Abstract

The Indonesian government defines domestic violence as any act of violence against a person, particularly women, that results in physical, sexual, psychological, or economic harm or suffering within the home. This encompasses threats of violence, coercion, and the deprivation of freedom. The high prevalence of domestic violence and the negative impacts that occur on victims of domestic violence make problems related to domestic violence a significant problem that affects the quality of life. This research employs a qualitative research method with a case study approach, with the objective of elucidating the quality of life of women who are divorced as a result of domestic violence. The findings of this study indicate that the participants' physical condition deteriorated following divorce, increasing their susceptibility to disease. Furthermore, the psychological condition of the participants was found to be poor, their spiritual quality was low, and their social relationships declined. However, following the commencement of employment, women who were divorced due to domestic violence were ultimately able to enhance their quality of life, including attaining greater financial stability and psychological well-being. This was characterized by a lack of fear and depression. Furthermore, there was a discernible improvement in their quality of life in social relationships, manifested in the form of numerous interpersonal connections

Abstract

Anak yang mengalami skizofrenia tidak dapat berfungsi optimal dalam kehidupannya sehingga membutuhkan bantuan dari orang sekitar. Keberadaan anak justru sering dianggap berbahaya karena stigmasasi masyarakat. Orangtua pun menjadi kurang mendukung kesembuhan anak.

Abstract

Background: Individuals with disabilities face various challenges in the workforce, including physical, psychological, and social barriers that hinder full access and participation, leading to anxiety about entering the workforce. Anxiety often arises due to negative thinking. Positive thinking, however, can help individuals manage this anxiety. Objective: This study aims to examine the relationship between positive thinking and anxiety about entering the workforce among individuals with disabilities. Method: This research uses a quantitative approach with purposive sampling, involving 60 participants with disabilities aged 18-40. Data was collected through questionnaires that measure levels of positive thinking and anxiety about the workforce. The gathered data was analyzed using the product-moment correlation method. Result: The findings show a significant negative relationship between positive thinking and anxiety about entering the workforce among individuals with disabilities. Conclusion: The implications of this study can serve as a reference for research on marginalized communities, specifically individuals with disabilities. Keywords: Positive thinking, world of work, anxiety, disability

Abstract

This study explores the role of Andhap Asor, a Javanese cultural value emphasizing humility and emotional restraint, as a coping mechanism for early adult women from broken home families. Using a qualitative approach with an intrinsic case study design, the research involved four Javanese women aged 20–30 who had experienced parental separation. Data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews, field notes, and non-participant observation, and analyzed using thematic analysis. Findings reveal four primary emotional regulation patterns: acceptance, suppression, distraction, and resilience. These strategies were deeply influenced by the internalization of Andhap Asor, which provided participants with a cultural framework to reinterpret emotional pain into personal growth. The value of Andhap Asor enabled participants to respond to emotional adversity with self-reflection, patience, and spiritual meaning—rather than with resentment or reactive behaviors. Thus, Andhap Asor serves as both an internal and social emotional regulation strategy, fostering psychological resilience and supporting interpersonal harmony. These findings highlight the significance of incorporating culturally grounded approaches in psychological interventions, particularly for individuals coping with the emotional impacts of family dysfunction.

Abstract

Background: Social support is a key psychological construct widely examined in various research contexts. Cohen’s theory of social support underlies the development of the Interpersonal Support Evaluation List (ISEL-40), which measures perceived social support. Although the ISEL-40 has been adapted into several languages, empirical validation of its full version in the Indonesian context remains limited and methodologically constrained in prior studies.Purpose: This study aims to illuminate the psychometric properties of the Indonesian version of the ISEL-40.Method: This study involved 600 respondents from the Central Java Province and the Special Region of Yogyakarta, language-culture adjustments, and reliability analysis of Cronbach's Alpha, Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), and Multidimensional Scaling (MDS).Findings: The results indicate that the Indonesian ISEL-28 demonstrates adequate reliability and construct validity. The overall Cronbach’s alpha was .910, while CFA results showed acceptable model fit (RMSEA = .079; RMR = .050).Implication: The validated Indonesian ISEL-28 supports culturally relevant research and practice and provides a foundation for future cross-cultural studies in Indonesia.
