Abstract

Abstract

A review of the literature reveals that most previous studies only used achievement motivation theory to assess the work motivation of agricultural extension workers in Indonesia. So far, no research questionnaire has been designed using expectancy theory. The purpose of this study is to develop a work motivation questionnaire based on expectancy theory and to test the convergent validity, discriminant validity, construct reliability and composite reliability of this questionnaire. This study drew on data from 107 people who work as agricultural extension workers in Indonesia. The questionnaire distributed via google forms was completed by all respondents. All statistical analyses were performed using JASP, version 0.16, and a confirmatory factor analysis technique was used. This study resulted in the development of a work motivation questionnaire in Indonesian. There are nine-item questions, each with three questions for construct expectancy, three questions for constructs instrumentality, and three questions for constructs valence. Confirmatory factor analysis confirmed that all of the question items from the expectancy theory three constructs met the convergent validity, discriminant validity, construct reliability, and composite reliability criteria. This questionnaire can be used in future research on agricultural extension workers' work motivation in Indonesia.

Abstract

The large-scale social restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic have hampered the communication process for millennial hydroponic farmers in Situbondo. The farmers could not have their regular offline meetings. As such, they started to switch to the Whatsapp messaging application to communicate. However, the switch was done without prior need analysis, so there was no guarantee of whether the application could meet their need to communicate. This study aimed to analyze the interpersonal communication network, WA media gratification, and the relationship between the two. The communication network method was used in this study by interviewing 108 respondents through a nominalist approach and positional strategy, small group sampling followed by intact sampling. Data were analyzed using the Communication Network Analysis program UCINET Version 6.0, descriptive analysis, and analysis of variable relationships using the SPSS Version 21. The results showed that the whole network consisted of actors from various professions and backgrounds from Situbondo and outside Situbondo. The communication network structure formed a wheel with the dominance centrality degree, closeness, betweenness, and eigenvector actors by three hydroponic farmers with codes 41, 47, and 105. The level of WA media gratification, included the use and satisfaction obtained by hydroponic farmers, was very high on information, socialization, and social support. The relationship between interpersonal communication networks and WA media gratification showed a significant and very significant relationship for socialization and social support.

Abstract

Household food consumption pattern is a habit or way of a family in choosing, processing, and consuming food daily. This pattern reflects the type, amount and quality of food consumed in a household. The problem that often occurs in household food consumption patterns is the imbalance of nutritional intake, which can be influenced by various factors both from socio-demographic and socio-economic factors. This study was conducted to analyze the achievement of household consumption patterns of agritourism workers and analyze what factors affect the achievement of household consumption patterns. The method used to analyze the achievement of food consumption patterns is through the calculation of EAR, PAR, DDP score, while for the analysis of influential factors using the ordinal logistic regression method with the help of SPSS 30 software. The results of the study explained that the EAR of agritourism worker households in Betet Village was 1946.37 kcal/cap/day or 92.68%EAR. Meanwhile, the PAR of tourist worker households in Betet Village was 53.52 grams/cap/day or 93.89%PAR and the DDP score was 93.16. Factors that influence EAR are the age of the housewife, the level of education of the housewife and the number of family members. While the factors that influence PAR are the age of the wife and household income.   Keywords: Desirable Dietary Pattern (DDP), Ecotourism, Energy Adequacy Rate (EAR), Protein Adequacy Rate (PAR).

Abstract

The important role of the Agricultural Extension Centre (AEC) at the sub-district level is indispensable in overcoming challenges and capitalizing on opportunities in the agribusiness sector. This study aims to illustrate important strategies that can strengthen the contribution of AEC in supporting agribusiness sustainability, with a particular focus on the mango commodity. This study used qualitative methodology and concentrated on a case study conducted at AEC Sukorejo Sub-district, Pasuruan Regency, which implements the Agricultural Development Command Strategy Program (Kostratani). Data were carefully collected through interviews with five agricultural extension workers, complemented by comprehensive field observations. Analysis was conducted through the Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, Threat (SWOT) method by carefully examining the internal dynamics of AEC. Research findings reveal AEC's internal strengths, including in-depth local knowledge, strong networks with farmers, and active participation of farmers in government programs. However, the identified weaknesses, such as limited human resources, budget constraints, and internal coordination issues, require concerted efforts to resolve in order to fully leverage the potential of modern technological advances in the Kostratani program. Priority strategies recommended for implementing AEC include focused initiatives to organize intensive training sessions on mango agribusiness practices, integrating the latest information and communication technologies. In addition, developing sophisticated digital applications is proposed to facilitate the seamless exchange of information and encourage dynamic discussions among farmers, ultimately strengthening partnerships with the mango industry.
