Abstract

This study investigates item characteristics in psychological scale that susceptible to faking response. We examine the difference scores of Self Description form between two conditions. In the first condition we instruct subject to complete the form honestly (honest condition). On the other hand, in the second condition we instruct subject complete the form to make they look as good as possible (faking condition). Result suggest that in the item attributes that susceptible to faking, the score on the faking condition was higher than honest condition because subject were enable to improve their scores. We found that item attributes that verifiable, continuous, actual, controllable, second‐third sources, and future oriented were persistent to faking response. However item attributes that non‐verifiable, dichotomous, perceptual, first hand source and recent oriented, were vulnerable to faking response.

Abstract

This study aimed to apply the mixture Rasch Model Analysis techniques to identify the proportion of students who possess extreme response styles when completing the questionnaire. Total 2.981 high school students from 30 cities in 15 provinces were instructed to complete questionnaires measuring self-esteem. Self-Self-Esteem Scale consists of four self-reported sub-scales using Likert's model. Analysis suggest that based on how to respond to the scale, student in this study was grouped into three classes: extreme response style class, normal class, and mixture class. These numbers of class were consistent on all four sub-scales. The proportion of students who consistently gave an extreme response on four sub-scales was 4 percent; 6 percent was on three sub-scale, 13 percent on two sub-scales and 53 percent on one sub-scale. The small percentage of students who responded consistently gave an extreme responses suggest that high-school students appropriately choose an option response that represent their trait.

Abstract

This study examined the construct validity of the Graduate Academic Potential Test (PAPS). The examination was performed on all existing PAPS series (6 forms) to identify the consistency of dimensionality structure of PAPS. Data of this study were analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The results of the analysis support assumption that the structure of the PAPS test is unidimensional. All of the model fit indices support the decision that the unidimensional model fit the data. The study also examined factor loading that the non-verbal components, especially the quantitative components that had a higher factor weight than the other components.

Abstract

Kata-kata Kunci: kesesatan respon, motivasi berprestasi, atribut psikologi

Abstract

The use of a mediator variable which mediates the effect of treatment with the output variable in the context of experimental research is highly recommended. By involving the mediator variable, the mechanism of treatment effect given to the output variable can be explained in more detail. This study aimed to disseminate the use of a mediator variable in experimental research which is rare used among researchers in Indonesia. Two mediation analysis procedures was applied to analyze the effect of Depression Prevention Training to reduced depression symptoms among adolescents. This study employed pretest–posttest experimental design. Participants were divided into two groups and the treatment was given to the treatment groups. The variable defined as mediator was coping skill. Firstly, Baron-Kenny procedure was employed and then followed by causal analysis procedure. The analysis revealed that coping skill was proved as a mediator between the effect of treatment on depression. Similarity and differences of these two procedures were discussed. Keywords : Mediator, Baron-Kenny Procedure, Causal Analysis Procedure

Abstract

Kata kunci: efikasi guru dalam mengajar, analisis kelas laten, kategori unik THE APPLICATION OF LATENT CLASS ANALYSIS TO DETECT THE UNIQUE CHARACTERISTICS ON TEACHERS EFFICACY CONSTRUCTS IN TEACHINGAbstractThis study aims to identify the unique groups based on attributes measured on the efficacy of teachers to bring unique types of teacher efficacy. The research involved a total of 142 teachers who were asked to complete Teaching Efficacy Scale. The results of latent class analysis exhibit four types of teacher’s efficacy based on their similarity responses to given measure. Two classes show an ordered category (high efficacy and low teaching category) whereas two classes show a unique category (efficacy related to interaction with students and efficacy related to teaching preparation). The presence of these two unique classes suggests that teacher perceptions of his/her ability in teaching can be viewed as a type of attribute. There are teachers swho have high levels of efficacy in one dimension but tend to be low on other dimensions. The presence of this type has several consequences for the development of teaching efficacy measure, and programs to improve teachers should accommodate this unique type. Keywords: teaching efficacy, latent class analysis, unique categories

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the psychometric properties of the modified version of the Work Engagement Scale in the Indonesian context, by adding one aspect and test the effect of types of occupation using the multiple indicator multiple cause (MIMIC) model for testing measurement invariance. The sample of this study included 459 workers in Indonesia using 16 items of the Work Engagement Scale. The results revealed that Indonesian respondents have Asian characteristics, but they come from various ethnicities and cultures. By including university lecturers and industrial workers as respondents and performing confirmatory factor analysis followed by MIMIC model, it is discovered that Indonesian employees have satisfactory psychometric properties in all four dimensions, which comprise the constructs of the work engagement scale. The findings provide an insight into in the Job Demands-Resources (JD-R) Model of work engagement in Indonesian context consisted of vigor, dedication, absorption, and contribution dimensions from theoretical understanding. MIMIC model gives an evidence that the occupation types can affect the factor structure of work engagement, indicating that measurement invariance are not hold.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to adapt and validate the Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale-12 in a group of married individuals in Indonesia during the pandemic of Covid-19. Getting married is a significant transitional stage for individuals. Previous research has shown that married couples experience anxiety over their lives and family as a response to uncertain conditions. The Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale-12 is a scale to measure individual responses to uncertainty. However, as the best of researcher’s knowledge, there was no Indonesian version that has been culturally adapted and validated. This research used quantitative method and 203 participants participated in this study through snowball sampling. Data analysis utilized factor analysis with the exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) to measure construct validity, Aiken’s V to measure content validity, and Cronbach’s Alpha to measure reliability. Results showed that model fit at the 4 factors according to χ2, RMSEA, SRMSR, CFI, and TLI scores. Those aspects are negative perception of uncertainty, desire for certainty, behavioral inhibition due to uncertainty, and helplessness toward uncertainty. Furthermore, explanation about the factors formation will be discussed. Keywords: adaptation, Indonesia, IUS-12, married individuals, validation Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengadaptasi dan memvalidasi the Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale-12 pada kelompok individu yang telah menikah di Indonesia selama pandemi Covid-19.

Abstract

This study aimed to demonstrate the use of multiple indicators and multiple (MIMIC) model in testing the consistency of the measurement results when it's applied to individuals with different characteristics. Self-Esteem and Student Motivation Scale were employed to measure participant attributes. Impact of three student characteristics (gender, intelligence and school location) on both measurement model were examined. Total of 2981 students from 30 cities of 15 provinces were participated in this study. Data analysis was utilized using confirmatory factor analysis under structural equation modeling (SEM) approach. Results showed that measuring self-esteem was prone to be contaminated by individual heterogeneity. However, contrary results was found on motivation measure. Excluding three student characteristics as covariance in the model have increased model fit indices in the self-esteem measurement model, but not in the self-esteem. The presence of susceptibility scale to different characteristics indicated that this scale needs to be further modified. Therefore, when it is applied to heterogeneous population, the measurement results will produce consistently results.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the measurement models that appropriate to measure psychologicalattributes toward psychological scale. Measurement models that includes is parallel, tau-equivalent andcongeneric models. Each model has different assumptions according to each item’s precision and scalemeasuring on psychological scale. As a sample of psychological scale, this study uses Child DepressionInventory (CDI) and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale. Data was taken from the 3.183 adolescents from juniorand senior high school in DIY, with ages ranging from 15 to 19. Both scale were tested using the HotellingT2 test for testing the equality of mean and variance as well as confi rmatory factory analysis throughstructural equation modeling to rest the accuracy of the model. This study found that psychological scalestend to fi t better with the congeneric model than others. The congeneric model is one which assumesthat every item in a scale has a different precision and scale of measure. Therefore, it is concluded thatitems tend to be measured in psychological attributes, with relative variation.
