Abstract

Building resilience in adolescents is an important need, especially for those who spend most of their time at home with their families while facing the pandemic situation. Resilience enables adolescents to survive, adapt, and rise up when faced with difficult circumstances. This study aims to empirically examine the role of secure attachment and mindfulness in adolescent resilience in the new normal era. The study subjects were 220 junior high school students in Semarang City, Indonesia, who were selected using the convenience sampling technique. The study is based on correlational quantitative research using regression analysis. The instruments used were the Secure Attachment Scale, Mindfulness Scale, and Resilience Scale. The results show that there was a significant and positive relationship between secure attachment and mindfulness, and adolescent resilience in the new normal era (R2 = .56, F = 16169, p < .01). The findings provide useful suggestions for families to emphasize the development of psychological skills, especially resilience in adolescents, throughout the country.

Abstract

Children are in the early stage of learning. The commonly used term: “the golden age” refers to many advantages in learning process, because a child is on their peak of brain development. One of children’s development task is to prepare to learn to read, it means they need to be stimulated. Children have to master some basics in order to be able to read. As in learning to read Quran, children need to recognize the Arabic letters in Quran, called hijaiyah letters. There are 30 hijaiyah letters, more than the letters in the alphabet. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of digital multimedia-based multisensory methods in improving hijaiyah letters recognition on children at age 4 to 5 years old. The multisensory method is a well-known method to teach reading in children. In this study, multisensory method was implemented by using digital multimedia resources (computer and gadget) in order to gain more advantages in multimedia learning. The experiment was using the pretest-posttest control group design, involving 8 children each, in experiment and control groups. Result shows that there is significant difference between the pretest and posttest score in experiment group, but not in the control group. The Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test shows significance Asymp.Sig. at 0.012 (<0.05). The Mann-Whitney (U-Test) also shows significance Exact.Sig. at 0.015 (<0.05), by comparing the posttest score between experiment and control group. It shows evidence that the method is effective to improve hijaiyah letter recognition skill in early childhood.

Abstract

Amidst the social-cultural predominance of male ulama in the religious context, female ulama play important roles and yet are often trapped in life-role complexity and gender bias, as they have a responsibility in both the domestic and public domains. This study aims to explore the meaning of the experience of gratitude among female ulama based on the perspective of positive psychology, with reference to the PERMA (Positive emotion, Engagement, Relationship, Meaning, and Accomplishment) model, with further interpretation of gratitude (shukr) from Sufi psychology. Using a qualitative (phenomenological) approach, we held online in-depth interviews with five female ulama participants from across Indonesia and Germany. The research demonstrates the interconnection between themes related to gratitude according to PERMA-Model and the embodiment of gratitude (shukr) in Sufi psychology. These findings provide evidence to support the practical implication of the integrative intervention of positive and Sufi psychology for clinical purposes or to promote flourishing and well-being among women.

Abstract

Parenting has an important role in shaping the independence of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This study aims to analyze the parenting patterns applied at Rumah Layanan Autisme Semarang and its contribution to the development of children's independence with ASD. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a case study approach. Data were collected through observation and interviews with five subjects of children with ASD and their parents or caregivers. The results showed that the parenting patterns applied varied, ranging from authoritarian, democratic, to a combination of both. Democratic parenting tends to be more effective in encouraging children's independence through a flexible and positive reinforcement-based approach. In contrast, authoritarian parenting that emphasizes strict discipline can hinder the development of children's initiative. Factors that influence the success of parenting include parents' level of understanding of ASD characteristics, consistency in parenting patterns, and a supportive environment. This research provides insights for parents, educators and practitioners in designing optimal parenting strategies to increase the independence of children with ASD.

A high level of emotional exhaustion indicates that employees feel drained of energy and cannot deal effectively with work pressure. High depersonalization indicates a cold attitude towards colleagues and clients. In addition, low self-esteem suggests a lack of satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment at work.
