Abstract

Abstract

Hypertension is a chronic disease that often occurs in the world. Individual involvement in self-care is very important, in controlling blood pressure. The inability to carry out treatment will increase the risk and complications. The aim study is to explore the experiences and behavior of self-management and self-care of hypertension patients. The study is qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. The technique for taking participants was a purposive sampling of ten hypertensive patients. Data was collected using semi-structured interviews and then analyzed thematically based on the methodological framework of constructivist basic theory. Participant statements describing patient experiences in self-care include six themes, namely the cause of recurrences, emotional response, social support, self-care behavior, barriers to self-care, access to health facilities. The support factors of social support from family, health workers, and affordability of health services greatly influence self-care. An adequate support system, especially from nurses, is needed by patients because it will increase active participation so that patients will try to improve their care and skills in self-care.

Abstract

Introduction: The nursing system in Indonesia has an SDKI (Standard Diagnosis Nursing Indonesia) as the basis for determining nursing diagnoses. Inappropriate enforcement of nursing diagnoses based on the SDKI causes the objectives of the SDKI to not be fully achieved. Stroke is a state of cerebrovascular disease that can occur due to death in brain tissue caused by a lack of blood flow and oxygen flow to the brain. This study aims to find out the description of variations in writing nursing diagnoses in stroke patients based on the SDKI in Hospital RSUD Dr. Soegiri Lamongan. Methods: This research method is a documentation study, of 125 medical records of stroke patients at Hospital RSUD Dr. Soegiri Lamongan from August 2021 to February 2022, totaling 125 medical records. The data collection used consecutive sampling. The research was carried out in the working area of Hospital RSUD Dr. Soegiri Lamongan in March 2022. Results: The results showed that nursing diagnoses in patients with hemorrhagic stroke and non-hemorrhagic stroke were based on the SDKI Hospital RSUD Dr. Soegiri Lamongan, which are mostly written by nurses are impaired physical mobility (63%), variations in writing nursing diagnoses according to the SDKI (66%) and not according to the SDKI (34%), signs and symptoms in patients with hemorrhagic stroke and non-hemorrhagic stroke are mostly experienced weakness in moving the right extremity (31%). Abstract

Introduction: A high Body Mass Index (BMI) is known to be associated with mortality and morbidity in the elderly. However, other studies also show the opposite results regarding high BMI as a protector against Activity Daily Living (ADL). Accurate quantification of the role of BMI in the incidence of disability in ADL. Given the increasing prevalence of overweight and obese individuals and the long life spans in the population. This study aims to determine the relationship between Body Mass Index and Daily Life Activities in population-based elderly people. Methods: The method used in this research is a cross-sectional observational study conducted on 167 respondents from rural areas in the Lamongan Regency, using a consecutive sampling approach. BMI scores and the Barthel Index were recorded among respondents. Data were analyzed using the Spearman Test with a significance level of p<0.05. Results: A total of 167 respondents came from rural areas in Lamongan Regency, dominated by 96 (57.5%) women and 71 (42.5%) men. The Spearman Test results found a weak and significant positive correlation between body weight and daily activities (r= 0.167; p<0.05). Apart from that, a significant weak positive correlation was also found between BMI and ADL (r= 0.157; p<0.05). Conclusions: The results of the study show that increasing the BMI value has a protective effect on ADL, so it can be concluded that higher body weight and BMI are associated with increasing Barthel ADL scores.

Abstract

Establishing the correct nursing diagnosis in patients with COVID-19 is crucial for determining the most effective nursing care to help patients recover optimally. The research aims to describe and analyze nursing diagnoses in COVID-19 patients treated in isolation rooms and Intensive Care Units (ICUs). This research used secondary data analysis from 296 hospital medical records of COVID-19 patients at dr. Soegiri Lamongan Hospital from February to August 2021. The researchers employed a simple random sampling technique to collect the data and analyzed it using descriptive statistics. The research revealed that the common symptoms and nursing diagnoses among hospitalized COVID-19 patients included hyperthermia, coughing, shortness of breath, decreased consciousness, ineffective airway clearance, impaired gas exchange, self-care deficit, impaired spontaneous ventilation, spontaneous circulatory disorders, knowledge deficit, and shock risk. The results of this study provide information about variations in nursing diagnoses among COVID-19 patients. Thus, nurses can use this primary data to develop comprehensive standards of nursing care for COVID-19 patients.
