L (sekam padi) serta 485 mg/L dan 411 mg/L (karbon aktif). Efektivitas sekam padi dan karbon aktif memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap penurunan kadar COD dan BOD pada limbah cair laundry dengan nilai peluang kurang dari 0,05. Abstract

Usaha laundry merupakan usaha yang banyak ditemukan di Indonesia, usaha ini memiliki dampak negatif bagi lingkungan. Dampak negatif dari usaha laundry berupa limbah buangan deterjen yang dapat menyebabkan pencemaran lingkungan. Pencemaran lingkungan yang disebabkan oleh limbah usaha laundry yang mengandung COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) dan fosfat yang tinggi melebihi baku mutu yang telah ditetapkan sehingga akan menyebabkan kerusakan pada ekosistem air. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh koagulan kapur yang paling efektif dengan dosis 1,8 g, 2,2 g, 2,8 g, 3,2 g, dan 3,5 g waktu pengadukan 20 menit menggunakan metode koagulasi dalam menurunkan parameter COD dan fosfat pada limbah laundry sehingga memenuhi baku mutu yang telah ditetapkan. Hasil penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa penurunan kadar COD yang efektif pada air limbah laundry terdapat pada penambahan dosis 3,5 gram koagulan kapur dengan presentase penurunan sebesar 88,89% dan untuk penurunan kadar fosfat yang efektif pada air limbah laundry terdapat pada penambahan dosis 1,8 gram  koagulan kapur dengan presentase penurunan 99,66% karena pada dosis tersebut sudah mampu menurunkan kadar COD dan fosfat sesuai syarat baku mutu Perda Prov. Jateng No. 5 Tahun 2012 tentang baku mutu limbah industri deterjen.

Abstract

Animal welfare untuk ternak hewan sudah menjadi tuntutan bagi peternak di era modern saat ini. Peternak kambing tradisional dan konvensional kebanyakan belum memperhatikan hal tersebut dengan sebaik-baiknya. Disamping itu, peternak masih menghadapi permasalahan yang menjadi kendala besar dalam pengembangan usaha peternakan mereka termasuk diantaranya adalah penyediaan pakan ternak yang berkulaitas. Pemanfaatan teknologi untuk penyediaan pakan berkualitas dan diversifikasi hijauan akan membantu para peternak mengurai masalah tersebut. Pengembangan kemampuan penyediaan dan pengelolaan pakan ternak kambing ini dilakukan di desa Demangan, kec. Sambi kab. Boyolali. Solusi yang ditawarkan untuk membantu permasalahan mitra adalah mengupayakan pemenuhan asupan pakan yang berkualitas dan terjamin ketersediaannya sepanjang tahun baik musim penghujan maupun kemarau dengan teknologi fermentasi dan budidaya tanaman indigofera sebagai diversifikasi hijauan.Peternak telah berhasil membudidayakan tanaman indigofera untuk diversifikasi penyediaan pakan hijauan dan mengaplikasikan teknologi fermentasi sehingga ketersediaan pakan usaha ternak kambing dapat ditingkatkan dan proses budidaya ternak kambing di desa Demangan kecamatan Sambi kabupaten Boyolali dapat dilakukan lebih optimal.
