Abstract

Higher education abroad, particularly in China, is becoming an increasingly attractive option for Indonesian students due to various scholarship opportunities and prominent academic programs. This community engagement program aims to provide comprehensive education to senior high school students in Central Java on the Chinese higher education system, available scholarships, and insights into student life in China. Conducted in an interactive seminar format, the program involved stakeholders such as LP Ma'arif PWNU Central Java, BRCC Indonesia, Universitas Indraprasta PGRI, and Universitas Wahid Hasyim. Approximately 3,000 students attended the event at the MAJT Convention Hall in Semarang on April 14, 2025. The results show high enthusiasm and motivation among students to pursue education in China, as well as a positive response to the Zahir Accounting certification training offered. This inter-institutional collaboration demonstrates that strategic dissemination of information can broaden access and readiness for global learning opportunities.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze Indonesian–Arabic translation errors in scientific writing among students of the Arabic Language Education Department at Walisongo State Islamic University. Specifically, it seeks to (1) examine the nature of written language translation, (2) evaluate the quality of student translations based on established criteria, and (3) classify common types of translation errors. Employing a qualitative, product-oriented research design, data were collected using purposive sampling from 39 students. The analysis focused on linguistic errors, with translation quality assessed through the criteria of accuracy, readability, and naturalness. The study identified the following types and frequencies of errors: letter-level errors (288), word structure errors (375), vocabulary errors (436), idiomatic or expression-related errors (336), and sentence-level errors (372). These findings suggest that Arabic language lecturers should consider developing idiomatic expression references, composition textbooks, and translation guides tailored to Indonesian–Arabic contexts. The department is encouraged to incorporate these insights into curriculum development, particularly for the courses “Indonesian–Arabic Translation” and “Academic Composition”.

Abstract

One of the reasons students at Al-Azhar 29-BSB Islamic-School don’t yet have basic Arabic-skills is the lack of a learning model that encourages Arabic speaking practice, whether independently, in-class, or socially with school friends. Also, the project offers significant opportunities for active and cooperative learning, specifically through speaking practice using video-based media, and this practice is optimally supported by Powtoon. This study aims to characterize Project-Based Learning and its implementation; characterization of Powtoon in speaking through Project; and the challenges of this practice. This study employed qualitative-approachwith an-explanatory design. Data collected through observation, interviews, and questionnaires. Data analysed by Spradley-model includes: domain, taxonomic, component, and cultural theme analysis. The results showed that the implementation of the Project with Powtoon generally had a students'-confidence, creativity, and Arabic skills. Never the less, there were challenges, such as the limited features of the free version of Powtoon, variations in students' mastery, time-management, and shyness. This study concludes that although the Powtoon-based Project has great potential, the right strategy is needed to overcome these challenges so that Arabic learning is more optimal. Project using Powtoon in kalam, with Gen-Zare rarely done, so the opportunity to develop it is large in the form of research.

Abstract

Curriculum development and learning management played a crucial role in maintaining quality and aligning with formulated objectives. The study aimed to analyze the curriculum and management of intensive course programs as well as training and development programs. A qualitative field analysis with a comparative approach was employed as the research method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and the data analysis involved descriptive analysis of curriculum and management aspects. The findings revealed that Al-Azhar's intensive course integrated both classical and modern curriculum elements, whereas the UIN Walisongo language development center focused exclusively on language standardization exam preparation (IMKA). The Arabic Online program demonstrated effective organization, incorporating periodic evaluations at each level leading to a world-standard language certificate upon completion. Concerning curriculum aspects, the UIN Walisongo Language Centre courses were identified as needing improvement in materials, learning exercises, and the development of more diverse course formats. Additionally, alignment of vision and mission between leaders and course teachers was recommended. This research contributed valuable insights to the development of curriculum and learning management in Arabic language intensive courses and training programs.

Abstract

The translation is one of the most essential subjects for foreign speakers. Although there are translation aids for various occasions, translation competence is still a haven for learners. The objectives are to examine Project-Based Learning (Pjbl) for undergraduate students; examine the study planning for the Tarjamah Fauriyyah (TF) material; and the implementation of Pop-Up in TF. This study is qualitative research with an explanatory field study and a cross-sectional survey design. The sample is fifth-year university students in the 2024/2025 academic year, with 14 people. The sampling method was purposive sampling. Data collection, including interviews, observation, and documentation, is analysed using the data reduction model, and conclusions are presented and made. The research findings illustrate that Project-Based-Learning is an active form of student-centred teaching and is implemented on three active learning methods, namely Discovery-Learning, Project-Based-Learning, and Jigsaw, which represent the spirit of the independent curriculum and contribute to the vision of the University. The implication of this research is the implementation of active learning at the university student level by applying the three domains of cognitive, affective, and psychomotor through Pop-Up, which is carried out in groups by students focusing on direct translation learning.

Abstract

Most Arabic language studying at Salaf Islamic Boarding Schools leads to maharah al-qira'ah wa al-istima'. One of the salaf Islamic boarding schools, namely Raudlatul Ulum Guyangan Pati, Central Java, Indonesia, began the formulation of curriculum transformation by achieving the goals of speaking skills (maharah al-kalam). This study aimed to analyze the implementation of maharah al-kalam material of the ACTFL Perspective Arabic language curriculum at the Raudlatul Ulum Islamic Boarding School. The method uses a qualitative explanatory case study approach. The implementation of maharah al-kalam material follows four curriculum management stages: planning, organization, performance, and evaluation. The results show (1) planning: preparation of muhādaṡah materials 2JP, debates, and speeches based on: (a) vision and mission, (b) goals of maharah al-kalam, (c) developing students' talents; (2) organization: material using al-'Arabiyyah Bayna Yadaik; (3) performance: learning process uses direct, audiolingual, mixed methods supporting bī'ah, native speakers, laboratories, kitab turats; (4) evaluation using imtihān and munaqasyah.

Abstract

The community service program to strengthen the understanding and internalization of Ahlussunnah wal Jama'ah (Aswaja) values ​​for Elementary Madrasah (MI) teachers in Semarang City was implemented through an Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) approach. This activity aims to increase the capacity of teachers in understanding and integrating Aswaja values ​​in learning and madrasah culture. The program implementation began with a needs analysis through interviews with teachers, madrasah principals, and the coordinator of the Elementary Madrasah Teacher Working Group (KKGMI). The activity stages included training, workshops on developing teaching materials, mentoring, and the preparation of Aswaja-based teaching modules. The evaluation results showed a significant increase in teachers' understanding of Aswaja values ​​(tawasuth, tawazun, tasamuh, and i'tidal) as demonstrated through pretest and posttest results. Teachers were also able to design teaching modules that include the values ​​of tawasuth, tawazun, tasamuh, and i'tidal contextually. Furthermore, ongoing discussion initiatives have been established in several madrasas as a commitment to internalizing Aswaja values. However, implementation still faces challenges, such as time constraints.

Abstract

The high urgency of mastering Arabic, especially mufrodat, in Fadhlul Fadhlan Islamic Boarding School encourages systematic efforts in the learning process. The Tikror method, with an emphasis on intensive repetition, is believed to be a key strategy to strengthen the memorization and application of mufrodat in the daily interactions of the students. This study aims to evaluate the vocabulary learning program through the tikror method at Pondok Pesantren Fadhlul Fadhlan Semarang. Vocabulary learning is a key component in Arabic language instruction, designed to enrich students' vocabulary and improve their understanding of the language. The tikror method, which focuses on word repetition, is expected to help students effectively memorize and comprehend vocabulary. This research employs a qualitative approach, with the subjects being teachers and students at Pondok Pesantren Fadhlul Fadhlan Semarang. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis is conducted using Miles and Huberman's model with data collection, data reduction, and conclusions. The findings show that the application of the tikror method is effective in improving students' ability to memorize and understand vocabulary. Repeating words during lessons helps students better retain the vocabulary taught. However, some challenges were found, such as a lack of variation in repetition techniques and limited time for optimal repetition. Despite these challenges, the tikror method has a positive effect on students' motivation to learn Arabic. Therefore, it is recommended that the tikror method be improved and combined with other teaching methods to enhance the effectiveness of vocabulary learning at this pesantren. Abstract

Kurikulum merupakan komponen vital dalam sistem pendidikan karena menjadi pedoman dalam proses pembelajaran yang bertujuan membentuk kompetensi siswa secara menyeluruh, baik dari aspek kognitif, afektif, maupun psikomotorik. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengidentifikasi dan menganalisis berbagai jenis sumber daya yang berperan penting dalam menunjang keberhasilan implementasi kurikulum di satuan pendidikan oleh guru dan tenaga kependidikan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Subjek dalam penelitian ini yakni guru dan tenaga kependidikan. Data dikumpulkan melalui metode observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi, sedangkan data dianalisis dengan deskriptif kualitatif melalui reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Adapun hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan penguatan pelatihan guru, pemerataan anggaran, kolaborasi antara sekolah dan masyarakat, serta kepemimpinan kepala sekolah yang inovatif. Jika seluruh sumber daya dikelola secara optimal dan berkelanjutan, maka implementasi kurikulum di berbagai satuan pendidikan dapat berjalan dengan lebih efektif dan merata, serta mendukung pencapaian tujuan pendidikan nasional
