Abstract

Abstract

AbstractThe city of Surakarta as a cultural city has several areas that are unique and have historical heritage requirements, one of these areas is Kampung Batik Laweyan, where there are still many ancient buildings and is one of the oldest batik-producing micro-industrial villages in Surakarta. The development of the batik tradition in Laweyan is supported by the existence of the Bengawan tributaries (Pelemwulung river and Jenes river), making it a source of water and water transportation infrastructure. Analysis of the potential of the Laweyan Batik Village area has been widely developed, but studies on the potential of the Laweyan river from the aspect of urban tourism are still minimal. The discussion guidelines that will be used in this research are: identifying the drainage system around the river, community activities around the river, Law no. 63 of 1993 regarding the benefits of river and river area boundaries, and the potential and tourism activities in urban areas. Recommendations for natural irrigation systems for area development activities should provide protection for river basins so that the riverbanks function optimally. Based on observations in the Kampung Batik Laweyan River Area, the development around the river, the function of the river as a natural irrigation system, was not responded optimally. From the analysis of this research, it is found that the Kampung Batik Laweyan area still has a natural river environment and is still suitable for use as a river border according to Law number 63 of 1993. So that the border area can be used as a tourism activity. Analysis of river potential is based on the concept of conservation and revitalization. An analytical presentation of the Laweyan river resources produces many alternative natural tourism activities. The response that should be done is to take strategic planning steps, pilot activities, monitor and assess through integrated activities with local communities, related agencies, academics and the city government. Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

The Javanese have many traditions, which illustrate that the Javanese or Javanese people in achieving their expectations are not enough just to work and pray, but there are other ways such as ritual efforts that are carried out based on their belief in various myths and the history of places considered sacredness that develops in society. One of the ritual places and has a strong mythical belief is the tomb of Prince Samudra on Gunung Kemukus, Pendem Village, Sumberlawang District, Sragen Regency, Central Java. This hill (mountain of cubes), there is the tomb of Prince Samudra, Nyai Ontrowulan and his servants. The Javanese people, especially the people around them, have a belief that the tombs are considered sacred. Then the community began to build houses and live around the tomb. The habit of people seeking blessings through the tradition of ngalap blessing, which is an activity to seek goodness from an essence, object or something that is considered by humans to have benefits and goodness, or seeking barakah (ngalap blessing) or other words "tabarruk". This tomb is also a destination for the ngalap blessing ritual by the surrounding community and from the people on the island of Java. More and more community visits have led to the growth of settlements around the tomb, where previously there were no settlements, only hills. Based on the results of research, the existence of Prince Samudra's tomb is a generator for the emergence of settlements.

Abstract

Cement has been widely utilized as a primary material in the construction of structural and architectural elements. The cement factory industry can contribute to 30% of global carbon dioxide emissions. Geopolymers were first introduced by Davidovits in 1979 to represent inorganic polymers produced from geochemistry. Geopolymer materials make use of waste materials such as fly ash as a substitute for concrete binders. In this study, Class C (high calcium) fly ash from the Paiton Power Plant was used. The mix design for geopolymer mortar in this study employed the absolute volume calculation method. Absolute volume calculations are based on the absolute volume proportions of each constituent material within 1 m3. The compressive strength of geopolymer mortar with the addition of 5% borax to the molarity value, the alkali/cementitious ratio showed good performance in the mechanical properties of geopolymer mortar. Alkali/cementitious ratios of 0.3, 0.35, and 0.4 in Class C-based geopolymer mortar with 5% borax addition exhibited good workability, making it suitable for use as a base material in architectural material production.

Abstract

The rapid growth of the construction industry in Indonesia has led to a surge in cement production, a process that is energy-intensive and releases significant amounts of CO2. To mitigate the environmental impact of cement, geopolymer materials have emerged as a sustainable alternative. Given their role as spatial dividers, walls play a crucial role in a building's thermal and acoustic performance. Effective thermal performance can reduce the energy consumption required for air conditioning, while good acoustic performance enhances occupant comfort. This study compared the thermal and acoustic performance of lightweight concrete bricks (using cement as the primary material) with geopolymer bricks (utilizing fly ash). Two simulated rooms with distinct wall materials were constructed, and their temperature and acoustic properties were simultaneously measured. The thermal testing revealed that geopolymer bricks exhibited superior acoustic performance compared to lightweight bricks. Acoustic testing indicated that both brick types performed well acoustically. However, the acoustic performance of lightweight bricks peaked in hot weather, while geopolymer bricks demonstrated better acoustic performance at lower temperatures.
