Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of sugarcane harvested area, sugarcane production, and interest rates on economic growth in Indonesia. The data used in this study are time series data covering a period of 35 years, from 1990 to 2024. The data were obtained from the Ministry of Agriculture and the World Bank and were analyzed using the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) approach. The results of this study indicate that, in the short run, the harvested area of sugarcane has a positive and significant effect on economic growth in Indonesia, while interest rates have a positive but insignificant effect. Meanwhile, sugarcane production has a negative and significant effect on economic growth in Indonesia. In the long run, the harvested area of sugarcane and interest rates have a positive and significant effect on economic growth in Indonesia, whereas sugarcane production has a negative and significant effect on economic growth in Indonesia.

Abstract

Bioethanol is a renewable energy that has the potential to replace fuel oil with a high octane value. A common problem experienced in the process of making bioethanol is the difficulty of obtaining pure ethanol levels. So the purification process is an important factor in producing bioethanol which can function as fuel. The distillation process aims to separate ethanol from the ethanol-water mixture. The boiling point of ethanol is 78ºC and the boiling point of water is 100ºC so that by heating to a temperature of 78ºC using the distillation method, ethanol can be separated from the ethanol-water mixture. In this research, a distillation device has been successfully designed which consists of a heater, boiler and heat exchanger. The shell and tube type heat exchanger is designed with a capacity of 2 liters. The tube side uses 20 copper pipes with a diameter of 1/4 in, a thickness of 0.5 mm, a length of 400 mm, and a pitch distance of 13 mm. On the shell side, a 3 in diameter PVC pipe with a length of 500 mm is used. Capable of transferring heat with effectiveness reaching 89% with ethanol content of 92%.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to determine exchange rate fluctuations, foreign exchange reserves, and Gross Domestic Product on fluctuations in cassava exports in Indonesia. The data used in this study are secondary in the form of a time series from 1986 to 2021, obtained from the World Bank and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). The data analysis method in this study is Vector Auto Regression (VAR) using Eviews 10. The results of this study show that exchange rate fluctuations have a negative and insignificant effect on fluctuations in cassava exports in Indonesia. The fluctuations of foreign exchange reserves have a negative and significant impact on fluctuations in cassava exports in Indonesia. The fluctuations in Gross Domestic Product have a positive and insignificant effect on fluctuations in cassava exports in Indonesia.
