Abstract

Deep Learning is a learning approach that emphasizes conceptual understanding, higher-order thinking skills, and the integration of knowledge with real-life contexts. However, the implementation of this approach at the elementary school level still faces various challenges, particularly related to teachers’ conceptual understanding and pedagogical skills. This Community Service program aimed to enhance the competencies of elementary school teachers in Cilawu District, Garut Regency, in implementing Deep Learning effectively and contextually. The program employed workshop-based training, continuous mentoring, reflective discussions, and hands-on practice in developing Deep Learning–oriented instructional plans. The participants were elementary school teachers from several schools in Cilawu District. The results indicated an improvement in teachers’ understanding of Deep Learning principles, their ability to design learning activities that promote critical and collaborative thinking, and their readiness to implement the approach in classroom practice. Furthermore, sustained mentoring supported teachers in addressing practical challenges during implementation. Therefore, this program contributes positively to improving the quality of elementary education and strengthening teachers’ professional competence.

Abstract

The ability to comprehend texts and mathematical literacy are crucial competencies for future elementary school teachers. However, research shows that students in the Elementary School Teacher Education (PGSD) program often struggle with interpreting texts and solving mathematical problems, indicating low levels of disciplinary literacy. This study aims to examine the implementation and effectiveness of the Anticipation Guides reading strategy integrated with Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) in improving students’ text comprehension and mathematical literacy. A quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group was used, involving 50 PGSD students divided into experimental and control groups. The experimental group received instruction using Anticipation Guides integrated with GenAI, while the control group received conventional instruction. Data were collected through pretest and posttest instruments measuring both competencies and analyzed using Independent Sample t-tests and MANOVA. The results showed that the experimental group achieved significantly higher N-gain scores in text comprehension (0.65) and mathematical literacy (0.60) compared to the control group. The statistical analysis indicated a significant effect (p < 0.001) with large effect sizes and a multivariate impact based on Wilks' Lambda (Λ = 0.291, F(2,46) = 55.93). These findings suggest that integrating Anticipation Guides with GenAI provides effective scaffolding and fosters higher-order thinking skills. The strategy enhances student engagement, supports personalized learning, and strengthens cross-disciplinary literacy. Therefore, this approach offers a relevant and innovative solution for improving essential literacies among teacher education students in the digital era. Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effect of the Teaching Personal and Social Responsibility (TPSR) model combined with a Health Sports Technical Hand Out (THO) on improving training responsibility and physical activity among Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD) students at IPI Garut. A quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design was employed. The sample, selected purposively, consisted of two classes: an experimental group receiving the TPSR+THO intervention and a control group without treatment. Instruments included a training responsibility questionnaire and a physical activity observation sheet, both validated and tested for reliability. Data analysis used paired t-tests, gain scores, and independent sample t-tests (α = 0.05). Results showed significant improvements in all variables for the experimental group, with the largest gains in duration (+38.40 minutes; d = 1.142) and training intensity (+41.80 points; d = 2.447). These findings confirm that integrating TPSR and THO effectively fosters responsible character and enhances the quality of students’ physical activity. This model has strong potential for implementation in character-based physical education at the university level.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dampak kegiatan ekstrakurikuler paskibra terhadap karakter nasionalisme siswa SDN 5 Regol. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis ex-post facto. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 32 siswa yang mengikuti ekstrakurikuler paskibra. Data dikumpulkan melalui angket, wawancara, dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan korelasi Spearman dan koefisien determinasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan ekstrakurikuler paskibra memiliki hubungan positif dan signifikan terhadap karakter nasionalisme siswa, dengan koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,452 dan nilai signifikansi 0,009 < 0,05. Koefisien determinasi sebesar 0,313 menunjukkan bahwa ekstrakurikuler paskibra memberikan kontribusi sebesar 31,3% terhadap karakter nasionalisme siswa, sedangkan 68,7% dipengaruhi faktor lain. Dengan demikian, ekstrakurikuler paskibra berperan dalam mendukung pembentukan karakter nasionalisme siswa di sekolah dasar.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan meningkatkan sikap ilmiah siswa melalui penerapan metode outing class dalam pendekatan saintifik pada pembelajaran IPA kelas V SDN 04 Sukamanah. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian tindakan kelas model Kemmis dan Taggart yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus, masing-masing terdiri atas dua pertemuan, dengan subjek 30 siswa. Data dikumpulkan melalui angket sikap ilmiah dan lembar observasi pelaksanaan tindakan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pelaksanaan tindakan meningkat dari 83,33% pada siklus I menjadi 96,67% pada siklus II. Persentase siswa yang mencapai kategori sikap ilmiah tinggi juga meningkat dari 80,00% pada siklus I menjadi 95,00% pada siklus II. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa metode outing class dalam pendekatan saintifik efektif meningkatkan sikap ilmiah siswa dan dapat menjadi alternatif pembelajaran IPA di sekolah dasar.
