Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of leader-member exchange (LMX) and coworker support on organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) directed to coworkers, and the mediating role of job satisfaction on these relationships. The respondents of this study were 156 employees who worked as salespeople in various industries in Surabaya. The results of testing using PLS-SEM show that LMX has a significant effect on OCB directed at coworkers, but coworker support does not significantly influence OCB directed at coworkers. LMX and coworker support have effects on job satisfaction, and job satisfaction affects OCB directed to coworkers. Job satisfaction mediates the influence of LMX and coworker support on OCB directed to coworkers. Based on these results, companies need to improve the quality of the relationship between supervisors and subordinates, and between coworkers, such as by conducting training activities for them.

Abstract

Purpose – Online motorcycle taxi driving is a field of work that has recently become a work option for some people. However, it could be this choice because of the compulsion that can cause stress. Drawing on social cognitive theory, this study investigates the antecedents of online motorcycle taxi drivers work stress, by considering coworker support, autonomy, and affective occupational commitment.  Methodology – Data collection was carried out by surveying questionnaires, with 89 online motorcycle taxi drivers in Surabaya as respondents. Data analysis was done using Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Findings – Supportive of social cognitive theory, this study finds that coworker support and autonomy positively influence affective occupational commitment, while affective occupational commitment is likely to reduce work stress. Coworker support and autonomy have no significant direct effect on work stress. Affective occupational commitment mediates the relationship between coworker support and work stress. Originality – Previous studies on online motorcycle taxi drivers tend to identify organizational commitment and examine the effect of work stress on work attitudes. The present study considers affective occupational commitment as an antecedent of work stress, and a mediator of the influence of coworker support and autonomy, on online motorcycle taxi drivers' work stress in Surabaya.

Abstract

Entrepreneurship development needs to be pursued as early as possible since secondary education. Students who are a digital generation certainly need a positive distribution of digital skills that they generally have today. Digital-based entrepreneurship and self-leadership training is an alternative to helping students train their leadership through concrete activities which can at the same time help them channel their interests and prepare the mentality and skills needed at later stages of education. Student development programs in the form of entrepreneurship and character development programs have been successfully fulfilled in the service in the form of this training. This was proven based on the evaluation after the training which showed that the community service participants considered that the material provided was interesting and new. The resource persons were interactive and clear in providing material, as well as allocating training time that was appropriate to the situation and conditions of the trainees.
